((EDIT: Okay, it should be good now.)) Kai sighed. He was too excited to sleep. Being a good fighter sounded so nice. He went off to the washroom to bathe. Tanner turned to Ryken. Glancing at the group and then back at Ryken, he said, "At ease, mate." He paused for a moment, giving a weak smile. "They're not much right now, but they'll be formidable by the time we get to where we're going." "Speaking of your scouting job, I think you've fufilled the objectives and I'll pay you tomorrow. But I'd like to give you another assignment if you don't mind." Tanner got right to the point. He didn't like to meander with his words much. "Could you please accompany us to destroy the fishmen's spawning grounds?" "We could use another good fighter to train the others and defend them. Aside from me, we only have Mr. Lucas, Pix and his friend, and now maybe you." "If you decide to come with us, you'll need to talk to Pix. He might have a special job for you or something... Anyway, I'll let you think about it. We leave tomorrow." Tanner turned to see Pix enter the lobby. "Speaking of Pix..."
He listened as Pix told him his grievance. "You don't have to worry about the women. I'll train them myself. I don't like to brag, but I have some charm and charisma, which you seem to lack sometimes." Tanner let out an awkward laugh. "How does that sound, Pix?" "Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce you two. Pix, this is Ryken, a scout I hired." Tanner smiled.

Kiro stared into Pix's eyes steadily with a little fear a little anxiety, but mostly anger for what he had just done to the girl. After Pix left he let out a low growl and paced a little back and forth until the booze came out he didn't bother wait for a queue or anything he just chugged it all down. Feeling a bit calmer he managed to relax, he could see the other person talking to the girl, be best not to surround her with people. He watched everyone come and go from a distance occasionally looking up at the clear sky. He's going to be a tough character to deal with, damn him. Well hopefully when this is al done I’ll be able to make him sweat a little in a fight he chuckled to himself with the idea of actually winning in a fight with Pix, but he knew it was nothing more then a fantasy. He could overhear the conforsation with Tanner and the new guy and felt a little insulted, but knew it to be a little true, he had killed animals but to kill a person is a bit different, then again they were only fighting strange fish things so it might be a bit easer...hopefully. Pix came back out looking he was about to pop a blood vessal, guess he was a little ticked, still he watched hoping he might find something out.

All Pix could do was shake his head," I'll never understand why you insist on training these kids..." with that he turned to the larger man sizing him up, "And you, I see ya have some experience, or else you wouldn'ta been hired. All I need ya to do is give them their drills and make sure they do 'em right. Can you handle that?" The man had obviously seen his share of combat and Pix decided he would not be intimidated easily and it probably wouldn't be a smart idea to try. But no one had ever accused Pix of being smart.

Okay? Alright? Was she? Nothing was broken...She looked down at her arm, getting a little feeling back and starting to hurt like hell. It would be fine but would start to bruise up like her neck, which was probably starting to turn a sickly shade of greenish-purple. Catriona turned her gaze on the floor once more, looking away from the man sitting next to her and feeling nervous in his nearness. "Pix..." she searched for words, her eyes flicking back and forth across the tile. He hadn't been at fault; she shouldn't have spoken out and deserved to be punished as she was. "I spoke out of line, sir."

He put his hand on her uninjured shoulder lightly. "There is no such thing as speaking out of turn. One thing that you have to learn is that from now on everyone's on equal grounds. Well except for Pix, he'll act like he's above all of you, but really he's not. From now on you have the freedom to do and say what you want. Also I'm sorry about what happened and that you're being forced to come along." he said feeling bad for her. He might have been a mercenary, but he was a kind person first. It had always been in his nature to be nice to others, it was just how he had been raised. "May I see where he kicked you?" He asked wanting to see if he could do anything to help her.

Catriona listened silently to the man's talk of equality and freedom but didn't really believe him. There was no such thing as equality in this day and age; there would never truly be equality as long as there were humans with opinions because people are not equal if they don't believe themselves to be equal. Catriona was not their equal; she was of the weaker gender and she was terribly uneducated. This was how she had been raised and had grown up hearing it her entire life. She would not immediately get used to the concept that these people seemed to want to treat her like they would treat each other - it would be a while and she hoped they had patience. When he asked to see her arm she moved a bit so his hand was no longer on her other shoulder and pulled the shoulder of her chemise down to reveal the red and tender skin, still not looking at him. She felt the skin of her chest and face flush as she exposed herself like this in front of all the people here but stared resolutely at her knees, knowing it would be over soon.

(Art is something I busy myself with, I'm not terribly good, but I've been getting better, I suppose.)
"Tomorrow? Sounds fine." He thought about the offer for a few seconds, then nodded his assent. "Yeah, I'll come with you. I seem to have gotten into a habit of risking my neck for people I don't know." He paused for a moment, then turned to Pix. "Of course." He silently wondered to himself if the man was always as angry as he was at the moment. "I don't fancy myself to be a great teacher, but I can handle that." He was, at least, patient enough for that. "I do have one question... were you really one of THE Harlequins?"

He looked at her shoulder which looked like it was already bruising. He touched it gingerly to make sure he didn't hurt her and mumbled to himself. He then pulled the small pack from his side that he carried with him. He looked inside and rummaged through the jars that were in there. He pulled out a few and looked at them studying the herbs and liquids in them. He pulled out a few more and put some back in. He the pulled out a small mortar and pestle and a bowl. He took some herbs from each of the jars and started grinding them into powder. He then poured some of the liquids from the other jars into the bowl. He mixed them and then he put the powdered herbs in it. He stirred it together and pulled out an empty jar. He poured the bowl's contents into it. He rinsed everything with water from another jar and put it all back in. He then handed her the jar of newly made medicine. "You should take three to four spoonfuls of this every morning for the next few days. It'll work better if you can heat it up and stir it some beforehand, but it's fine if you can't. It'll help reduce swelling and it should also help with the pain." He smiled after saying all of this. It was times like this that he liked the fact that he had picked up some basic medical skills as a child.

There are no such things as coincidence.((Whoa. He keeps all that in his bag at all times? Wouldn't it be heavy? Unless he used wizard space. xD))
Taking a bath really had helped Evacy, and now she was down by the stables, admiring the beautiful animals, occasionally stroking their manes. Slightly restless, she helped the grooms with this and that. Evacy silently wondered if Catriona was alright, Pix had kicked her hard. There is only hitsuzen

"One of 'em? Boy, I was out getting us killed one way or another when you were but a gleam in your daddy's eye. But that was a long time ago, there's new bigger mercenary forces, I've outlived my glory days and all I've got left is this little group of under trained rookies." He shook his head a little chuckling,"I suggest you rest up before tomorrow, they might be under trained but they're stubborn as mules."

"Bigger isn't always better, you know. They may be green but most of them look like they have potential, and could very well be ready by the time we're finished with 'em." He smirked. "There will always be jobs that skilled mercs can do that a hundred others would get themselves killed doing." He stretched at the mention of rest. "Oh, I plan to. I've been working almost nonstop for the past couple days, and I look forward to resting up."
