Several Days Later
Rath walks through a courtyard within Eyris Castle as the afternoon winds down. His mind is heavy and does not notice the man sitting on a bench until he clears his throught. Rath pauses a moment, before walking over to sit down next to Lord Zeon.
"You've returned."
"The group remained to help the village that was destroyed, but I returned early with the body. Were you able to check what I asked in my letter?"
"...Yes. I'm afraid there's more missing than what you found."
Rath sighs lightly. "He said he was saving them... that someone or something was coming... It appears our original suspicions were correct."
"Saving...?" Lord Zeon scoffs. "Well... in a strange way, maybe he was. At least we can account for some of them, now."
"... ...Right."
Lord Zeon glances at Rath. "We both wanted him to have been the one... but he wasn't. We'll just have to proceed from here, and that's that."
"I know... thank you."
"What will you do now?"
Rath remained silent as he stood up. "...I think I'll go home, for now... I'd like to have dinner with my daughter... and enjoy the sunset..."
"A bold change from staying up all night doing work in your office."
"This mission had so much death. ...I'd like to enjoy life for a while."
With a slight bow of his head, Rath tuns and walks off. As Rath goes out of sight, a slight grin appears on Lord Zeon's face that dissolves away as quickly as it came. The old man then gets up and walks off, to return his own business, as well.
