You can fly back and forth?
Couldnt fly between Johto and Kanto in the Orig.
That was annoying...

Fly to Victory Road entrance. Then use Fly again. Then you can go to either side of the map.
But like I said, for the bullet train, go to Saffron City and talk to "Copycat" She lost her clefairy doll. Find it for her in Vermillion City at the house where that guy talks about his beloved pokemon. The braggart. Take it to her and she'll hook you up.

It seems to me, and Rol might agree with me on this, that all the Pokémon, no matter how defensively trained, seem to damage just as destructively. Hence, one wrong switch or move and you can end up dead.
Speed, then Resistances, seem like the game to play.
