Nicholai Maxwell You know you're a band geek when... 1. You blow an entire paycheck on reeds or valve oil. 2. You chose to buy a new instrument rather than getting a car. hm that would be a tough decision!

Sakeyum You know you're a band geek: When your instructor let's you drive his or her vehicle to run band errands. When watching television your hands start playing paradiddles without thinking. When you wake up in the middle of the night startled, because you were hearing the drum cadence perfectly in your dream. When you are the last one out to an athletic (football, track, basketball) practice because you were playing your instrument in the band room instead of changing for practice. When you feel the need to explain athletic means sports and not marching band. When as a senior you cry during your last performance. When the idea of the John Phillips Sousa band award actually means the world to you. When you can understand that band trips are so much more than any other field trip. When you feel so comfortable around each other the band director gets complaints about "half naked people on band buses" (you gotta change into uniform right?). When you'd rather spend every study hall talking with your band director about next years music for contest, who will be playing what, and are trusted to make the decisions. When pep band is the best part of the year. When you come back to play pep band after you graduate. When you can understand the rivalry between Trumpets and Percussion as the leading section (and realize it IS the percussion). When band members from other schools become better friends than those you've known since grade school. Dude! We have a JPS award at our school too! And yeah, it's drumline. I used to play trumpet, but I'm switching to drumline for this marching season and plan to audition for percussion junior year in concert band. (Too many course requirements to take band all four years crying ).

Zelda3391 You know when you're a band geek when: You subliminaly conduct to music. You don't pay attention to the actual music, you try to figure out the time signature, what instruments are in it and how you could arrange it for the band. Guilty. You know you're a band geek when... -You conduct the music you're listening to... and you're not even a DM. (Guilty) -You play syncopated drum parts to almost every piece of music you listen to. (Guilty) -You subconsciously "play the desk" every moment you get a chance. (Super Guilty)

You know your a band nerd when...
You tongue non stop when thinking of a song you've played (for all us woodwind/brass players)
You instantly tongue when you see music notes (again for all us woodwind/brass players)
You attack people with your instrument if they say, 'site reading is when you go to a site a read'
When someone asks you if you can read you say, "Of course I can site read!!"
You go crazy and you start to high light your music (i was so bored once i began to even high light the staacato dots! My private teacher joked around after he wrote a sharp somewhere and said, "bet you'll high light that" )
You've swallowed your mouth piece...aren't they tastey? (or your swallowed your reed)
You actually think your instrument wants to kill you (it wanted to....really... cry )
You talk to your instrument (me: Chihirrooo I know you can do it! Don't squeak!!)
Your friend actually calls you by your instrument's name and you respond to it
thats all i can think of right now =3 sweatdrop
