Amylin Honestly... when I first played the game; I used to hate Tifa. Why? Well, even Tifa admits that she never noticed Cloud when they were kids. No matter what he did, she never noticed. Even after the bridge collapsed when they were kids, where all the other kids abandoned her, and Cloud tried to save her.... she never noticed him (Side note: I do acknowledge now that this is because she did not remember what exactly happened.) Cloud states that because after this since Tifa continued to ignore him he believed that Tifa blamed him for the accident as her father did. Angered by his own weakness to prevent the accident, Cloud gets into fights all over town. Meaning hince... Tifa was indirectly the cause of his childhood problems. Tifa only began to notice Cloud at the well in my opinion because now nobody else was... Tifa: All the boys are leaving... Tifa was a very popular person.... but suddenly everyone leaves. Yet... there's one person that still wants to see her. Amazing how she finally notices him after everyone else leaves, ne? Tifa, in my opinion, practically pushes this promise onto him. Which is the only reason I believe she checked the newspapers for him. ....Because Cloud would have to be a famous hero like Sephiroth. Fast-foward now.... pre-game present time. Now... as far as Tifa knows everything she once knew is now dead and gone forever. Yet.... out of no where she stumbles across Cloud... and need mind you... does not recognise him. I honestly think Tifa's feelings for Cloud spurred from a need to cling to what past she could. I do honestly believe if someone else had survived (anybody... it wouldn't have had to have been someone to start a romantic relationship with) she wouldn't have had such deep of feelings for him as she does in the game now. She would have still cared for him... but since there was something else for her to cling to the feelings wouldn't have gotten so deep. In the long short of it... I think that Tifa only likes Cloud because she believes he's all she has left. Now... after a few more times of playing the game Tifa became my third favorite character... but these opinions on the Cloud/Tifa relationship still stand. The base of their relationship would be that of settlement (not exploring all opportunities or taking chances to find what they really need and want) which is unhealthy and they really could not support each other where needed (see my rant on the Zack/Tifa pairing in the "Who's your favorite coupling?' thread) In the end.... Unless one of them made some big changes and grew an emotional spine (sorry but neither do have one... sorry) the Cloud/Tifa relationship would be doomed to a lot of hardships and heart break. omg. i love you! this is yet another great exposition in this thread on the dynamics of the relationship between cloud/tifa where a lot of people want to fairytale'ize their relationship. I mean.. there are diamonds in the world.. and there are cubiz zirconias.. the latter can sometimes pass for just a spitting image of the original.. but it will still never be the real...

MasterDamios Tch....you know he was hittin all 3 of them, because cloud is a PIMP!!! Dude, you crazy, lol, I doubt Cloud had anything to do with Yuffie, (cause she's annoying as hell) But no doubt he was definately hookin up with Aerith and Tifa.

ChibiMisfit As for what is said in Advent Children, No he does not say he perfers tifa in anyway, infact he's still hung over aeris up until th end when Aeris finally gets him to let go of her and move on. I dont know what it says in the english version but thats how it goes in the Japanese version, thats the one i'll go by. You must've missed the look she gave him at the end. >.>

Twindream Spoiler: I must also mention that Aeris let Cloud go. "I'm a little jealous, but take care of him." In "Case of Tifa", it shows Cloud and Tifa's relationship blossom. (These books are before FFVII: AC) They both live together and try to start a family with Marlene and Denzel, but once he was reminded of Aeris' death, he became guilty. Soon, he found out he had Geostigma and left. In the movie, Cloud asked for Aeris' forgiveness. hmmm... yeah. but then.. I mean. Why would he be guilty and want to apologize to aeris after that? I think he did have some feelings for Aeris that went beyond her death... I think maybe he tried to move on with Tifa in an effort hoping that would help him move past his grief.. but it didn't.. I think the things in AC helped him move past it. I would think post AC; him and Tifa stand more of a chance. Cuz, you know that is a really messed up thing for people who are happy tifa got him after aeris died. I mean. If you look at it like "he really loved aeris, but since she died.. he had tifa there." That is such a messed up thing.. especially for Tifa if you guys are so fans of her. I mean.. Would any of you want to be someone's second choice who only wants to bond with you .... because if the person they really wanted hadn't passed on.. they'd not give you time of day. you're only have a shot because the person they really wanted they can't have anymore... [sorry for my run ons there.. i almost never do that.. but i was having a hard time putting it together. it sounded better when i was discussing it outloud. ]

dylan01roxursox it was obviously tifa because if he really was in love with aeris this she wouldnt have got killed(my favorite scene in the game) That's actually NOT true. Because Aeris ran off ahead of them.. they went as fast as they could to follow her, but she was on a track knowing exactly what she wanted to do... there was no way for Cloud to know that Sephiroth was there waiting for her like that. I personally feel to some degree it was probably a partial set up from the beginning to get it all to happen like that... because he both accomplished his goal with aeris.. and by aeris's death tortured Cloud which is all he ever wants to do.

groundry um ya right have you guys even seen the movie in it he so tottlay said the one i loved is now in the life stream but is stil with me in my heart and mind and her name is aerith but you might not wanna see that cuz i spoiled something maybe but i love the movie im glad i can understand japanese does it actually say that in the japanese version? i have the american one with the voice overs done by american actors.. not even subtitles... if i turn on subtitles.. would it read like that or would it only read like that if i had english subtitles on the japanese version?

Naruto_4ever He never loved or liked anyone, the only reason they made a sort of love connection between Cloud and Aerith/Tifa was for the date at the Gold Saucer and so it would be more dramatic when Aerith died. But, he did like Aerith more, because he has more,'love points' with her in the begining becuz he's supposed to be wit her at gold saucer actually.. if you ever look at that fancy concept art stuff that is made for every final fantasy.. there were a few. one of aeris and sephiroth.. and one of aeris with cloud adn a chocobo there.... and, it was like that for 8, but with squall and rinoa.. so, while the game was programmed to allow the fan to have a choice over Cloud's destiny... ultimately, it was predetermined that the real story's couple was those two. but, people keep thinking abuot cloud and aeris in such conventional terms.. which is really just not right. They were extremely unconventional people.. so, why is it so hard to think their relationship would be unconventional as would his love for her even when her body died.. and don't say she totally died.. because after her body died.. she pretty much became one with the planet... becoming a major persona for the lifestream itself... loving her after she was gone wasn't in vain. The only problem in it is that she wouldn't be able to physically comfort him.

tifa loved cloud, but cloud i believe did love her, but in a brother/sister relationship....kind of family.....i think he loved aeris though.
anyway i heart rinoa, tifa & aeris razz

He loved Aeris alot, and he has trouble still getting over the fact she's dead. Tifa is more like a sister to him.
