Day 5 He was all at once glad and sad that Alec stated he thought of him as a friend as he recalled his nasty habit of vacillating between one personality and the next. From the very moment he attended the festival he was playing a part, deploying his ability as a social chameleon from the word go so as to fit in and be accepted by those around him. He stared down at his boots with the heavy realization that he wasn’t even sure he would naturally get along with Alec, if only he knew what his natural state was. Allowing the moment to pace unimpeded he kept his thoughts from his face and moved on to the next topic at hand.
“So does that mean you will be going through puberty soon?” Placing a self-satisfied grin upon his features he scanned the crowd that was becoming more settled by the moment before turning his attention back on Alec. They boy was relatively small even for a fifteen year old but he had enough personality to make up for it and then some. “Had you kicked me any harder you might have exhausted yourself.” His focus was once more turned from the boy to his hands as Alec responded to his earlier comment about having them tended to. “Well, I suppose you could imitate the old romantic stories and tear a piece of your clothing to shreds in order to bind my wounds.” He joked further, not really understanding that Alec was genuinely willing to help him. Nobles rarely ever showed concern for one another unless they were hoping elevate their business relationship, were feeling exceptionally lustful or actually gave a damn about the members of their family. Mostly their lives were centered on increasing their standing, wealth or notoriety, nothing more.
There it was again, the image of an ivory tower looming in front of his vision. The window that he had refused to look out of until his friends had unwittingly forced him to and the veil of ignorance he had been so comfortable wearing, and still clung to this very day. Taking his eyes from the red head’s he found himself staring once more at the Utopia float. He was exactly like one descended from an ivory tower, he was just better at pretending than most or, at least that is what he thought. “Yea.” He responded absentmindedly. The real blow, however, occurred with Alec’s last sentence. Wasn’t so bad? But wasn’t he? Wasn’t he simply here to satiate his own twisted curiosity? To observe these people like the farm animals the nobles claimed they were? Sure he felt for them, but he couldn’t even be certain it was genuine or if, again, it was simply him adopting a role. Image was everything, so how could he be sure he wasn’t merely upholding an image?
He nearly turned to leave then and there but soon realized that leaving wouldn’t solve the deeper issue at hand here. Clearing his throat and reaffirming the part he was to maintain he responded with ease. “Unless this festival of peace ends up being the death of us.”

Day 6: Chasing Horses Edit: Done randomizing! Horses of these names BEGIN in these zones, check latest posts for their current position: 3: Stevequine-caught! 9: Stallbert-caught! 12: Neighbelline 13: Haya 5: Horstense
***Signups Closed!
The morning after.
After disaster had hit that day, the rest of it was spent cleaning up and keeping a list of the damages. Many youths were lauded for their heroics, by which many townspeople were saved. Casualties: None, thanks to them. Except maybe a ridiculously expensive barge, and a girl's mouse costume and trust in humanity.
Either way, the town authorities had gotten together and voted the parade resume, but only when fully prepared and after checking all of the barges over for problems. Many volunteers had signed off, but surprisingly enough, most were resilient and wished to finish what they had begun.
The morning after, most work had been taken care of; what it came down to now was capturing and bringing back some of the horses who had stampeded off and escaped... they had been clever enough to evade capture.
*** Are you tired of rolling 4-sided dice yet? You're in luck! Today's game is more challenging as it requires teamwork (At least two people to catch a horse) and self-organization (making the horses move where you want them)! These horses are smart!
Shinganshina may be small compared to your average district inside of Wall Maria, but it's still large enough to be divided into 16 zones. See if you can spread out and investigate different zones. There are clever ways to go about this.
* Zones connected by a bridge count as adjacent.
** You all begin in Zone 1!
***You are each equipped with:
> One apple (passively lures the horse toward the player when it's in the SAME zone. You will always SEE the horse when it's in the same zone, but it does not come close enough for you to catch it. You are essentially DISTRACTING it. The apple's effect is cancelled when anyone in that zone fires a signal flare.)
> One Lasso (when a horse is in the SAME zone, being DISTRACTED by ANOTHER player in the SAME zone, and NOBODY HAS FIRED a signal flare in the SAME zone their last post, you can sneak up from behind and lasso the horse that is being distracted by the OTHER player. Congrats! You caught the horse! Note that this is not possible without at least one other player in the same zone.)
> Green signal flares (to tell people when a horse is in your zone, but it has TWO effects. Using it scares the horse into an adjacent zone: Randomize a number between 1-16, and the adjacent zone whose number is closest is the one the horse ran to. If there are two numbers who are equally closest, pick the higher one. Ex.: You are in zone 2, and randomized the number 2. Adjacent zones to zone 2 are 1, 6, 7 and 3. 1 and 3 are equally close to 2, but 3 is higher. Therefore, the horse ran to zone 3. Second of all, it also scares horses from adjacent zones from moving in your zone on their next movement. ex.: You are in Zone 6 and fire the signal flare. The next time someone fires a signal flare in the adjacent zones, which are zones 2, 7 and 10, the horse can NOT run to zone 6.)
> Red signal flares (to tell people when there is no horse in your zone. This scares any horse in any adjacent zone from entering that zone on its next movement. Same example as above! )
Every post, you can either: A) Stay in that zone looking for a horse and passively lure with your apple. B) Move to an adjacent zone (zones connected by a bridge count as adjacent.) Neighbelline, Horstense and Haya will always flee a zone when a SECOND PERSON enters their zone. C) If there is a horse in the same zone as you, you may fire a green signal flare D) When there's no horse in the same zone as you, you can fire a red signal flare E) Use your lasso, but it only works in the conditions specified above.
****Always Declare In Bold Which Zone you are in and your action at the beginning of your post and WHAT HAPPENS TO THE HORSE Ex.: Zone 1, Red Signal Flare| No horses Ex.: Zone 1, Green Signal Flare | Neighbelline flees to Zone 2 (you edited this in after randomizing the number as described) Ex.: Zone 2, Nothing | Luring all horses that enter zone
Running Into Fields
***** IMPORTANT: When a horse is scared away from Zone 5, 11, 12, 15, or 16 it is ALWAYS INTO THE FIELD (Green). It is impossible to catch a horse in the field. Therefore, you must wait for it to reappear in the city.
After a horse has been scared into a field, the person who scared it into the field has to generate a random number between 1 and 16. Out of Zone 5, 11, 12, 15 and 16, The number closest to the number generated is the field the horse reappears in after that roll.
If two of those numbers are equally close to the number generated, the higher number is the zone the horse reappears in.
IN SHORT
The goal is basically to use the red and green flare's different effects to scare the horse into a player-occupied zone where it can be caught. It can only be caught in a zone with two players who didn't use flares on their turn. Then one of the players who was luring lassoes the horse and voila!
Alternatively you make the horse flee into an adjacent zone that already has someone luring, and use your next turn to move into that zone (AKA you begin luring there) and then the other guy can lasso.
Uh oh! The horses have heard their brethren getting caught and leveled up!! Now, when a second player enters the zone they are in, they will run off! When you enter a zone already occupied by a horse and 1 person, randomize a number between 1 and 16. The adjacent number zone closest to that number is where the horse runs to!! (As usual if two zones are equally distant from the randomized number, the horse flees to the higher numbered one)

Moving to zone 2
The parade really was a pain in the a**. Now there was all this clean up to do and there were several horses on the loose in the district. Shun was wondering why he was helping out now, but here he was, equipped with several 'horse capturing' tools. He supposed if the horses belonged to the scouting legion that'd be one incentive, but he wasn't entirely certain if this was the case.
Crossing one bridge, he looked around, then shook his head. There were no horses here.

After some well deserved rest, and further dedication to never go near the river again, Danny was up bright and early, ready to help the restoration effort in whatever way she could. Instead of chopping wood or building new floats, she instead found herself chasing horses.
Well, at least she had a friend. "Commander Shun! .... Race you there!!" Apple, lasso and flare guns tucked neatly into her belt, Danny took off down the street at a breakneck speed. She was going to get the glory for this one!

Moving to zone 3
Oh right. He had Danny following him too of all people. Shun didn't respond to the girl. Not with words anyway. He just sort of grunted at her begrudgingly as she bolted off.
"Dammit, you're going to scare the ******** horses away if you keep that s**t up," he hissed while picking up speed to keep up. He moved over obstacles in his way with relative ease, usually opting to go over or under them rather than around when possible.

Danny giggled and said, "I'm not gonna scare the ponies, ponies love me!" She was overeager and one hundred percent ready to hunt down some of these horses.
"You think we'll find one soo-" She rammed into Shun's backside, having caught up to him, and used her arms to stop herself (and Shun, thankfully) from falling over. "Look!" she whispered, pointing over his shoulder. "Pony!!"
Indeed, there was a spooked horse, rearing and nearly crushing a few people that ran away. "Aw, he's just scared is all. You still have the apple they gave us? I ate part of mine so I don't think it's any good to us ..."

Day 5
"Ah, cut the romantic crap. That's gross." He scoffed, his cheeks a bit red ignoring him and after adjusting Ashley in his arms he tore off one his long sleeves from his button down he'd worn for the equine show, pulling them into stripes carefully eyeing the length. Ignoring the puberty comment, knowing well enough neither of his biological parents had been very tall he had a feeling it wouldn't yield to much in the years to come. "Just stick your damn hands out you jerk." he muttered, chuckling some before grabbing hold of his wrists, and doing just that. Alec stared at the task, not very good at wrapping or anything, but he'd had to bandage himself up a time or two after getting into scuffles as a youngster. Once he had securely tied off the makeshift bandage he leaned back away from the over to give him space, unaware of the emotional turmoil the noble suffered form. Having only face value to go off.
He was a naive kid, who believed in human beings, even when they were at there worst. "There, good as it'll get. I aint no doctor." He laughed grunting as he stood up bringing his sister with him. "I gotta get her home..thanks again see you around?" He offered with a small smile. He cast a glance in Shankuntala's way, Lillian, and Farvardin knowing he had to let them know, and would shortly. "Don't look so gloomy, thats my job to worry about dying. Tomorrows another day." Little did he know what kid of day it would be.

Zone 3 | Using Apple
"Yeah right," Shun scoffed. When he came to a halt, he soon felt Danny barreling into him. At this, he turned and gave her a sharp glare while surprising the urge to clock her in the head for that. Instead, he looked over to where she had pointed. It looked fairly frightened at the moment.
"You ate your apple? Dammit it all, just how stupid are you?" grumbled, "Go try and get around it then. And don't let yourself ******** get seen."
Shaking his head, he fished out the apple and whistled to get the horse's attention.
"Here...boy? I have a nice treat for you," he said, using a softer tone than what he had spoken with towards Danny, "Don't worry. It's not poisoned or anything like that."

Zone 3 | Using Lasso | Stevequine get!
Danny shrugged to Shun and hissed, "Only part!" before scooting down an alley. She was a vigilante. A knight. Not the hero that Shinganshina deserved, but the one it needed-
As soon as it began nuzzling the apple out of Shun's hand, Danny leapt into action. She bolted forward, far too fast and hurdled herself onto the horses back, slipping the lasso around its neck. She then tossed the rope to Shun to hold the horse down.
It was NOT the way you were supposed to lasso a horse. At all. But Danny was too stupid to figure out how to do it, and it was working, right?
"YEEHAW!!!!"
Danny had completely lost sight of their goal.

The night before had been a bit of chaos really. The madness that had erupted was like a distant nightmare now. Ashley had recovered well, a slight cold from landing in the water but nothing major. Alec still felt foggy, but he was up early when he heard horses were still lost in the Shinganshina district. Who better to lead a few stragglers who looked a bit dazed than himself. He made route deliveries and could lead them quickly through out the districts. Alec hoped anyway.
"Hey you two, come on this way, we'll cross the bridge and head into the next part of town." he waved a gloved hand, back in his usual street attire wearing a determined look. Those horses were going to save themselves. "We got some horses to find." The fiery head head was already off marching, leading both Lillian and Nikolaus. Alec had bummed into them while the situation was unfolding, and teams were being broken down. He didn't mind guiding the pair. He was quick to cross the bridge in a bit of a hurry, but still keeping close to them so not to allow them to get lost.

Lillian was tired. There was rope burns on her hands, soreness in her muscles, and dust on every inch of her clothing. She wanted a bath and a warm bed. Despite everything in her mind telling her to go home she knew she couldn't; She still had a job to finish. The horses. She wanted to see them up close, but it was bad enough the first time she got to see them she was knocked out by one. Now she was following Alec to god knows where in the city to wrangle them back up.
"Normally I would slap you Alec.. but.. let's.. just get this over with. And go home." She limped behind both him and Nikolaus, sighing.
She knew she would rather lead, but she had no business doing so. He knew the route better, and she would follow.

His head still ached from the blow the evening before but, against his better judgment, he had decided to go out to see whether or not the catastrophe of the barges had been cleared up. He was amazed to find that they had not cancelled but instead were seeking to start the parade back up again. The fortitude of these people after something as horrific as people nearly being smashed and drowned astounded him.
He did not have much time to think on the matter as the announcement was made that horses needed to be reclaimed and they were looking for volunteers. The moment the words struck him he wished for nothing more than to retire to his room at the inn and forget about the entire thing, but a certain redhead would not allow for that to happen. With little more than a grunt and a wave of his hand he followed the overenthusiastic boy, wishing he had a glass of wine to accompany him on his way.
A female voice removed him from his slump and he looked over to see a girl he did not recognize. He at once felt ashamed for ignoring her but his charm left much to be desired as his headache left him less than regal. “Hello.” He said kindly yet simply.

Even as Alec moved forward, his head pounded. He'd had trouble relaxing that night, as his splitting headache persisted. However, they had much more pressing matters to attend to. "When we get closer..we need to talk about how we are going to do this. I think splitting up once we hit the 3rd sector might be wise...or heading into 4 and using our flares perhaps?" Alec began to explain, also asking for there input of they had it to give. They'd have to be careful so they didnt loose there target. "Hello Nik, this is Lily--- DOn't call her that. Make sure you use Lillian." Alec looked back over his shoulder at the two. Quickly explaining.
"Don't slap me Lily..I'm just trying to get us there." He looked a bit sheepish smiling at her.
"I'm going to see about saving some time and cut threw the city a bit. Come on, this way. " he ducked into an alley, weaving around a few side streets. "we each have an apple, and our two flares right?" The situation was being discussed lightly. The accounted reports of the horse in the 9th sector of the city meant they had to prioritize how they handled signaling the horse.

Lillian rolled her eyes. She didn't want to be introduced to anyone. Hell, them talking could scare off any horses nearby. Still, she knew what Alec was doing. It was a long, long... long day. He just wanted to make everything right again. Shrugging, she nodded to Nik to acknowledge his presence. Besides, they would need to help each other.
"I said I would NOT slap you.. don't make me change my mind. Keep your voice down...."
She listened to Alec, then followed him through the alley. She nodded to confirm on their supplies.

However much he resisted the idea of movement at first he noticed the air and walking were making him feel a tad more chipper than he initially had been. Still, he could sense the overall atmosphere of the group was a gloomy one and he couldn't blame them. The events at the parade were enough to leave anyone feeling glum.
"Well, if we see nothing in three we can just head as a group into four, increase our chances in case we run into something there." He responded lazily. "Ms. Lillian." He concluded the rather shambled greeting.
"Sounds fine to me, shorter the distance the quicker we can finish." He chuckled hollowly. "And the lasso."
