"Or you could always just let them fight it out," Keegan offered, fully aware of the fact that it wasn't very helpful. "You know, an inner-team rivalry could make things interesting. It would probably keep Kenny and A Turn on their toes. Metaphorically, of course," he added upon realizing that neither the Duskull nor the Porygon2 actually had any. He stuck his hands deep into the pockets of his brown leather jacket, resisting the urge to light up another smoke. Since quitting cold turkey before, he'd forgotten how much of a creature of habit he truly was as he could often go through at least an entire pack per day, if not more. You don't have the money for this, he told himself. So just shut up and make 'em last, alright?

"Game plan?" he asked, chuckling. "Go in, do my damnedest not to get beat and get myself a badge if I can. Nothing special, really." It wasn't far from the truth at all as he'd never really planned any of his gym matches out. They happened as they happened, though he was quite eager to see Helios in action in a match against a gym leader.

Roark really shouldn't have been surprised that he had a challanger in the gym, he really shouldn't. They had even had a battle that hadn't exactly been super quiet to. Still the young gym leader had been admiring a fossil he had dug up earlier in the morning and had been so caught up in it he hadn't noticed. So when Katie shouted her challenge out to him he jumped a little almost knocking his brand new fossil to the floor. Luck was with him however as he caught it in the nick of time. "A challenger huh?" Well he hadn't been challenged in a while truth be told. People seemed to come to his gym in waves and it seemed like his slump was about to end. Adjusting his glasses he walked out from behind one of the large boulders a friendly smile on his face. "You want a gym battle Katie Maguire of Jubilife City?" He teased in a good natured manor. "All right then I can do that, it is my job after all."

Walking over to the other girl he gave her a warm smile as he looked her over carefully. She seemed to be brimming with excitement, it was probably her first gym battle, that was ok Roark was a lot of trainers first gym battle. Then again he hadn't exactly been the gym leader here for the longest time so he still had a lot to learn about being a gym leader. "All right then, how does this sound? A singles match each of us can use up to three pokemon, no items. If you win you get my gym badge, your winning money and a shiny new TM, also you will be able to use the move Rock Smash. Sounds pretty good huh?"

~~~~~~
"It might help the team dynamic. Then again I would probably end up being the one who got hurt in their fights." Dante thought about it though and figured he would just have to come up with something, still he took Keegan's idea's and decided that he might try them out. As for how Keegan was going to go through the gym? Well that was as good as a plan as any he supposed and he told him so. "That's as good as a plan as any really." Heck half the time Dante did the same thing, there were a few times though that he planned what pokemon he wanted to use ahead though, but really other then that he followed the same as Keegan.
"Don't make fun of my Kirlia," Riza shouted, more annoyed that Surge was insulting her Pokemon than her. If he was impressed, Riza couldn't tell by his expression alone, and his comments, while angering her further also made her that much more determined to beat him. She watched the electrified Voltorb closely as it rolled toward Yula, her mind racing. 'It seems that Surge relies on pure power to win battles,' she thought, nodding. 'If he wants to recklessly attack like that, then we'll just have to let him.'
"Yula, dodge it with double team," she said quickly, keeping her tone just loud enough for the Kirlia to hear. 'Pure power does nothing for you if you can't get a hit in!' she thought. Yula nodded, not wanting to get anywhere near the electrified ball of a Pokemon went into a graceful spin on the spot before she suddenly seemed to rush off in all directions. When the clones had all materialized, they all curtsied in unison though the clone that was positioned where Yula once stood was mowed down by the spark attack and vanished completely.
When Roark first spoke Katie was a bit surprised, as she didn't se him anywhere. After a moment or two she saw him appear, and she smiled. Granted, he was younger than she'd expected, as he was perhaps only three or four years older than she was, but she shook the thought away. Not all gym leaders would be old crotchety men now, would they? "That sounds great," she nodded, obviously quite eager to begin. They'd been training a lot the past couple of days, and even though she'd only captured her Roselia this morning she was confident that she could put up a good fight against the rock-type user. The rewards sounded pretty sweet too and they only helped to further fuel her desire to battle and win. She took her place on the challenger's side of the battlefield and waved across to Roark. "Okay, ready when you are," she called.
"Kanto huh? Never been there before. Haven't been anywhere other than Hoenn, so I guess any trip would be a new land for me." He said honestly as he watched her extend her arms a bit amazed. What? No way is it that big, she's gotta be lyin! All doubts aside though Jason found himself being dragged by the arm suddenly and onto the elevator, he was meeting some lively new people and he loved it! Leaving home was all about making friends after all, everyone knew that. "Net Ball huh. yeah that sounds like a good pokeball to use....you don't think it like tosses a net out do you?" He asked with all seriousness as the elevator rose up. "No that's silly. Oooo, I bet the capture beam is like a super cool laser net! Yeah!" Jason rode the elevator with anticipation, not even noticing Kasiya's child like running from display to display as he did the same. As soon as the doors opened he was already grabbing random things off of shelves and putting them in the wrong places as he grabbed the next thing that caught his eye. "I want one of these, no these! No wait, that's this and that plus more! It's unreal!" Before he knew it he was in the corner of the floor where no one was around looking at a bunch of precariously placed bottles and such when Kasiya suddenly called out to him. He turned around placing the bottle he had picked up back awkwardly, accidentally knocking out another one and causing the whole thing to fall over. "Crap!" He looked aroudn as the tower started to fall, no one saw him so he bolted over to where his blond friend was and pretended like nothing happened. " Uhm, that's a Pokeblock case. It's used for storing pokeblock that you make from blending berries, uh coordinators use it." He answered looking around nervously. "They are treats for pokemon kinda, but they also have effects on pokemon. It's weird but something about the berry blends make pokemon appear cooler or more beautiful and stuff. Pokemon love the stuff though, or so I've heard, it's got nothing to do with a bottle display." Suddenly Jason heard a voice coming from across the store that made him jump.
"Hey, who knocked the bottles over!"
"It was the one armed man!" Jason answered almost instantl, taking Kasiya's arm and pulling her to another aisle. "I was with you the whole time. I swear! Um yeah, so they um are used by coordinators all over Hoenn for contests, but you can use them to give your pokemon treats even if you're not a coordinator. So um, pokeballs are over here or something?" He said still looking around. "W-we better hurry or we'll miss the ferry right? No rush. Wasn't me. Really."
Crenu saw Diema fall out of the corner of his eye and Yula come out to deliver an attack, but he wasn't so focused on the battle anymore. "So Surge is her father?" Coincidence, right? But coincidences only went so far. This was string theory being pushed to the max, and the whole thing was maddening! But maybe it was just him, maybe he was paranoid. Still, the concept of the ever crowding circle made the world aroudn Crenu seem smaller and smaller. Almost like it was all a carefully planned out story he was now aware of, real fourth wall breaking stuff. But that was just silly, so he tried to forget about it. But that did mean that Kassie had the blood of a gym leader in her, which might explain that battle prowess she had. Sure it wasn't enough to completely settle the fact that she was good, her own skills had to come in play. Being the offspring of a great trainer didn't make you any better than the offspring of an average nobody, but the experience gained from the environment sure didn't hurt. Having lost to Kassie already, Crenu was more than curious to see how her father battled, maybe there was a similarity. But more importantly, if he battled like her, then he would surely enjoy this match. It was settled, he'd challenge Surge next. Crenu smirked a bit, looking back at Jaeshan. "Oh um, no. Just curious." He looked back at the battle in time to see kirlia split into copies of herself just in time to dodge Voltorb's spark attack. "Very nice. She's doing rather well."
Roark smiled at Katie before heading over to his side of the arena. "All right, good luck I hope this is a fun battle for the both of us." Roark said encouragingly. Pulling out a small pokeball from his grey pants he enlarged it and tossing it up in the air once his friendly demeanor changed to a more serious one. "I hope your ready for this! Let's go Geodude!" Roark grinned as he tossed out his pokeball to reveal the small rock type pokemon.
The Geodude appeared on the field with a determined cry. The Geodude itself seemed a bit smaller then the normal Geodude, there had to be a reason for that though, one that Katie would find out through the course of the battle. The small rock pokemon floated above the ground watching Katie with battle experienced eyes.
Needless to say Kasiya's eyes were wider than Pokeballs as Jason was suddenly by her side, a resounding crash echoing from the aisle she was sure he'd just come from. "What did-" she started, but Jason was already yanking her arm and pulling her away from the PokeBlock Case display. "The one-armed man?" she asked incredulously. "Was there really someone like that over there?" At first one might think she was just joking, but the serious look in her eye showed that she was not. She looked back down at the PokeBlock Case in her hand, thinking about what Jason had said. Though it was a tool for coordinators, the idea of giving treats to her Pokemon sounded cool. Maybe this will come in handy if I do decide to try for contests, she thought.
She looked around as Jason asked about the Pokeballs. "I guess they're not on this floor," she said, shrugging. She looked over her shoulder as people had started to head over to the fallen bottles, presumably to clean them up. "We should keep out of the way," she said obliviously. "But first, I'm going to buy this! I'll meet you on the next floor, okay? We'll go through the Pokeballs and that should give us just enough time to get down before boarding starts." She smiled at him and skipped over towards the counter, already digging her money out of her backpack. I better buy some berries too, she thought, very excited for the chance to try it out.
When Surge saw his Voltorb plow through one of the many fake Kirlia now curtsying before him, the slightest hint of a grin may have appeared at the corners of his mouth. This girl was definitely doing better than he thought she would, though she had a ways to go if she wanted that Thunder Badge. She was feisty too, and he liked that in a challenger, as it always made the battle more interesting. He looked to his Voltorb and smiled. He could always just have it use their trademark Shock Wave to go after the real Kirlia, but that would be too easy. "Rollout," he shouted, deciding to take a more interesting approach. "Take out those copies!" Not only would it be an effective means of covering ground, but Rollout would gain power as Voltorb kept up its momentum.
The Ball Pokemon buzzed loudly to show that it had heard Surge's orders and all at once the electricity covering its body died down, leaving only a red and white blur that sped towards the Kirlia littered about the floor, intending to take them down one by one until the real Yula was found.
=-=-=-=-=
Jaeshan just nodded, deciding to keep his comments to himself, suddenly wondering if he should have told Crenu that Surge was Kassie's father. It really wasn't any of his business, though he didn't think Kasiya would mind all that much. I probably wouldn't tell anyone if my father was a gym leader, not an corporate tycoon, he thought. The pressure and expectations would turn me into an absolute basket case. He glanced over at the Cyndaquil nestled in Crenu's lap and smiled, thinking of when Blaziken was still a tiny Torchic and how much she loved to be hugged and snuggled. He was sure now that Blaziken wouldn't like it so much and he felt a twinge of nostalgia tug at his heart. All the training had paid off, though, and he knew that Blaziken would be a great asset to his team in the future.
"She is doing well, isn't she?" he agreed, nodding as the Voltorb swiftly changed from Spark to Rollout in the blink of an eye. Surge's Pokemon were well-trained, there was no denying that. Maybe someday I'll ask Surge for a rematch, just for fun, he thought. After he'd gotten over his initial shock of the man's sheer size, the battle had actually been fast-paced and exciting; well worth the Thunder Badge he now had in his possession.
'Uh oh, new strategy time,' Riza thought as the Voltorb began to speed through Kirlia's clones. It wouldn't be long before Yula would be hit, and Riza thought hard for a moment. The Voltorb was moving too fast and she didn't think Yula could focus her psychic energy in time to stop it. "Oh, I know! Yula, use your swift attack," she called. Swift was reliable, like shock wave, and would not miss.
Yula nodded, her few remaining copies twirling with her before they disappeared from existence thanks to the Voltorb, and as she waved her hands a trail of glittering golden stars following behind them. "Kirlia!" she called, the stars swirling around her before the psychic-type sent them spinning after the rolling Voltorb.
* * * * *
'I hope I'm ready for this too,' Katie thought, taking a poke ball from her belt as Roark released a Geodude. Katie noticed right away that it was smaller than the one she'd seen a little while ago, and she looked towards the gym leader curiously. Roark had a serious expression on his face, and Katie nodded, knowing that she couldn't underestimate this Geodude just because it was smaller than average. "Okay, let's do our best. Noa, you're up first," she said, throwing the sphere out onto the battlefield. The brown coloured Staravia was released in a shower of sparkles as usual, and she let out a fearful cry as she stared down her opponent. "Just remember our training and we should be fine," Katie told the bird. "Start off with double team!" The Staravia let out another shriek and flew up into the air, her body phasing in and out as it divided itself into a flock of clones.
"Totally, the one armed man just knocked everything over and split. Made it look like I did it too." Jason sighed in his mind, at least she believed him. But then again, the one armed man story got 'em every time. He eyed the pokeblock case she held and nodded. "Yeah, sounds good to me." He said looking around suspiciously. The last thing Jason wanted to do was hang around on this floor, with every passing second he felt like the store cameras and employees were staring at him ready to make him pay for knocking over the display. He tried to look calm and cool, walking to the elevator, eyes darting around for security. He nearly tripped over himself because he wasn't paying attention, but managed to stay upright and waltzed into the elevator. Zeus who was still hanging aroudn by his head just stared at Jason with disapproval. "W-what? Wasn't me....hey I know that look in your eye..Noo-ahhhhh!" The last thing visible as the elevator doors closed was a bright flash as Zeus zapped Jason pretty badly. When the doors would open again on the next floor, Jason would stumble out with a smoking head, ignoring the looks he got as he wandered the aisles careful not to knock anything over again.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
"Rollout. So he's going to continuously charge through every copy until he finds the real one. With Voltorb's speed he should get through to the real one in no time...a fine strategy. But other than amazing speed Voltorb don't have much to offer in terms of physical attack. Surge must have another plan after he finds the real Yula..." Crenu watched both pokemon closely, Voltorb was darting about impressively. He doubted that getting a good hit on it now was possible, but that was yet to be seen. How was Riza goign to handle this new situation?
"Oh my yes, but it that Rollout is allowed to pick up speed and power it can be a powerful strike regardless. But what worries me is the frightening Thunderbolt we saw earlier. Poor Diema was on her last leg so she would have gone down regardless, but I'm sure that was a mighty attack. And I'm sure Surge has more in his arsenal. This is his second pokemon after all, he can't afford to lose this one so easily. This could be a dangerous situation for Yula is those two aren't careful." Ken said in an unusually serious tone. But he soon started to smile again. "This is so exciting!" Ken grinned wider as Riza gave her new command, using Swift on an opponent moving aroudn like that, very wise. "That a girl! He'll have a tough time getting away from that one! Hehehe."
When Katie sent out her Staravia Roark wasn't to surprised, ok he was a bit surprised it wasn't a Starly but that was about it. A lot of young trainers used that pokemon, Roark didn't have anything against it he just wished it was a rock pokemon. When the flying type used Double Team he still stayed calm and after a second of thought he decided to stick with his battle plan. "All right Geodude you know what to do with your Stealth Rock!" The gyms signature move was going to start this battle off for Roark.
The Geodude nodded and almost in a sort of pose he lflexed his rocky arm muscles, his eyes started to glow and suddenly a bunch of the rocks that had been sitting around the the arena started to lift up off the ground. They didn't do much else other then float there though, still now there was a bunch of different sized rocks floating around the arena all at different heights. Proud of his work the Geodude looked around some nodded and floated off into a mess of rocks that was nearby. The Geodude's rocky body blended in perfectly with its surroundings making his own sort of double team.
"You did a good job with your Stealth Rock Geodude." Roark complemented from his side of the field. He knew he had made the right choice picking this Geodude. He thought as he now looked at his improvised asteroid field.
Maxi accepted Portabello’s sad reply and went quiet for a while. His heart went out for the pokemon and their master. Something horrific must have happened to him to bring such anguish. I don’t even know where to begin with him. His suffering surpasses mine… Maxi looked at the boy and kneeled down towards him. Lee walked over to his master and kept quiet. He could see the sadness in his eyes and decided that it wasn’t the time to make any remarks. The young black belt looked to the walls as the Charizard’s tail and Magmar began to glow. He saw pictures of a young girl plastered all over the cavern walls and thought to himself. This girl must be very important to him and now that I think about it…this girl might be a part of the problem. Either that or he just looking for a new interest…
Maxi could hear the growls of the charizard and turned around. The fire pokemon seemed to be staring at the cranky looking machop. The tense air has not left and Maxi had the feeling that the machop was not making anything better. The magmar also began to show his dislike for the fighting pokemon and began to move ever so close. Portabello began to tell Maxi that he should rid them of the machop before they take care of it. By the tone of the breloom’s voice, it sounded like it would be a permanent action and Maxi did not feel like the machop deserved such treatment. “Lee will take care of the machop, there is no need for your involvement.” Maxi bowed at the breloom and turned towards Lee. “Hey little guy, everybody is a little cranky right now and the machop is not helping at all. Don’t you think we need a new member anyway?” Lee made a quizzical look and turned to the machop who was listening in to the conversation and gave the scuffle pokemon a condescending look. Lee frowned and began to stride towards the fighting pokemon… then began to rush.
The machop smiled and leaped into the air as Lee was closing in on his position. Lee looked up and to see a heel coming towards his face and he rolled to the side. The machop stumbled over and started to lose his footing. Lee giggled to himself and threw a punch to the back of the head making the fight pokemon heel over, but only for a second. Machop turned back with a malicious look and threw a low kick to Lee’s legs. Lee fell flat on his face but came in for a foot sweep. Machop dodged only to meet up with a tackle to the face. The fight pokemon flew across to the other side of the cavern and went down silent. Maxi immediately pulled out a pokeball and threw it at the machop. The ball hit the critter on the dome and consumed it. Lee and Maxi went silent with anticipation and for a few moments the ball continued to wiggle until it finally went still. Lee took a seat and began to throw on his mantle while Maxi walked over to the ball and picked it up. He smiled and turned over to Portabello: “The job is done, now let’s get back to your trainer shall we?” Maxi waited for the breloom’s reponse.
Cable was panting heavily at this point. The ineffective Super Effective Thunderpunch, followed up by a Brick Break that he put his all into, and still not a scratch on that Kabutops. Sure, the Paralyzed state his opponent was in gave him an advantage in speed (not that he needed it), and he did have the type advantage as well. But why was this so hard? He was giving everything he had to that scrawny piece of living rubble and still! Nothing was happening! Electabuzz clenched his fists and yelled out into the air, sparks flying off of his body. He grit his teeth together and growled at the Kabutops, shaking visibly with anger. The Pokemon took a step forward and lightning shot up from his foot and spread along the ground. "Cable!" Kilik barked, "Calm down." He had to feel for his Pokemon. After all, Cable had displayed impressive feats of strength for being at such a level disadvantage and, despite having moves to exploit Kabutops' weaknesses, Kilik had no idea what to do now. Maybe I could go with a Special attack. Being a Rock-type provides plenty of defense, but...it's worth a shot. "Okay, here we go! Use Shock Wave, Cable!"
Joe's eyebrows jumped for a moment. It seems that his boy found the key to victory. He smiled behind his mustache and started to laugh. Kabutops looked over his shoulder at his trainer and wondered what was so funny. "Elee....BUUU!" Cable cried out, generating a sphere of lightning above his head. He brought his palm up into the air and grabbed hold of it before tossing it forward. The sphere shattered a few feet later and eight bolts of lightning came streaming towards the Kabutops. The Electabuzz smirked. Kabutops was ready for the attack and then jumped straight up into the air when the electricity was about to strike. Foolish feline. He looked down at the ground and saw that the lightning was still chasing him. What was this!? The attack struck him and it felt like all the energy left his body. The lanky Pokemon fell to the ground with a loud crash, getting up very slowly while using his scythes as something to prop himself up with. Now he was the one shaking with rage. He was tricked! Joeseph laughed again and applauded his son. "Very good, Kilik!"
"You see," he cleared his throat. "Kabutops is blessed with a strong defense, but is lacking in Special Defense. Not all Pokemon can be defeated by physical strength alone."
Kilik's eyes widened. That sounded so familiar. He closed his eyes.
"Kilik! Focus!" a voice snapped, "You are relying too much on your Flareon's physical attributes! Do not think for a moment that an opponent will let up on you just because you cannot discern yourself between physical and special defenses! Take risks!"
"Master Koga, I--"
Kilik opened his eyes and clenched his fists. "Taking risks! That's what battling is all about!" That's what Koga had meant. He'd never learn to grow stronger if he just went with what worked in the past. What was suitable against one opponent wasn't against another. Every Pokemon was different, even within the same species. How could he have ignored that? He used instinct on all his past battles and managed to come out on top when it really mattered. That wasn't the same as knowing what he was doing? Or was it? Battling his father threw all of his feelings off balance. He didn't know what to think anymore. Was he just lucky?
Once her new PokeBlock case was paid for, Kasiya put her change away in her pocket and made her way to the elevator, still holding the case in her hand. There was a sign on the wall that had all the floors to the building labeled and Kasiya scanned it carefully, wondering where she'd be able to buy berries and figure out which floor she should be meeting Jason on. She pressed the up arrow on the panel beside the elevator door and waited, unaware that a someone had come up behind her.
"If you're doing some last-minute shopping before the trip to Sinnoh, you might want to think about picking up some winter clothes," the someone asked, gently tapping Kasiya on the shoulder.
Kasiya jumped a bit, and whirled around, though her look of surprise quickly changed to one of happiness. "Cynthia!" she said, grinning up at the woman. "What are you doing here?" she asked.
Cynthia laughed. "The same thing you are, I'd wager. I'm just picking up a few things before it's time to board the ship," she explained, nodding to the shopping bags she held in her hand. "Oh, and if you're wondering, they don't sell berries here; you'd have to go down to the Farmer's Market for those," she added, eying the PokeBlock Case in the girl's hand.
"Oh," Kasiya sighed as the elevator dinged and the doors slid open. Looks like her adventures in PokeBlock making would have to wait, as she'd not have enough time to run down to the market for berries. However, she cheered up quite quickly and beamed up at the champion. "I'm going to meet my friend up on the next floor," she said quickly, stepping into the elevator. "We're shopping for special Pokeballs to bring to Sinnoh with us. Do you wanna come up and meet him? I bet he'd love to meet you, the Champion of all of Sinnoh!"
Cynthia smiled politely, and nodded. "Of course, I'd love to," she said, following the younger girl onto the elevator and lightly pressing the 'door close' button. "Your friend," she said casually, trying not to smile, "he wouldn't happen to be the one who knocked down all those bottles, now would he?"
"No, of course not," Kasiya replied honestly, as she didn't know any better. But then again, the more she thought about it, the more suspicious she became. "Oh wait," she mumbled, frowning. "You won't tell anyone, will you?"
Cynthia just smiled, and held a finger to her lips. "I won't tell a soul," she replied, and the two trainers rode out the remainder of the elevator ride in silence.
Surge could only watch helplessly as the golden stars sped through the air like shurikens and smashed into the rolling Voltorb one by one, shattering on impact as though they were made of glass. Surge knew that his Voltorb wasn't built on stamina or power and that speed was more or less its one true asset, but he wasn't about to let one measly Swift attack take it down. "Keep at it, Voltorb!" the huge man bellowed. "You know what to do!"
The Ball Pokemon continued to speed towards Yula after eradicating the last of her copies. It buzzed noisily to show that it had heard its master's orders. At the last possible second the Voltorb veered off sharply to the right, spinning rapidly in order to cut back and turn in place so that it was facing its opponent's back. The Electric-type continued to buzz loudly as it charged up and blasted a Thunderbolt at point-blank range from behind. Surge let out a low whistle and wiped the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand. It had taken a lot of practice for Voltorb to perfect that maneuver, and this was the first time he'd attempted it in battle.
=-=-=-=-=
Jaeshan nodded along to Crenu's commentary. He was trying to remember if Surge's Voltorb had moved like that when he'd battled against it, but he couldn't be sure. About the only thing he could remember was the Ball Pokemon using Explosion to take Weepinbell down with him. "I'm sure Yula can handle it," he said, nodding as he watched the elegant Kirlia on the battlefield. He'd never seen a Kirlia use Swift before and it intrigued him, but he was glad that Riza had a reliable move to fall back on. "I think Kirlia also can use Magical Leaf, which like Swift, doesn't miss," he commented idly, more to himself than to his spectating companions. Seeing Riza's gym battle also had him feeling quite eager to get to Celadon City so that he could challenge Erika. Though Blaziken would be a good choice to use in the battle he knew the Grass-type using gym leader would have strategies to combat her weaknesses.
Jason, hair frizzled again, was already emulating his childish behavior on the previous floor by running about looking at every random thing that came into his line of sight. But he was wary this time. He made note of the displays and made sure to avoid anything stacked higher than two feet. "It's like they were asking for it to happen honestly. Not my fault I'm about as graceful as a Tausos on a china shop. Now what did I come in here for again?" Jason stopped to think, scratching his head quizzically trying to remember what he was up to exactly, snapping his fingers and grinning as he ran up to the counter to ask. "Ah ha ha, I remember!" Of course the clerk looked at Jason like he was crazy, not having the slightest clue what the heck the kid was talking about. "Good afternoon my good man. I would like to inquire about your selection of specialty pokeballs if you don't mind. Something to help with say...a pokemon fished from the seas? What would you suggest?" Jason was suddenly leaning on the counter, looking as professional as the spazzy kid possibly could.
"....um...ok?" The clerk was still a little unsure about this guy, but is he was a customer than it didn't really matter how weird he was. "Yes well, we've got a good selection of pokeballs here for all purposes. But if you want something for water pokemon then you're probably looking for a net ball or a dive ball. Dive Balls are great for pokemon along the ocean floor, real deep see pokemon like Clamperl and such. Net Balls are good for water pokemon in general, the kind your more likely to find with a rod or by surfing along the waves. They're also good on bug pokemon. So, which are you looking for kid?" The clerk disappeared behind the counter for a second, returning with one of each and holding his hands out for the kid to get a better look before deciding.
"Eh? Net Ball, Dive Ball?" Jason looked at the Pokeballs carefully, not sure which one was really best for him. One was blue and white in color and had black bands crossing over on the top half, this must have been the Net Ball. The other was a lighter blue Pokeball with some white marking on it, which by process of elimination had to be the Dive Ball. This was all assuming that Jason was correct in his first assumption, and he was pretty sure he was. "Hmm, well I'm gonna be fishing on the boat and port maybe, don't really think I'll be doing any kind of diving. Plus I only got a good rod, can't get pokemon that far down anyway. So I guess I'll take this one? Maybe I should wait for Kasiya. Oh but who knows how long she'll take? Buuuuut she was just going to pay then come find me. Hmm. Ok ok, I'll take this one." Jason said with a grin as he placed his hand on the Net Ball and grabbed it, but did nothing else. He just stood there, with his arm extended and the Net Ball in his grip, the clerk trying to pull it away from Jason's rather strong grip and asking him if he was alright. But Jason just stood there with his head hanging down. "....ZZZzzzzz"
Eraku looked on as the girl he had just met flipped out and ran off towards the Pokemon center and began speaking frantically in another language to this guy who looked like a deer in the head lights from the way this girl was just approaching him.
"what is her issue?" he wondered as he watched the trainer release a pidgeot. Then he saw the girl look over to him and point and again talk to the guy and he then released what could have been mistaken for a pile of bones but it was a Golbat or at least Eraku thought it was a Golbat though the thing looked as though it had seen better days. The girl motioned for him to come over and so Eraku walked over to the two where he found out that he would be flying on this Golbat. Now Eraku loves flying and flying Pokemon but even he was skeptical about getting on to this...this...thing.... As the other two climbed onto the majestic looking pidgeot Eraku looked down at the pathetic looking Golbat and thought "Oh dear lord what have I gotten my self into."
'Oh man, maybe I should have sent out Akima to go up against Voltorb's amazing speed,' Riza thought as she watched the Voltorb race around the field, now heading for Yula once more. The Kirlia braced herself, fully expecting to be bowled over by the rollout attack but when the ball zipped past her she let out a confused gasp, only to feel the jolt of a powerful thunderbolt hit her a moment later. "Hang in there Yula!" Riza called, impressed with the move. Surge had definitely earned his position as gym leader, that's for sure. "Quickly, Yula! Turn around and blast that ball away with confusion!" she shouted.
Electricity was still crackling over the Kirlia's body as she pivoted around on one foot, her normally crimson eyes glowing with a greenish aura as she slashed her arm through the air, creating a blast of psychic energy which was sent towards the Voltorb.
Katie, Noa and Noa's many copies all watched with curious eyes as the rocks lifted up off the ground, making for a tricky looking battlefield. Katie had heard of stealth rock but had never seen it used before and she had to admit that she was impressed with Roark's strategy. "Okay," she said, clenching her fist and looking up at the now flock of birds that were soaring high above her head. "We'll stick to our own strategy," she said. After seeing Noa smashing the rocks to pieces earlier she didn't think this would be too much of a problem. "Noa, get in there and use your steel wing attack!"
The many Staravia all shrieked in unison before diving down towards the rockey asteroid field below, and even Katie didn't know which of the Staravia was the real one as their wings all began to glow with a steely hue. Noa knew exactly where she was, however, but the Geodude was another story. It's rocky form was hidden well among the mass of rocks but she kept her eyes sharp as she used her many clones as a diversion. There, she thought she saw one of the rocks blink! The Staravia sped forward, spreading her steely wings wide as she prepared to strike what she hoped was the geodude. If not then she'd just destroyed a one of the stealth rocks!
