Costs quite alot though.

Thanks for the advice everyone. The kit that I'm currently looking at:

Inquisitor Lord
-Needle Pistol, Daemonhammer, Artificer Armor, Icon of the Just, Grimoire of True Names, Destroy Daemon, and maybe a few other things.

3x Acolytes
-Combi-Needle Pistols, Carapace Armor

3x Warriors
Meltaguns

1x Familiar
2x Sages

So...yeah, that's my current kit. I'm aiming to protect it all, 'cause for fighting Daemons, he'll be closing range pretty quickly. Lots of Psycannons all through the force, with Incinerators to take care of Nurgling swarms.

INQUISITORS DON'T BELONG IN CLOSE COMBAT

Why not?

Likle Cal said it looks like they'll be in close combat fairly quickly. I mean look at the odds, Blood Letters, Nurgling stuff, Daemonettes. (mind you this is if we are fighting Demons.

The general reason he's got is that Inquisitors just don't last long in CC against most races. Moderate WS, low strength and toughness, and only a few attacks. Combat Servitors strike last in assaults, and they're really only good against Daemons.

Understandable. However The Inquisitor is only as strong as his Retinue really. Thats how it was meant to be played out, so thats how I play it. Not like they aren't already boned against anything not named Chaos or Daemons.

The reason being is that henchmen are guardsmen with the exception of the warrior who gets a hellgun and higher attribute points. The Inquisitor is a multi-wound/multi-attack Veteran.

Alternatively, attach your =][= to Inquisitorial Stormtroopers or Guardspeople to add some potency to them. A retinue is the most common, but not the only option.

By the way, fighting against Chaos isn't really desirable as they get special rules such as sustained attack.[/size]

I know that the daemons gain sustained attack, which is definitely a concern for me. However, my friend and I wanted to fight through a fluffy battle and this was one that we decided on.

My force thus far is definitely going to include:

That Inquisitor setup I posted
Vindicare Assassin (to deal with Epidemius)
Grey Knight Hero (most likely a Brother Captain, as I don't need the Force Weapon effect)
Land Raider Crusader w/ Psycannon Bolts

Fluff wise, Inquisitors don;t belong in battle because they seek out heretics, from back water to Hive Worlds. They are detectives, and their main job isn;t going out to fight in a war, but to skillfully coerce a suspected heretic into confessing his sins and receiving the emperor's forgiveness.

I'll argue that with the fluff from the beginning of the Daemon Hunters codex where an Inquisitor scales a mountain by himself, charges into the middle of a Chaos enclave and starts kicking a** by himself.

Isn't it that they only get that when you use a grey knight unit against chaos/daemons?

Funny that you say it if that's how it is, since grey knights are high in costs because they are good against daemons and just plain overpriced against anyone else. neutral

When facing a normal chaos army I would never see it as a concern, only when facing a big army of normal chaos daemons, though that's when you field alot of inncinerators and psycannons. wink

There is the Eisenhorn type of Inquisitor and there is the Cotaez type of Inquisitor. One is a detective with a background in sci-fi pulp, the other a power armoured holy warrior.

I haven't had the chance to read most of the things you guys have, but you gotta admit, the Codex is gonna try and fluff their people up a bit. Gotta make it glorious.

There are Inquisitors of all kinds and calibres, the ones in the codexes can be of any kind, but they have an army because their either commandeer it or asks for aid to purge a larger threat, if a smaller threat is around they tend to go alone or take a group of people (retinues etc), if you rather play like that you should play kill-teams or the Inquisitor game.

Gotta love Inquisitors with las pistols and normal CC killing untold daemons...

So yea, Digital Weapon's Wargear thoughts on it. I was reading my codex over and it caught my eye.
