Neither I nor Sango hate you at all Antonio. As a matter of fact, weren't you gonna make a character for the Desert? Do it, damn it!

Though, I am glad you brought this up. It's clear that drama in the guild has become a larger and larger problem. I know why, too. No one is truly regulating powers and abilities in a way that prevents people from becoming OP. As a result, certain members have become more vocal about their feelings that certain other players have decisive or unfair advantages within the guild. Because of this, new and old members are making other characters, custom skills and powers that are OP in their own right, so they feel they have some manner of trump card or failsafe against death or defeat. As this continues, the debates continue to get more and more heated, to the obvious point that people's feelings have genuinely been hurt and people have gotten genuinely pissed.

Why did you all leave Axiom? Because God Moding was rife, and nothing was fair yes? Look at what's happening here. More of the same, to a small degree. There is favoritism, elitism, and often times arrogance getting thrown around because people are starting to pick sides and pick fights OOC because they feel that IC battles will be unfair, unfun, and goddamn frustrating. IF this continues, Rykros is going to turn into a pissing match to see who is the strongest, and I highly doubt that's the reason why this guild was made...

I'd like a show of hands or... uh, posts, here. Who here feels on this issue, in some form or another? Whose been in such an argument, or felt compelled to buff skills?

This issue needs to be discussed.

Not me. I gave up on it. And it's not so much favoritism as it is fear. Customs are being regulated. My epic talent was over ruled for fear of what I'd do, as well as the fact it would take some of the uniqueness of having a bloodline. I'll kill everyone with Tombz' hands, and that's that. I don't need OP stuff to be strong. I don't fear my character's death. If I did, I'd have imported Yensen's "A new body" talent so I could never die. I didn't though. It's a waste. So Ferr, who's feelings have been hurt? Because quite frankly friend, there's rare drama. I mean, Arashi's just being a b***h right now because he's looking for some legit reason to leave instead of getting better. I've offered to give him lessons in fighting, and RPing in general, as well as helping him to find himself. He tried the latter for a bit, but gave up. Too hard.

As for Axiom, that's what it was. Either you touch and toes and take it in the a**, or you have to win by skill, with a touch of god modding thrown in. Let the others fight over who's the strongest. We could have a tournament to determine that. Which makes for a good arc. As for all that, I really don't think it's an issue. Suckish people who doubt try and make up for lack of skill with high power skills. I was once told by an Old Man, "A good rifle in an idiot's hands is s**t, but a s**t rifle in a skilled man's hands is a God-Send." And it's true.

Ferr, I could kiss you sometimes. You've just opened a can of worms that will never be closed again.

Every other time I come into Chatroom there seems to be something going down. Drama is not -rare- here. It just so happens that a few of the people that cause it are either on hiatus or offline. As for the can of worms bit, I don't want it to close until it's empty.

I know you don't fear character death. You're a Master Rank, and your character is powerful and you are a skilled RPer. And I will stand by the fact that there is some favoritism in the guild. Not much, but people seem to have their sides, and others will not step up to the plate and ask the hard questions or make the hard calls because friends are involved, or they simply don't want to. As for fear, it's not entirely directed at you. You aren't the one with the ability to transform into The Grim Reaper. We've talked logisitics up and down regarding your talent and you know I don't agree with it being flat out rejected, but you also KNOW that if you modified it and balanced it more than you have it can be accepted. Certain aspects of customs are being moderated, but others are not, or they are being regulated by people that have little regard for how powerful some skills are, or are unwilling to tell applicants that some skills, weapons, abilities are out of line. Honestly, you'd have to give me some of the finer details since I'm not a member of the crew.

Tournaments don't make for a good arc. They're cliche and there's no growth in them, and I can guarantee that a number of the applicants aside from yourself would stoop to power playing or munching. And a s**t rifle in a skilled man's hands is not a God-Send. It's powerful, but the mechanics itself have the potential to fail. I am a firm believer that skill will always help balance aspects of an RP guild, but whether or not you think it's an issue doesn't dismiss the fact that "suckish" people, as you say it, are overcompensating in a manner that either upsets or worries other people. As for a "touch" of God moding, I cannot disagree more strongly. A touch is the precipice of total disregard for rules, logic and courtesy to the people that are here both to play the game, but make a story. If all of our members were here just to smash each others brains in, it would be very short lived.

Regarding hurt feelings, I don't know. I'm not the Guild's player based, you'd have to ask each of them individually. I don't intend to name names until I am completely informed.

Ferregar, I like you, you're cool, but I saw some things in there that I can see would make a couple people mad, mainly the approval mods. I also saw something about OP skills, weapons, and talents. I'm not gonna beat around the bush here, I have a strong character, he can reach OP strength and speed at once[13/13], but a lot of the people here[I think, I know I did] balance their stuff out. Take example for my Talents and weapon for my current[soon to be killed off] RPC. I can reach 13/13, but I don't know s**t. He can use the skills that come directly from his weapon, and his talent skill. I'm just saying from my point of view that some things may seem OP at first glance, but they might be balanced, like me.

I feel like you have a beef with me by saying that first line. Yes, Tombz is a master. He was an Expert for the longest time in Axiom. And bullshit. Neko has respect for me, Snuff and Jack are both friends of mine, Cain is somewhat of a friend. They didn't hold back on mutilating my talent and denying it flat out.

As for the Grim Reaper thing, that's his thing. If his talent is becoming some Grim Reaper guy and trying to kill people like that, so be it. I started talents a long time ago for that reason, so even if we're of the same class, same race, same faction, know the same things, the characters would still be different.

My talent wouldn't have ever been approved even if I nerfed it. Then again, it wouldn't have been my talent if I nerfed it, now would it? It took away from the uniqueness of bloodlines and what not. Neko didn't like that, so she said no. Simple, as, that. I haven't lost sleep over it. I realized I don't need a talent or a mythical weapon. I can be strong in who my character is.

And please, give me an example of some of these out of line customs.

The Tournament would be something simple, that did provide growth, by bringing everyone together. They'd fight, meet new people, and go home knowing they participated. There's more to it then you think.

And don't twist my words around. You weren't there to fight Fenrir. You don't know what some of us had to do to even try and compete with him. You don't know the feeling of having to bow down to some p***k because he's so powerful, no one can fight him.

I guess what I'm really trying to say here Ferr, is you need to get a case together if your worried. Gather some moments where everything you've said has come into play. Then, bring it before the VC's and Captain. Let them deal with things.

You regarded half of his post as if he were accusing Rykros, but a lot of that was talking about Axiom, not Rykros. o3o
Just saying.

Now then. Why don't we all shut up for a moment.
It is in human nature to favor some over others. We are all guilty of this, whether we admit it or not. It's gonna happen regardless. The best we can hope for is that our mods can try their best to not do so.
There are quite a few OP things in this guild. Things that can be changed, but that's for another discussion. As long as everyone is on an even playing field, I'm good. In this kind of guild, there will always be OP skills. It's just how it is designed.
Sure, some of you may say "But if everyone is OP it's all even, right?" Not really. It's better than a handful being OP, but it's still just a game of who can be OP better.
The only way to fix these things is to talk some sense into the people in positions of power, and to appoint moderators who actually uphold the basic courtesies of Roleplaying without destroying all the fun in roleplaying.
PostPosted: Tue Aug 30, 2011 5:11 pm

I don't care if the truth upsets some approval mods. At least one of them feels like they accept OP powers on a daily basis BECAUSE other characters have OP skills, and thus they feel that they have to let others do the same so no one gets left behind. We're encouraging OP RPing by doing nothing to help enforce regulation on what people can and cannot do. Everyone has the right to one OP power, sure, I get that. But Antonio, explain to me how your character "doesn't know s**t?" He's stupid? He doesn't understand technology? 13/13 IS OP. IT IS OVERPOWERED, no matter how you spin it. Being stupid doesn't balance that at all. AND your weapon gives you awesome abilities all its own. As for your character being killed off that is an admirable thing, but aren't you doing that because you feel no desire to stay here? Because as you pointed out, you feel like some people hate you? When a person makes a list of the people that do and don't hate them in a guild, that's a fine example of how NOT drama free things can be here.

I have no beef with you. Urban. I don't have a beef with anyone here, and this isn't a personal attack on anyone. I am Master Rank too, so how does my mentioning Tombz's rank turn into an accusation? It's not. Did I say Rykros is RIFE with favoritism? I did not. I didn't even say there was alot of it. There's not. SOME. Not enough for it to really be a big issue, but some of our members have history together. Going through an experience like Axiom brings people together, and creates gratitude. The favoritism isn't even the issue here. It's minor by comparison to anything else I have mentioned.

Your talent would have been approved if you'd nerfed it. Obviously Neko's issue was you duplicating BLOODLINE powers. NOT skills. NOT abilities. NOT talents. How does nerfing a skill not make it Tombz's? Are you saying that powers that aren't all out or all encompassing can't be his because they're not strong enough? I'm not putting words in your mouth. I'm telling you what you make that sound like, so explain yourself to me.

Also, acknowledge the definition of TALENT. In Tombz's case, a photo-reflexive memory would have been considered a talent -some innate prodigal skill he has simply for being him. In Krayth's case, it's utilizing the element of surprise to hit occupied enemies where they hurt. Turning into Death is not a talent. It is deserving of its own category of power. It's God-Like.

There is not more to tournaments than I think. They are simple, and involve lots and lots of fighting. Also, given the sheer power of some of the characters present you can't possibly believe that a chummy "tap out" tournament would take place. People would die. People would cry bullshit at people trying to kill them. People would exceed their means to win. I GUARANTEE YOU. I have run two separate RP guilds, and moderated three RP forums in their entirety. With the scope of the characters we have, it's not going to happen.

Just because I wasn't there to fight Fenrir doesn't mean I lack such an experience. You think I don't know what it's like to witness nothing short of the biggest stack of God-Moded, auto-hit, auto-dodge horse s**t around? Fenrir's in the past, but it should be plain as day to you that such an experience demonstrates the importance of properly regulating everything. Of being detail oriented, and being Judicious and critical when it comes to approving any number of things. I am NOT talking about killing the fun. I'm not even talking about stripping people of all of their powers. I am stressing the importance of limits.

I am working on a case. That should be obvious. When more than one person engages in a discussion with me that involves frustration, anger or irritation at how things look like they have the potential to get out of control, I begin investigating. That's what I'm doing now. I'll say what needs to be said, and I expect everyone else to do the same. I'm not lighting myself on fire, crucifying anyone, or turning this into a witch hunt. Don't play it out that way, and don't claim that I am. I love this guild and everything it has to offer. That's why I know where this has the potential to go, and why I am speaking up now. No one has the right to stop me, just as I have no right to stop anyone else. It doesn't matter if I'm not crew. We're all in this as a Guild, and it's our responsibility to make one that lasts and is enjoyed by everyone.

This isn't Bleach. It isn't DBZ. There are no Saiyans or anything of the like for that very reason. Rykros is its own world. We have to define it and give it shape so that others can see it for what it is and not be intimidated into silence or frustration.
