Through the streets a child of ten years of age bolted, barefoot and adorned with filthy peasant's rags. It was difficult to tell the child's gender due to their femenine face yet their boyish mannerisms. The child had short black hair and tanned skin, probably from working in the hot sun all day. Two large demons were chasing after the child, which would normally assure the poor kid's death. However, the child was near enough to the docks. They hopped onto one of the ships and hid inside. Unfortunately for Van and Mala, the ship the kid hid inside was the one that they planned on stealing.

"Hey, try to stay positive. I don't like seeing a pretty face with a glum expression." Van said with a smirk, clueless as to the fellow stowaway and demon bait that was now on board with them.

Mala smiled softly at Van, offering a simple "Thanks. I'll try." before the demons stormed onto the dock in front of the ship. The two loomed over Mala and Van easilly, searching about for the child. One swooped in to try and grab Mala, since she was both female and not extremely hideous. When it touched her foot she exclaimed, "OOOOOooooow! Not the foot, you fool! Not the foot!" It was funny how she could react like this first before she would get upset over anything else.

Mikhael nodded, his face not changing. "so, youre that kind of adventurers." he chuckled. "well... i guess, if you want... i could come along..." really, he wasnt a 'helper.' he looked out for himself, and took down anyone in his way. but... if helping would get him some back up, why not?

Unfortunately, both demons lacked genetalia in their netheregions. Might've had something to do with Jaquel not wanting other demons to go in on his territory. The demon still felt slight pain, but ignored it and laughed at the small boy. "Was that suppost to hurt?"

"Well...I didn't realize your boss decided to neuter his lackeys..." Van said taking a nervous step back, not expecting there were actually beings that were for the most part immune to a kick in the nuts. 'Plan B...Plan B...' his eyes searched the area for any other method of dealing with them, but found nothing in reach. 'Well, it's worth a shot...' he thought with a sigh of defeat before suddenly adopting a look of utter horror. "Oh sweet thievery, WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING?!" he cried pointing behind the demons, hoping they had single digit IQs.
((It's hard finding an alternative to 'oh my god' and the like when the character himself is a god...))

Thankfully, the demons weren't known for their intelligence - being the dumbest of Jaquel's lackies. They looked over, but not before saying, "It's probably your mum but..." After looking around a bit one of them asked, "Heeeey, what did you mean by 'that thing'? Allz we see is dumb people."

While the demons were distracted, Van had grabbed Mala's hand and pulled her away. Of course, they would've been spotted trying to make an escape, so he pulled her into a conveniently empty crate to hide out in for now.
((Lemme know if I need to edit. Wasn't sure if the demon had technically captured Mala or not.))

{It's fine, since I could better imagine her slipping away after Van offering that small distraction than her staying in its hands and not screaming about her foot.}
Mala was thankful that Van had pulled her out of danger once again, even if only for the moment. She felt sort of useless because of this, however, so she wasn't able to be as happy about this as she wanted to be.
When they looked back, Mala and Van were gone. "Where'd dey go?!" one of them exclaimed. The other said, "We better not tell boss. He not be happy if he find out pretty girl escape."

Van had picked up a loose plank during their escape as a makeshift weapon if needed and strained himself to hear the demons talking as he looked up at the crate cover overhead. If the demons decided to search every nook and cranny for them, he wanted to be ready to stab them in the face when they were discovered. "If you see the chance to get out of here, take it and find somewhere else to hide until I've cleaned up here." Van whispered to Mala. "These guys seem to be the slow and stupid variety, so I'm sure I can take 'em."

Mala knew she'd be a hindrance, but she'd rather not deal with having to leave Van like this. "Listen, how about instead I'll hold up a barrier around us both? Unlike my healing, my blessings and my barriers are strong enough to be of use." she whispered back.
{Sorry for suddenly dissappearing like that. I went and took a nap. biggrin }
