"Huh? OH! Heh, yeah. There were a couple of victims brought in from a village up north... said they'd heard about this place and that we could help. The healers will take care of them though..."

Frost had flushed slightly, suddenly self conscious of his sullied uniform in front of a lady. Absentmindedly he picked at flecks of drying blood on his hands and wiped crimson stained tendrils of white from his face.

"That was a neat trick you were uh..."
he gestured with his hands trying to imitate the shadowy wisps he'd just seen. "doing?"

Smiling sort of lopsided and still a little flushed he hoped the sight of blood hadn't upset her.

She would frown, her lips being the only thing visible of her face now. "Oh that... that was nothing... But look, you're all bloodied up." She would sigh and a bright light would glow from within the mouth of her hood. The light would be a soft green and would be bright enough to reveal its source, a small, brown and green marble entwined in her hair, as well as the deep crimson eyes in her soft, fair face. Just as suddenly as the light had shown, it would be gone again as Rose raised one hand.

A tingle would slowly flow across Frost's flesh as the rusty-red coloration soaked into his clothes was lifted and dispersed in the air. The feeling of the hardened liquid could still be felt, but the smell and color would be gone. "Sorry I couldn't do more, but the least I could do was remove the iron so it wouldn't be so noticable...." She would sigh, acting as if this act she had preformed was nothing more than a common-day action.

"But it really was nothing... what you saw..." She would bite her lip. She wasn't so sure if she wanted people knowing her ties to the shadows so openly, less she upset someone against those who use them in malevolence. She knew there were bound to be those who feared the shadows and she couldn't bare to be feared again... Especially not by her new friend.

Poor Frost, who had never seen that type of magick before, had a total tourist reaction... which was to say, he conducted himself with little to no dignity, like a kid who'd just seen their first disappearing act.

"Huh?! WHAT?! HOW? WHERE"D IT GO?! HEY THAT WAS SO COOL!! HOW'D YOU DO THAT?!!"

He was turning sleeves inside out, taking off his jacket and looking in and out of it, peering down his shirt collar in wonderment, before he realised just how silly he must look to her, especially when she had performed such a task so effortlessly.

"Ahem."

He cleared his throat and tried to regain some of his composure...
"I uh, thank you m'lady."

Her embarassment had been boundless. She couldn't believe that she had so carelessly flaunted her powers and shocked her new friend. Maybe he thought she was a freak of some sort... the pessimism flooded her mind.

Just as he was to look up from his shirt, he would catch a glimpse of a huge pair of black-feathered wings spread wide about her as she exploded up into the sky. She had no idea what she was doing, running away from him in the middle of a conversation, but she needed to cool down, less her face explode with all the increased blood flow.

Rose would close her fist and, moments later, she would dissapear within the shadow that her closed palm had cast within itself. She had a lot of practice with shadows and was now able to squeeze into openings in the shadows far smaller than herself. After she had a moment to think, she would return from the darkness, into the room that had been assigned her... She knew not what to do besides weep for her own idiocies.

He felt them, he felt her disappear into her shadows, he felt her jump into the air... he was watching. Regnier stood up slowly, brushing any dirt that he had accumulated from sitting upon the soft grass and dirt, attempting to make his appearance tip-top. He turned to face the direction Rose had just taken flight from, and saw Frost who had previously been shocked and surprised by Rose's actions with her little marbles. He fiddled with one of the green rings on his right hand, and in it's clasp was a marble that looked very similar to Rose's except it was a brilliant shade of green like a summer meadow in the warm afternoon light.

Regnier slowly walked over to where Frost was standing, looking at him, and then to where Rose had just flown off to before disappearing. He seemed to be frowning slightly, feeling a little sorry for Rose, she always had the worst times with other people seeing her powers. Still looking at where Rose previously was, he spoke softly, his voice carrying just far enough for Frost to hear him perfectly, each syllable with the proper enunciation and emphasis.
"It's not you, it's just her. She is not comfortable in positions where she amazes people. Oh the humility, I only wish I had as much as she does... Oh, pardon, I'm Regnier, Regnier Dehrvand. It's a pleasure to meet you." He had turned to face Frost upon the word "Oh" leaving his mouth. He was smiling warmly to show that he had no ill intent towards Frost, trying to be as friendly as possible.

Frost stood blinking incredulously after Rose. She had very quickly gone vertical and then vanished, leaving the poor guard dumbfounded as to what he had done wrong. Was it something he had said? Obviously! It had to be! Lady bright why was he such a klutz around women?!!

A new voice startled him out of his thoughts and he turned to smile at another new comer, one who seemed overtly sure of himself and apparently knew Rose.

"She's not comfort-- Oh. I see..."

It had started out as a question and then realization struck. 'So it WAS something I did... great.' He thought to himself harshly. He'd have to apologize to her later.

"Regnier Dehrvand..."

Frost tested the name on his tongue, reaching out to clasp hands and shake in greeting.

"Your name was on the list of new members posted earlier today, I guess in that case, Welcome is in order."

He would bow slightly from the waist and continue politely, his composure regained.

"I am Fire-Frost, of the K'Vala Tayledras people, Guardsman at the Dark Sakura. Welcome friend to this place of learning and sanctuary."

Besides the guard uniform, hints of delicate silver chain about his neck and entwined in his long platinum hair were visible Woven into his hair was also several tiny silver bells that only seemed to make sound when he wanted them to, and when he did, he knew just how to move his head to make them chime in a most beauteous manner. Fastened to the bottom of his braid were a few of Featherwind's feathers, and a few ornate pieces of polished crystal.

He may have exchanged the robes of his clan for that of a Dark Sakura guard, but everything else from the bondbird, to his platinum hair and it's ornamentation was a dead give away to his race.

Rose would sigh after a long moment alone. She had realized after a while that her reaction to his responses were worse than her own actions.
"I can't believe I just ran off... I just left him there... He must be mad at me now..." Rose would slowly stand and approach the window of her new dorm room. Her long, elegnat fingers would prod their ways into the fabric of the curtains and would pull them aside slightly so as to allow her a good view of the lands outside. She could see Frost still standing them. It made her stomach feel tight... She was about to return and apologize until she saw her good friend Regnier conversing with Frost. Maybe she should wait... She didn't want to impose further.

The man somewhat reluctantly went on the strecher, like most men he was convinced he could still walk. Or at least that's what it appeared like, he always could be a rather convincing actor. At least breathing was a bit easier. Nevertheless, with a pained twist of his neck he turned to look at the white robed woman and listened carefuly to her words.

"She's fine... Completly normal, me..." Lying down didn't stop him from rubbing his face down with both hands, "My magical practice could make... The whole process dificult... Nulifications mostly... But, I can try and spread and convert the energy... I'm fine mostly anyway."

Despite saying so he would still wince everytime the fabric even brushed his wound. That being said he should have been bawling with even that little bit of touch, his pain supression was inhuman.

He smiled as they shook hands, letting it fall back to his side after they were finished. "Yes, sometimes I upset her too, and I've known her for quite some time. It will happen occasionally, there are some subjects with her that trigger memories for her, bad memories.

Fire-Frost? May I shorten that to Fire or Frost if you do not mind?"
In the light of the moon, the man's features were quite easy to see. He had straight, white hair that fell to just below his ears, wore a pair of ornate glasses, and behind the glasses were a pair of beautiful blue eyes that looked much like miniature oceans. One could lose them self within his eyes, and though they would be lost, they would be happy, for it was a wonderful place to be. He was dressed in a tight black pant that hugged his legs, giving them definition but not being too tight for the proper comfort. A simple white button-up shirt was on his torso, and underneath was an armless, black undershirt that was slightly visible due to his button-up shirt not being "buttoned-up" all the way. The cuffs were rolled up slightly on both sides, and on his right wrist was an expensive looking gold watch with many hands on it, none of them seeming to operate at the proper speed of a "normal" watch. Even though all Keatons have ears and a tail, Regnier gave them up long ago to continues his pursuit in magic, and this has allowed him to come far, but has made him an oddity among his people.

"Of course."

Frost said as he let his hand fall back to his side with a strange, casual grace. The kind of subtle grace that suggested it was unnatural for him to ever do anything ungraceful or clumsy. That was... unless he was around a pretty girl. Then he was all thumbs, had two left feet and was tongue-tied t'boot.

"You may simply call me Frost. As for the lady Rose, there are many with such afflictions of memory here. She will find understanding amongst her peers."

.............

"If you're fine young man, then I'm the Bright Lady and I rather think I'm not. "

The other white robed healer, having heard the woman was fine to be practiced on, didn't waste another second on her new charge who was in a most critical condition.

A healer dressed in dark green took his place across from the woman in white. Since she was clear to be healed by magick, the Barer Caelaes would support the Shori Tandraer. In the case of the man however, it seemed it would be the reverse.

The healer in dark green opened a container and started gently smearing something along the deep gash. The touch would be extremely painful but only for a brief moment as the herbal concoction started working right away. With herbs of sterilization and numbing, and powders to speed up coagulation... It would act as an antiseptic, a freezing and a temporary scab so that he would not lose anymore blood. The lady in green would do the same for any other serious cuts, while the lady in white continued to talk with the patient. It was imperative to their work to know what they were dealing with in the way of complications.

"May I ask what your practices are sir?"

The guardsman known as Ollyn, stayed off to the side as the healers began to move the stretchers down the path and towards the Healing Centre. The healers in pale green, carrying the injured woman were even singing! Not just any song though, they were singing the Taelydia os Paes... which translates to 'Melody of Dreams'. While Dark green robes meant natural and traditional practices of medicine such as the study of herbs or in a few exceptional cases, science... white robes indicated a white mage who dealt with white or rather light and holy magicks. The pale green robes, were a mark of a Aestyrolar Caelaes or 'Emotional Healers'. These were the empaths. The Dark Sakura empaths were known for their unique song training, invoking the healing powers through music. A traditional technique Sierra had shared with them from her elven ancestry who had many magickal lullabies they used for many purposes.

It didn't take long for Rose to become a bit restless. She wasn't one to be cooped up in a room for too long. It didn't take any longer than half an hour for her to be out and about on the grounds once more. She would lift the hood of her robe back up over head head and sigh.

"It is so beautiful out here..." She would glance about as she took in the sights. She still felt bad for just abandoning poor Frost earlier and was trying to get it out of her mind, even if just for the moment. She could still hear Frost and Regnier conversing not too far off in the distance. She guessed that they were a little over one hundred feet away but she decided not to interupt since she had waisted her chance for the moment.

"You could say... HURK!" He gritted his teeth at the sudden blast of pain but strangely his eyes didn't bulge beyond their normal squint, "... That that was a surprise."

The injured man looked at the slosh being spread on him and his face contorted slightly. As much as he had warned against it, he would have preferred if they just blasted him with powerful magic, he was used to that. He could have dealt with that. He was no expert on goop and that made him nervous. He gave a little shudder and then continued on as the numbing was making it a good deal easier to speak.

"You could say that most people construct spells, take elemental energy or beseech sprits or whatever, and then create something. I do more of the opposite..." The was a small hint of pride behind the numbed pain, "I specialise in nullifying and deconstructive magics, undo other people's hard work and turn it into basic arcane energy."

He left out the 'which I can then use'.

Once the magical healing began the healers would only have their visual clues confirmed. The girl was almost dead, and it would take a good deal of magicing to even give her a slim chance... Which led to the first complication, somewhere insider of here there was an anomaly, one that was acting as a magic sink.

Regnier nodded understandingly at Frost's statement regarding and noted Frost's composure, how he was holding himself. Though Frost seemed quite casual, Regnier did not change his own state of self in the slightest. He still seemed to carry himself as if he was who he was... a man with much wisdom for his time spent. "Well, I'm sure that will please her. Rose is always looking for serene places with understanding people... there's just something about the peace that completes her, makes her feel safe and welcome."

He then looked back to where Rose had flown into the sky, noticing her moving again, and it made him smile, knowing that she was feeling happy enough to be out and about again, though in many cases, that wasn't enough to be considered happy by most.
PostPosted: Thu Sep 13, 2007 7:14 pm

Frost smiled softly. He was happy for Rose, that she could find solace and comfort within the bounds of the Dark Sakura. Perhaps, with time her spirit would begin to mend and the burdens on her heart would be lightened if not lifted.

But this was no time for small talk and pleasantries, although FireFrost relished the companionship, he WAS still on duty and he had urgent tidings that could not be put off. He must bear this news to those who needs hear it, at once.

Bowing slightly, a note of apology in his voice he spoke somewhat more brusquely than he'd of liked. But he got the impression that Regnier was one of those people who could chat the whole day away if he had a willing conversation partner. Perhaps another time... but right now...

"I'm terribly sorry my friend, but I must make haste to report this events this night has witnessed. I'm sure we will speak again soon, until then, Wind to thy wings."

He would bow again, very slightly. Just a courtesy, not a gesture of deference. And quickly he sped off at an easy jog towards GUARDIAN'S Bureau of Intelligence.

Rose sat quietly, watching Frost depart from afar. Once her new 'friend' was out of sight, her eyes would expand, returning to focus on the land in its' entirety. Rose had always been a very insightful person and was currently placing every detail that she could fathom into mental inventory. Her eyes would encompas the entire landscape until there was nothing left to see in her immediate area. After a long moment, her eyes would close as a sigh escaped through her lips.

Rose would stand once more, securing her hood over her face before beginning her walk once more. She found something here that she found in abundance in Euphoria- a horrible sense of loneliness blanketed her just as it had most of the time in her old homes... It seemed that regardless of where she fled, it would always fall along these lines...

She would fold her wings slighly about her shoulders to keep the shiver away as a breeze blew over her. She enjoyed the cold, but not the emptiness this one brought her. Her shadows would swirl slowly about feet as she moved.
