Wooo~ So I finally came up with my Holiday Item idea. xd

"Top of the Tree" rofl
I really think that if I get into the finals that I'll have a big chance at winning. Tee hee biggrin
My biggest worry is that it won't pass the admins' pervy-item-filter, even though I just want to be able to steal some of the attention away from that damn Xmas Angel D:< Well, I have that worry, and that I've been looking at all the other entries and some of the anime ones are very popular -_-;
I submitted another entry but it's nowhere near this one's awesomeness.

lol Nice. Though it does look kind of like a painful treeshot to the groin. Ouch!

I'm still thinking on an entree. I might actually try this time.

So, I had my first anatomy lab today. First we played with some bones - femur, humerus, ulna, radius, tibia, fibula, etc. It was pretty cool. Then we got around to the body parts!! We got to see several hearts, and a cross-sectioned leg. It's really fascinating to see bits of the layers of the body taken out, from the epidermis to bone marrow. They kept the skin on most of the foot of the detached leg, so it looked really interesting, leg hairs and all. And not to mention all the cross-sections of brains, and this poor guy named Shawn who gave his body to science and now half of his head is pickled with parts carved away for us to see all the cavities in the head and stuff. Several of the girls didn't react well to the cadaver lab, with all the bodies wrapped in plastic all around us, and a handful of people got headaches from the faint chemical smell. I didn't get to play with a cadaver tonight cause I was super tired, I haven't been sleeping well, but I did get to play with some brains, a really cool set of bones, and I really touched a big nerve tonight. It felt weird, in a cool way. They also had photos all over of cadavers with the skin removed so you could see the muscles and everything. Though they did remove the genitals... xd

Now, if I've permanently grossed people out, then my job here is finished. But I can always talk more about playing with the bodies. I now know why some people like instruments made of bone...

takes more then that to gross me out xd I personally find the human anatomy to be very fascinating. However...I am now sad that i applied to be an organ doner...if that's where my organs will be going.
While I love animal anatomy as well, I don't think I could actually tear one apart, because it would make me sad.

The one thing you could do to really gross me out....put a bug...somewhere, anywhere it doesn't matter. I hate bugs gonk

I believe that if you donate your organs they'll use them for transplants and such. I think only if you state in your will to give your body to science, or if the remaining family members decide to will they actually give you to a school or some other corp. I got to see a heart of an obese person, and one that had bypass surgery. Oh, and they showed us a couple examples of replacement joints, like the knee and hip. And an old heart valve replacement - dude it was like all metal!

Next stop. The Man with the Heart of cold steel. Bwahahahaha!!

The description was not at all gross. But Mabey if I was there, Mabey I might get a little disgusted.

Describing gore is fine with me. Even watching it on TV is fine with me most of the time. What I can't stand at ALL is seeing it right in front of me. gonk I faint or some other girly cop-out.

The old style of heart valve replacements were all metal, so you couldn't use a metal detector, etc. It looked so bulky meshed with the heart tissues, I wondered that the person didn't feel all weird. It was like one of those children toys, where the metal ball is inside this tube of 4 thin metal wires, where it can roll from one end to the other, but can't escape. It came to a rounded end, and when the blood pumps it pushes the ball out of the way, but then the ball falls to make a seal so the blood can't go backwards. It looked like an extremely uncomfortable thing to have in the body. And the joint replacements were mostly metal, though some were combined with plastic. And you know the saying "I fell and broke my hip"? It's inaccurate. Old people and those with weak bones will break the neck of the femur, and then they fall. When people speak of breaking their hip, they really mean the neck of the femur bone. It's when they use the term 'pelvis' that they actually break the bone, called the os coxa. We had fun handling some os coxa and orienting them. Did you know that bones have a unique feel to them? It's not just the smoothness, or the surprising lightness, but when you stroke the bone, it has something on the surface that almost feels like oil or some other secretion. Not all bones feel that way, but the ones that have had better care, and also those that haven't had blood clot and congeal in them feel that way. It's fascinating, and I like the sound they make when I tap my nail against the surface. Now I know why indigenous tribes use bones for decorations. It's a nice sound, reminds me a lot of bamboo. 4laugh Oh, I forgot: when they were showing us the bones, they had a couple of fetal skulls so we could see the process of the skull bones fusing together, and the 'soft spot' that's in babies' heads.
