Let's see... I've done one to track when an operator has to call a technician out to fix something in the refinery. The techs got sick of 4 am wakeup calls and so this program has the operator do basic troubleshooting before calling one up.

I've done another to allow employees to pledge donations to the local United Way agency in the company's yearly donation drive... that was fun cause I had to find a way to encrypt credit card account numbers and keep them secure.

And I just finished one to track the regenerations of the cations and zeolites in the boilers. (chemistry stuff I barely understand)

I hope to finish up one that'll manage employees leaving and coming into the refinery, as far as getting their security setup and getting them a computer and stuff goes.

And the refinery is an oil refinery. You know, the big evil oil corporations that are lambasted in the media on a regular basis? I love it here. It's the neatest thing to see the refinery working day in and day out.

We always make fun of ourselves for being "gun-toting Bush-voting conservative-Christian Republicans working for big oil" and call one of my coworkers the "token liberal."

Sounds exceptionally tedious and exciting. I need to become more savvy...Anyone have some tips about QuarkXpress? All I've heard is that it's extremely unnecessary, but I need it to make something pretty with to put in my portfolio so I can tackle an emphasis in Illustration.

Bugger thing costs a pretty penny of course. I need to stop being a chicken and make some big pretty picture...that looks excellent. Ah Photoshop...why do you always promise, yet inevitably suck away all my motivation?

Curse you Adobe and your Required status!!!!!

You're the first person to give a positive account of Quark, eeevil Shock!

I'm not sure why it's required but I need to make something in it to prove I know the program for my portfolio. I also need somethings in Illustrator and PhotoShop. I'm not sure if I need Indesign or not, but I have heard that it and Quark are very similar.

I suppose I must prove that, INDEED, I too can make a magazine!!

Or something...perhaps?

Just got back from vacation today! For a while I thought I'd lost my tablet pen, but I found it.

Im starting to save or a tablet and I scanner but tablets are better 3nodding

For editing, yes... but for art, I find my scanner indispensible. I can draw without a tablet, but if I do, I can't show it to people (or color it well) if I don't have a scanner.

Make sure you get a scanner too, is basically what I'm saying here.
