NO NO NO NO ALL THE PICCIES! Such a beautiful dog! The red colour looks so good on her! Our new dog wears purple, she got a new collar today and my thumbs hurt from pulling the council tags off her other one to put them on the new one. AHAH ANTLERS! We have foam antlers for Tisha (link because big picture may stretch post) antlers are the best XDD
Beans is a beautiful name ^^ Because TOES and then you poke the toebeans and they're like 'why u do this?' XDD
And thankies, they were the kinds of friends where one did whatever the hell she liked and the dog just went along with it. 'You're bigger than her, you need to be gentle.' 'But... but it's my bed... and she nibbles the sleep out of my eyes and squawks when I move it...'
Thank you all for participating in Tears of the Sea as members of Team Aquarian!

Ooooh purple is always a good color, too! Ty!! Red is definitely her color. She's not bad in pink, either! UGH THOSE TAGS!!!
OMGGGG ANTLERRRRS I'm so happy to find another owner that does the antler thing lmao!! That picture is absolutely to die for, lookit that FACE!!!
RIGHT? Her original name was Athena, but we already had the little terrie-mix dog whose name was Mina, so we changed it! She answered to Jelly or Beans and it stuck! The people she came from sounded like some of the worst kinds of people as far as pet ownership goes, so it was nice to not remind her of those past times with that name, anyways, I think!
long story semi short if interested, so I don't seem so CRYPTIC and ALOOF lmao
Her origin story is one day my mom was going shopping at a local grocery store. There was a family of two adult women, a teen and a baby/toddler just kind of... standing outside the front of said store, with a dog on a leash. As people walked past, they would ask if someone wanted the dog. Their story was that they were moving and couldn't take her with. My mom said no at first, because we had JUST had our dog Shady pass, and were down to two doggos.
But later when she was walking past them in the store (they had left the dog outside w/ the baby and teen), she overheard them talking about how they would just drop Ms. Future-Jelly-Bean off on a country road somewhere?!? I mean... First off she's clearly a pit mix, and she's goofy as heckle. She'd have never had a chance! Anyway...
As she was checking out she was looking out the windows at the dog and baby/toddler/tot who was playing with the dogs ears. Like, REALLY ROUGHLY, as kids do when they aren't taught not to grab, pull, and bite at an animal? and the dog(again, future Ms. Beans) just wagged her tail and kept licking the toddler's face. She said she knew she couldn't walk by, and asked them some info and said she'd take the dog.
They claimed she was just coming up on a year old, and had never had pups(yes, it was weird they specified that...), and of course we found out a vet visit or two later that both those were most likely untrue. She's about four, now!
Right before we moved out of that area recently, my mom recognized those same two women in the same store. She was an aisle away and they were being a bit loud over the toddler/idk what age that kid would be now, anyway- they obviously not only hadn't moved, but were talking about how their OTHER dog was pregnant 'AGAIN' by ANOTHER of their dogs. I mean i try not to make assumptions, but I can only imagine they are the type of owners to not spay/neuter, or at the very least attempt to separate based on gender+just keeps perpetuating that cycle, and just throw away their pets when they aren't useful or become too much to handle :/
even if they did somehow move and just kept going to that same store, I can't fathom why someone would just abandon such a good dog, otherwise sad
only thing she needed to be broken of was begging for food, and tearing up things when you leave. She acted like they must've only paid attention when she was bad, you know what I mean? Took her awhile to really settle into herself, there.
ahem, SORRY THAT WAS SO LONG
Oh my gossshhhh they sound like were the cutest pair! Was it hard to get them to get along/get used to each other, or generally easy-ish??? I love the name Tisha(Is it short for Morticia, or are they two diff puppers???)!!! what are her quirks???

You'll never find a person who understand what you're saying there about names as much as me. Our dog in the purple is Amylia (an older photo, she is much bigger now). I don't know if she ever had a name from her original owner, but when the puppy mill she lived on was raided for reprehensible cruelty, the RSPCA named her Maxxie. So stupid. She didn't know it, she didn't respond to it. We decided Amylia because you have to smile when you say it. A-MYLE-ia. So she recognises her name is a good thing and it's a good thing to be called.
Amylia and Morticia are pitbulls also ^^ Morticia is purebred, and Amylia... The way they check for pitbull 'status' (because it's a death sentence) is by measuring. A pit bull is square. Morticia was a square but she was the HAPPIEST. SQUARE. YOU. EVER. SAW. So when the council came to seize her (even though we have six foot fences, like the law says!) they were like 'yah. uh. we have eyes. that's a pitbull. but.' *Tisha smiles, grins, snots, whips them with her tail* 'She's completely harmless, we'll put her as a staffy mix.'
Amylia may indeed, after having her for a year, be square. But when we got her, even after being at the RSPCA for 6 months (she was the last last from the mill to be adopted) she had put on only enough weight to not be starving. I took her for walks and I was ashamed because it looked like we didn't feed her. We had to teach her to eat from a bowl because the RSPCA only hand fed her because she simply didn't know. She eats from the bowl, she is fine now, she has a HUGE yard, she has PACKED on MUSCLE and she looks wonderful, but she doesn't have the fat on her face that Beans and Tisha have.
Amylia's about four too ^^
Oh I see what you mean there. About the attention and stuff. We actually have had horrible luck with dogs ever, except with Tisha and Amylia. Dogs sometimes just don't like you. *shrug* you can love them and feed them and all and they just don't want to be with you. One of our dogs was fed by a neighbour and he'd constantly escape to see her to the point where he hated us for taking him home. Sometimes rehoming is the best thing. But that's not a thing you do out of convenience. Important is that Amylia chose us. She knocked my mum down when she went to see her. Like 'I LIKE YOU VERRAH MUCH!' and knocked her into the chainlink fence. She *wants* to be with us. Yeah, she likes running around and she might slip out because ADVENTURE but she wants to come home.
If it makes you feel any better, the man who ran the puppy farm was charged with 215 animal cruelty counts and he died of cancer in July before he could be sentenced. Mum was working at the courthouse when he was charged last year and he didn't turn up. They really tried to bring him to justice.
Tisha is short for Morticia, as well as Tish, Tishie and (from my mother) Morticia-Delicious. Tisha likes small things that are not dogs (including kittens), the bird used to walk around and get cranky at Tisha and claim the bed because it felt nice on her feet (it was mesh for air-circulation). She just knew she wasn't allowed to eat the bird, didn't really want to, and they got along as well as a large murder-dog and a cranky flightless bird can. I was uploading my favourite picture to show you and the whole computer crashed @_@ Here it is anyway! The fluffy white shape on the left is the bird, Princess Mickey and Tisha was maybe watching to see if Mum came home or me to come home or something. It's a nice picture, though ^^
Quirks? Well Tisha's always so happy to see me, the happiest in the world. This is her face when she sees me come home her tongues it flicking over her teeth because she's grinning and snotting. Grinning? What does that- OH GOD THAT'S TERRIFYING.

Also sorry for long. But fun piccies ^^
Awwwh! Love her name, that's absolutely adorable!!! obviously she thought so too, what with all the smiles aimed her way! emotion_kirakira
A few dogs at the no-kill shelter I work for were given random names, and they don't respond to em at all. You gave me some good ideas!!! I never even thought about trying to find words that would cause positive facial expressions before but that's absolutely genius!!!!
Awwwh, I know what you mean w/ the dogs sometimes choosing an owner! I love your stories and piccies you don't ever have to apologize omg T^T
But I know what you mean, seems like people don't always remember that dogs have individual personalities, too! Sometimes some dogs aren't going to uh.... enjoy your company >.> ? To put it lightly?? LOL
I would never wish another being true harm, but I'm glad that guy seemingly got a bit of karma/divine justice/whatever you'd want to call it, having had cancer. Sucks he couldn't also have been brought to justice in court, though xc
And I'm so glad those puppers found such a good home to be in! T^T
PRINCESS MICKEY IS THE BEST NAME
LITERALLY THE CUTEST MOST TERRIFYING FACE EVER HOLY COW
That face with the tongue is melting my heart
Morticia-Delicious sounds like a SUPER COOL band name
You should copyright that! wink

Well to be COMPLETELY honest, Mum was going for all crazy names, Minerva, and Amelia and I am like -_- no none of those fit. And then I remembered 'Smiley Miley' Now I am no fan of Miley Cyrus, she exists, she seems like a fun and nice person, but I'm not into her music. Nor her dad. But her name wasn't Miley, it's Destinee but everyone called her 'Smiley Miley' because she was such a cheerful child to the point where she thought that was her name. I can relate; my name is [firstname] but everyone called me [firstname]-[middlename/first part of middlename] and I thought [firstname]-[middlename] was my name. Turns out- nope. But I changed it and now it is.
But. Smiley Miley stayed in my brain (like so many other useless facts- this is how Chuck E Cheese got its name because you have to smile when you say it) and so I said 'Amylia instead of Amelia because of the face and mum was like 'Yes' and it has DEFINITELY worked.
Dogs can read human facial expressions so I would definitely encourage positive face names. 'My' is good, also long 'ee' sounds like Chuck E. Cheese (try it, try saying it). (Sissy, for example. Brucey. Mikey) Also, you probably know this, but an interesting thing is that dogs (going back to being rewarded for bad behaviour) confuse sounds and so it is important not to call your dog something that sounds like 'no'- I read this is a Meg Cabot novel when I was a tween (omg) where a girl named her dog 'Monet' after the painter and he was badly behaved. They changed the name to 'Manet' and his behaviour improved.
I feel you so hard there. Some people get so ANGRY about people rehoming dogs and it's like 'but. they're. not. toys? They're. Alive? And. Have. Opinions?' There's a difference from a badly trained dog or a naughty dog and one that just doesn't love you and liking is not enough, it honestly isn't.
That man... Look, the universe sentenced him to death and made his last months scary from the trouble of the court case. Look at Amylia's picture and remember that man made it so she could see a bowl of food in front of her and not go near it. Imagine how he did it- actually don't. That's some special cruelty there. There's worse but yeah. Tisha would sit on her bed and wait for her dinner. She would sit and wait because she knew she would eventually get it. Amylia was not fed at all. A hungry dog doesn't avoid food in a dog bowl unless something's wrong.
A lighter note- Tisha occasionally maybe thought maybe I forgot to call her? ANd would creep into the kitchen (as well as a murder-dog can creep) and I would say 'Get on your bed.' and she would be like 'Yeah, cool, I was just checkin'' and then. She would turn the corner juuust out of my sight. ANd sit there and wait. Except. The light was on in the loungeroom where her bed was and I could see her shadow waiting. I didn't make her get on her bed. It was too funny XD As long as she waited, that's the point, because our dogs are so big if they ran to the food they may hurt us by accident.
I think Amylia's in the best place with us. We had to teach her about inside/outside because she was never inside a house before, just outside and in kennels, about dog bowls, we taught her her name, how to sit and IMPORTANTLY we taught her NO. The RSPCA did not teach her NO. They're like 'so negative' NO NO. NO. People in other countries have it RIGHT they call it 'cease' command or something. That's not negative, it means STOP and it's important! We had the horses in the backyard when mum brought Amylia home and she took off to see these new creatures, slipped the leash off my hand, and Freyja (our cranky mare) nearly kicked her in the head! I was like 'Oh the RSPCA is going to blacklist us, we killed the dog the first day!' because she wasn't stopping when we shouted 'no'. Negative my left big toe. Amylia and Freyja get on very well, they race down the fence when Freyja visits, in a friendly way. Our dog knows 'no' and she doesn't feel bad or think we're mad at her because we reinforce positive behaviour, but to say 'no' is negative is stupid. Because the next week after we got her Amylia nearly killed a chicken that wandered into our yard and I ran to her and screamed 'no, stop, don't' and she had no clue, Amylia was used to killing things to eat them, though, so it wasn't aggression, it was learned behaviour and the chicken survived, she'd just plucked some feathers.
But when Tisha was introduced to the horses, because we got them after we got Tisha, she was like 'Ehhh. Hmm...' walked right up to Odin, and was like 'Allo giant hay-eating doggie. This my yard, that's my mum, but you can stay if we're friends.' And rubbed her back on his leg while he looked at us like 0___0 Muuuummmy????
She always got shy of the camera when we tried to take pictures of her smiling XDD The tongue one, I did get a smiley one also but she was VIBRATING so hard it was fuzzy XDD
Morticia-Delicious sounds like Gomez Addam's garage band and they only ever do love songs about his wife XD

Lol XD Yeah we have five horses at the moment. Odin, Freyja, Alfador, Gersemi (Jessie), and Orianna. Odin's the biggest but when he met Tisha he was scared of puddles and she was just so secure. Like 'never seen somethin' like this. I guess we're friends. Stay still, I have an itchy spot.'
So. Odin's stockhorse quarterhorse (possibly?) Orianna's quarterhorse or stockhorse (maybe?) we don't know, she was a mercy buy. Alfador is arabian warmblood, Freyja is arabian warmblood with percheron and her baby Jessie, because her father is SO ARABIAN is just warmblood arabian, the percheron isn't counted.
Odin used to drink out of the absolutely filthy above-ground pool. Why should he have to dip his head to drink? He knew he wasn't allowed and he was sneaky-sneaky and would crop the grass at the base. Then look <.<>.> and then take a siiip...
(From the house) ODIN, NO!
Odin flings his head back and canters off THEY CAUGHT MEEEE~!
When you say 'Freyja-Proofing' at the place we keep our horses, that's actually a thing. It's escape preventative bungee cord or whatever because Freyja escapes. She's got an evil mind, she hates EVERYONE except me for some reason (I think she thinks there's somthing wrong with me and it would be shameful for her to pick on somebody not quite right).
Jessie is a cheeky little hug-monster and she will trap you with her body and fart, run away, and then come and do it again.
Alfador had a kiss spot on his nose that looks like someone's hand putting up the middle finger.
Orianna escaped the house yard soon after we got her and I was like '*^^*^' because we got Orianna from an abusive home, they completely broke her mind trying to start her under saddle in the most inhumane ways. She's been there for a month and her whole sweet nature was just crushed into 'FEAR'. And I was like 'HOW AM I GET THIS HORSE TO NOT DIE PLACE?' I texted my mum and ran out and by then I couldn't see her so I yelled out 'Orianna!!' and I hear these hoofbeats coming around the far corner- the one close to the busy road >.<- and I also see... a jogger !!!!!!! *_* This horse CAREENS around this corner AND this poor jogger who probably crapped herself and comes down to me, because she knows her name, I guess, we'd had her for about 2 weeks. I tried to catch her for about 30 minutes but mostly I just kept her near the houseyard and away from the road. ALMOST caught her but mum called and Orianna got spooked but she was very easy for mum to catch since I calmed her down so far.

Freyja is my favourite, even over the baby. I don't watch Sherlock, but there's a pic
And it's just... that's how it is. You can't feel so so so bad about yourself when someone who will BITE THEIR OWN MOTHER (My mum) SO HARD TO LEAVE SCARS will just... let you catch her. Be nice to others around you when she would normally bite everyone, let you brush her, give you warning instead of immediately biting your head off like she would for anyone else. You can't be that bad if someone who hates the whole world likes you.
It was very scary, but Orianna is doing SO well. Everyone is. We'll start her and Jess under saddle sometime, we think if he do it RIGHT it might help her, you know? She's still very skittish. She got spooked once when I was visiting her and didn't go near me for the next two visits and I was very fine with letting her process and not come near me ONCE. And then I was like 'NO. NOTHING HAPPENED. AND YOU ARE NOT GOING TO AVOID ME.' So I just (no ropes or anything) went up to her, didn't let her get away from me, and gave her some pats. Not very long, few minutes. Just to crush the 'EM IS SCAREH' mentality. Em's okay. Freyja's scary.
