I'm not sure, however your starter pokemon no matter what level will always listen to you.

Hoshioni hmmm whats the max loyalty level 4 a pokemon before a badge??? Regardless of the level, your starter will always obey you. any other pokemon, it will usually stop listening to you around level 15 or so...

Regardless of the level, your starter will always obey you. any other pokemon, it will usually stop listening to you around level 15 or so... HMMMMMMM...........hmmmmmmmmmmmmm evil evil idea,..... alrighty i wanna trade over my starter to my gold to level it up useing my beat the eliete four repeat tatic........XD then take the level 100 starter and play the game otherwise as normal

I always save right in front of the counter so I don't get boxes full of failures. lol
If they hatch a nature that sucks I turn off the ds and try again.
