Even with her went pig tails soaked, and dress and shorts soaked she still looked every part the adorable child she was. The green eyed child blinked with awe and wonder as he addressed her directly. "Ashley!" she proudly stated lifting her head up. The child beamed when Nik said she had all the looks in the family, and especially when he lowered himself to be eye level with her. Unlike her brother she'd stare into some ones eyes and face all day even if it was rude. Alec of course scowled, half joking of course. "Hey! I'm not that bad looking." He laughed suddenly, all the worry and tension from the maelstrom around them forgotten for a moment. "Do you have any siblings Nik?" he questioned the other tilting his head a bit.The blue eye'd teen shook his head giving the girl in his arms a little squeeze. "Yea. She has her moments." He agreed with a small chuckle. His winking wasn't lost on him, to which he only rolled his eyes at the other kidding no one as he was smiling himself now. It was short lived of course, as he looked on at the destruction the large float had caused. At least no one had been seriously maimed or injured..still the madness was troubling. He wanted to leave...he'd been about too before the s**t storm had hit. "A nice lady fished me out of the water, but I'm okay now!" She bobbed her head quickly, assuring anyone within ear shot if they cared to listen.

Despite the soreness he felt in multiple places, seeing Alec and his little sister seemed to ease the discomfort a little. He chuckled when the small girl boldly announced her name and he performed a slight, stiff bow in response. “It is a pleasure to meet you Ms. Ashley.” His adrenalin rush was slowly wearing off so the pain in his head was becoming more demanding along with the cuts in his palms created by the rope he had so fruitlessly struggled with. “Pardon me my dear.” He directed toward Ashley before finding a barrel to seat himself on. Placing his middle and index finger on his temple he attempted to work through the pain briefly before quietly laughing at Alec’s response.
“I guess not, THAT, bad.” He quipped in return. The world around them had begun to quiet down and he could see from his peripherals that the wounded were being tended to. Feeling relieved he exhaled and removed his fingers from his head to run them through his likely extremely messed up hair. He paused halfway through the motion when Alec asked him about siblings and he shook his head. “I would have had an elder sister but,” he hesitated while thinking about how much to divulge, “I never met her.” For now he would stick to the basics, it was just simpler that way.
“I’m going to need a stiff drink after this.” He grinned, shifting the topic from tragedy once more to comedy. “I would imagine her moments are more frequent than yours Red.” He laughed. He once again turned his attention on Ashley as she recounted her tail of being rescued. “I am exceptionally glad to hear that you are alright! Were you frightened?” He asked her, inviting her to share the epic tale she seemed so ecstatic to tell.

She quickly rubbed her eye, remembering Lenore had smacked her in the face with the wet rope and gave a loud dramatic little sniff. "Miss Booklady accidentally hit me first..." she began squirming to be free from her brothers hold as her legs were not broken. She wanted to follow the male asking her to tell her little tale. Alec set her down, with great hesitance given there was still so much noise and discord going on. "then a buncha people helllllped. All in costume! Girl power!" The girl chirped on merrily unaware he was hurt and gave his leg a hug unknowingly. "But they got me out so its ok! Glad you are ok" She finally concluded bouncing over to Lenore or "booklady" as she'd called her to hug not only her, but all the Preteen Girl Squad members. "Thank you againnnn!" She stared up at the dark haired girl smiling. "You guys are all my heroes! You too Mister Nik for being so nice! Oh OH!! I got to join the team too and help!" she giggled before joining her brothers side finally, grabbing his hand possessively. Alec looked on as Ashley accounted her tale, a small sigh of relief as he shook his head some. He noticed the other wince as he sat down, remembering his own head injury momentarily. "Ah..I don't have any others besides this munchkin. Sorry to hear it..wait are you hurt? Why didn't you wear gloves." The fiery red head might have snipped at him worse for his pressed teasing but the fact the other had hurt himself was a bit more pressing. He lifted up his own gloved hand, not the usual brown ones, but the white riding gloves from the equine show. "Nikky youre a dumbass 'n should have borrowed some." he sighed, assuring his friend as he smiled. Going to plopped himself on the grass beside the barrel, Ashley too was quick to sit down beside him. "That'll smart later. 'n you do that." he muttered shaking his head in response to his drinking. "I'll be sleeping later to forget this mess, or playing a game before too long I hope." Wishful thinking anyway. He had to find Tala later. They would likely sign up after the fun he reasoned to himself. Plenty of time to enjoy the 100 Year celebration. Qixel Seriously, she adores Lenore for having her join the squad. ((She was technically part of Preteen Girl Plus Fancy Hat Lady And Also The Rock Squad. I didn't know if she was actually your character or not, so I used her in my head (I don't know if I ever specified that she was helping in the posts), sorry. xD)) Lenore was hugged for what seemed like the tenth time that week. Heroes, huh?

(( ahh thats so cute! I love that you did that emotion_kirakira i'm totally fine with it so no worries! <3 let me edit my reply after I post this. She'd just be glad to be part of the lil team and be beside herself + still call her a hero anyway for her efforts.)) The little girl had her eye on the leader of their "squad". She was proud of herself for having helped out. The little red was perhaps one of the smallest on the team of girls, next too mouse girl, but she'd helped too! Her little smile never seemed to waver as she hummed happily to herself. Her heroes were all so cool! Almost as cool, if not more so than big brother even. "We we're all pretty awesome~! The fancy lady was nice as well~ One guy was all big and muscly! you could smell what he'd been cookin' that day." She pipped up at some point from her spot she'd gone and sat down at. Lark was looking around as the chaos seemed to be subsiding. She was to nervous to really do much at all, the shock of almost becoming a yellow feathered pancake was almost to much to bare. She lifted her paper mask, which was colored and shaped to look much like a gold plated mask, above her head and took a deep breath. Now she could see better, and the dust was starting to settle.
One by one people were being pulled out of the canal. She was so thankful she had not ended up in the water. This beautiful dress she was wearing would have been ruined. She knew it could be one of the last treasures from her brother. He could enroll at any time, leaving her with her mute mother.
"Im safe..." She whispered with a grin. Her brother had also told her nothing bad could possibly happen. Apparently he was wrong and he would never live this one down! She heard a faint screech above her. She looked up and in the air was soaring a bird. She covered her brow with her forearm to get a closer look. It looked like it might be one of hers. Could be returning home from its hunt outside the gates.
"I wish I could fly like that." She said aloud not realizing she was speaking aloud. "Then I could at least see the whole world."

He listened to the young lady recount the events of the disastrous evening with polite intentness, throwing in the appropriate sounds, hand gestures and facial expressions as she went along. She was a tough little girl, that was obvious. If it had been him experiencing a similar situation at that age it was likely that parades and public events would have been forever ruined for him. He did not flinch as she hugged his leg but instead reached down and patted her head encouragingly. “Thank you.” Just as he got the last syllable out she was bouncing over to one of the girls he recognized from earlier. Hearing her words he couldn’t help but to wonder about what team she was referring to, but rather than asking he just nodded a tired nod and continued to smile.
Nik rolled his eyes as Alec began to display concern for him. “Oh sure, now you are worried!” He shook his head. He watched as the two sat beside him before observing his palms a second time. “Yea, I realized that after I started pulling that infernal barge.” Why an event coordinator would think of something as utterly ridiculous as pulling a barge around he would never know. “That is certainly true, but a little wine would be nice for dulling the pain.” He chuckled. Observing Alec’s face for a moment he narrowed his eyes and allowed his shoulders to slump. “Leave it to you to think of games and sleep.” He commented with an amused sigh.

At some point Ashley also related that she had been scared some, but with the book lady and her friends efforts the red head had been saved before too much injury could come to her. She was tired of course, and leaned heavily against her brother sighing as she closed her eyes. Alec gave him a sort of weird look, a cross between a stare and a glare really. "Hey! I didn't know until you winced. You need something to put on your hands? I think I saw a first aid kit around here some where..." He sounded unsure casting a glancing between the sign up booth he recalled Lenore being treated at, then back at Nik. "Uh..Otherwise, just soak your hands later, 'n make sure you dry them well. Wrapping 'em might be wise if its too bad." He shrugged some. At his notion of the whine, Alec wrinkled his nose up in consideration "Not like I can drink yet anyway, but I don't blame you. You'll be fine." He hoped anyway, a semi serious look as he narrowed his gaze at him suspiciously. "Hey Nik, were you from?" he leaned back on a palm chatting quietly with the other now. "I wonder what will happen now.." He murmured the last part to himself, sighing some as he noted in Ashley's excitement, the 6 year old was nearly half asleep already.

Day 5
Everything had been going great. The music, the dancing, the happiness. The dancing and music were the reasons that Rachel missed the chaos that started up with the barges at first but it didn't take too long to catch up. The teen had to quickly dodge some horses but thankfully nothing worse then a few bruises showed she was in the stampede.
Once the horses were clear she looked around at the mess and chaos, trying to make sure no one was seriously injured.

Waving his hand in a dismissive gesture he laughed at the reaction of the other. “Maybe it was from you toeing me with your boot earlier.” He teased. Following the elder red head’s gaze he looked about to where people were being treated for their injuries. Some were far worse off than he had ever been what with the possibility of broken bones or even deeper wounds. “I will just have them tended to later.” And by that he meant he would likely pay someone to patch him up later. For now he would let those who had stepped up to the position of a caregiver to tend to those who needed their attention far more than he did. “Thanks,” he paused, “keep this up and I will start to think you like me or something.” He exclaimed as a joke. He knew that he was beginning to feel more and more like Alec was his friend, but it was fun to jibe about it nonetheless.
“Yea, children really shouldn’t drink adult drinks.” He laughed, his ribs hurting from the effort and his head splitting once more. “Ugh.” He groaned before standing with the intention of lying down in the grass behind Alec and Ashley but he stopped when Alec’s question reached him. His spine stiffened and his smile faded as the answer came to his mind before meeting his lips. “Uh,” he paused to look around them in order to make sure there were not many prying ears, “Utopia…” He more muttered the location than spoke it. He hadn’t wanted anyone to know just how upper class he was, but he couldn’t very well lie and pull off being from a lesser location. He was hopeful the topic would change when Alec returned to thinking about the parade. “If they don’t cancel this mess it will be a miracle…”

"Uh, I guess I kinda consider you a friend yeah Nik." He actually used the others proper nickname for a moment designating he meant what he said.. However that was quickly forgotten as he laughed at him. "Children? HEY now. I'm gunna be 16 next year a*****e!" He hadn't been 15 for long, but he was no child. Not in his mind anyway. Although he was still the size of one by contrast to the other male, so its not like he blamed him for saying that. Hmphing at him, Alec rolled his eyes in response. "I shoulda kicked you harder obviously." It was obvious he wasn't serious, the hint of a grin was behind his consideration. "Alright..if your sure." The younger figured it was because he didn't know him well, not any notion of payment or upper class logic. Its what you did when people were hurt right? You offer to help them even if they politely decline like a stubborn idiot. Alec went quiet, listening to his answer, his eyes a bit wide in surprise. "You don't seem like a high-riser from some ivory tower." He squinted at him, clearly a bit baffled by the knowledge. Sounding momentarily doubtful even. He was from Wall Maria, nothing as lavish or grand as the central inner most. Alec only had what he'd been told by friends..and stories. This boy, and another girl named Andrea had helped change his opinion of the Sina wallers. "But thats fine. I guess you learn something every day. Youre not so bad for some snubby noble Nikky." Alec teased gently, keeping things as they had been, no hard feelings. Instead he dropped it, looking around at the scene hearing the guarded tone in the others. It wasn't much different than talking about his dad. Some subjects just weren't good to talk about. He'd answered him truthfully, and for it won the gingers trust. "I dunno..." He shifted some so the other could have space to sit or lie as he pleased lifting the child who was now snoozing lightly into his lap to make it easier should he have to stand with her..should more chaos ensue. No offense to the injured male beside him, he'd bolt with his sister as needed. "We'll see soon enough.." Alec murmured rubbing his head with a small sigh. [Day 4]Today was going to be better than the day before. His aches weren't anywhere near as bad as they had been, after a bit of exercise to loosen his muscles both to ease the lingering pain and to prepare for the task that was soon in coming.
Once he chose a spot on one side of one of the barges, he again recognized some of those helping from the days prior. Eventually, maybe there would be proper introductions between all of these increasingly familiar faces and himself. When the mark was given, he pulled with the rest of them, clenching his jaw tight and leaning forward with the rope he'd thrown over his shoulder. His hands were calloused enough that there was little need to wear gloves, but scraps of cloth were wrapped around his hands and knuckles just out of habit.[Day 5]Other than the fact that the lot of them were going to be ******** exhausted by the time this thing was over, Deacon liked to think that things were going perfectly well. People were cheering and clapping and happy. At least, until he overheard Shun say something as he turned. Deacon looked at him questioningly, before looking ahead at the upcoming bridge and swiftly processing just what was about to happen.
"
It was like everything was moving in slow motion. Deacon's stomach lurched with the sharp crack of the mast breaking, the hope of stopping chaos not at all effective. What had been sounds of celebration and music before were suddenly shrieks, crashes and the thundering of hoof beats.
He dove away from their barge, adrenaline helping him to haul a** away from the immediate danger zone. Frantically surveying the damage that was the result of something so easily avoidable, he tried to determine as quickly as possible if of where his assistance was needed.
