After leaving the crumbling Machinists headquarters, Vincent found himself back in his mother's territory, or what little remained of it, after the battle that took place there. Exiting the portal, Vincent stood in the vast open area, not knowing what he should do next. After what he said about Mirai and his mother, he was sure that he couldn't return to them. The only place left for him to go to, was this place, his home. Vincent would start walking around, not really knowing where he was going. "I hate you." he muttered.

A portal opened behind Vincent and Charlotte stepped out. She wasn't going to let Vincent walk away, she had allowed that with Atticus and Divine in the past, just letting them walk off and not confronting them again. "Vincent... I need you to talk to me about this." she told him.
While he walked, Vincent heard the sound of another portal opening. He would stop and smile as he already knew who it would be. The only person that would or rather could come to him at the moment. Turning around, Vincent would confront his mother as she spoke to him. "Mother, do you know how it feels to be born into a family such as this? To grow up being compared to not only your siblings, but your father as well? I'm not strong, I'm not smart and I'm not special. I'm nothing and it makes me sick." he told her. "I'm tired of being unable to do anything, unable to fight or protect the ones I love. I hate it."

Charlotte stared at Vincent for a moment after he spoke before looking at the ground "I see... I am sorry. I did not know you were under such stresses," she told him. She looked up at him then "I want to tell you that you are wrong though. You are strong. You are smart. You are special," she said "A reminder that I am also just a witch. Not a hybrid like your sister. Not a special heir or demon like your brother or father. I lived in your father's shadow for a very long time when we were young. Do you think that stopped me though?" Charlotte asked with a serious expression "I trained. I worked hard. I discovered my skills and used them to my advantage, even against beings as strong as Divine. If I can then so can you," Charlotte walked over to Vincent and put her hand on his shoulder "I don't want you thinking you have to be like your father or surpass your siblings. I want you to gain your own power and find what makes you special. Even though you do not have your father's demonic abilities, you have his determination and inner strength. You also have his kindness," She kept a serious expression on her face though there was sadness in Charlotte's eyes as she looked at Vincent "I don't want you to think those things... because what you just said is not true and I know it. You are just as capable as your sister at doing great things. I knew it from the time I first held you. If you feel depressed, stressed, forced to become something just because of your family, then I want you to tell me and I will help you. I will help you carry whatever wait you feel you possess. Just please do not think that it is a good idea to disconnect from me or your sister because it isn't. I know. Alright?"
Vincent would close his eyes and stare down at the ground as Charlotte spoke to him. While, deep-down, he was glad that she had come to speak to him, to help him, something about her words just didn't make that much of an impact to him. Maybe it was because of the fact that she was his mother and that she had to say those things, or maybe she was telling the truth and that she really did consider him just as capable as the others. Feeling her hand on is shoulder, Vincent would lean in close and wrap his arms around her. "I'm sorry, mother." he stated, before letting go of her and stepping back. "I just feel so alone. I never knew father and me and Mirai aren't close at all. Without Atticus, I only have you and I don't want to be a burden to you, now that you have the job of watching over Death City." Vincent would admit before looking away. "Atticus was the closest thing I had to a father figure, despite him being my brother. He helped me become stronger, he encouraged me and made me see my potential, but now, I'm lost without him." his words seemed so sincere, but his eyes told a different story. Something within Vincent had changed.

Charlotte glanced at the ground "I am sorry... I know I can only do so much for you. Obviously I can't be a father figure..." she said, joking with the last part to try and lighten the mood. "I do know Atticus and your father wouldn't want you you lose hope just because they are gone. You need to stay strong and even though they aren't here physically, I know both of them will be watching over both you and your sister. Atticus helped you get to this point, now it is time to see what path you will take. It is time for you to meet people, experience life, and go through hardships... that will shape who you will be when you are older. I will still be here though if you need anything. Never think that you will be a burden because that will never be the case. I love you very much and I always will no matter what." She was quiet for a moment as she stared at Vincent, trying to see what had changed about him. She walked over to him and placed her hand on the side of his face and turn him towards her so she was looking straight at him. She was quiet for a moment before sighing with a small smile "I do not know what it is you are thinking... Your father had the same quality."
As Charlotte placed her hand on his face and smiled, stating that she did not know what he was thinking and that it was a quality he had in common with his father, Vincent would smile. "Mother, your words are true." he finally stated before removing her hand and stepping back, "I must find my own path and experience the world for myself." Vincent then glanced away from her, "That is why, I am leaving Death City, leaving this world and you." Vincent looked back at her then, his eyes now cold and distant. "Even after all this, I can't stop feeling the way that I do. I still feel hatred and envy. I hate Father and brother for leaving us, I envy Mirai for her powers and skills." The more Vincent spoke, the darker and more unstable his soul wavelength became, it was obvious now, that the madness inside of him, was beginning to take control and with him being part human, there was little that Vincent could do to control it. "I love you and Mirai, mother, but there is just something inside of me that keeps bugging me. I can't seem to get rid of. This constant nagging and scratching, I need to end this and I know of only one way."

Charlotte only stared sadly back at Vincent as he spoke. She felt terrible that she had let this happen. "How are you going to end it?" she asked finally as she stared at her son.
Hearing his mother, Vincent turned and looked out at the empty place, where their home once stood, "I'm going to challenge Mirai to a battle." he told her. "I want to know once and for all, how weak I am compared to her. I need to see her true strength firsthand. I can not think of any other way. Just how far has she gone and how far behind I am." Vincent looked towards Charlotte then, "I am going to fight her and try my best to beat her. I will attempt to crush her with every ounce of strength I have. I want her to feel how I feel, to be powerless and desperate." he then smiled, looking eerily similar to Despair. "That is the only way for me to calm my soul. I hope you understand."

"And I assume I am too late to stop you..." Charlotte replied. She was silent for a few seconds before sighing "If that is what you think helps... then do it... I don't want you two killing each other though. I also suggest waiting so you both can get back to full strength," she glanced at where the house used to be before the area began to glow. Slowly forms began growing out of the ground, turning into the house's basic foundation before building off of that. Charlotte looked back at Vincent "I want to tell you this though. If Mirai had the choice, she wouldn't have chosen the abilities she now possesses... And just because she has those abilities doesn't mean she has felt the way you have felt before."
Watching as their house was slowly being repaired, Vincent would listen to the last bit of advice his mother had to give. He knew that what she said was true, that Mirai didn't choose to have those powers and that she has suffered a lot because of them. Everything she said was true, but for Vincent, it was already too late. His mind was made up, from the moment Atticus had died. "Charl, can you send a message to Mirai for me?" he asked before going and sitting down near the tree that housed the dreams and memories of countless beings. "Tell her, to meet me here at this tree, three days from now." It was painfully clear that Vincent was not going to back down, he was dead-set on fighting her. "Three days should be more than enough for her to regain her strength as well as for me to regain mine." Vincent looked at Charlotte and smiled. "Is that fine?" he asked.

Right as Vincent said her name, Charl popped up onto Charlotte's shoulder. She glanced at Charlotte afterward though the witch didn't say anything in reply. The doll jumped onto the ground "Oki doki!" she replied before jumping in the air and disappearing. By then, the house was already rebuilt and was wrapping up construction on the inside.
As the house was nearing completion, Vincent would stand up and gradually make his way there, having grown tired of talking. "Mother, I'm not doing this because of father or brother, anymore. I'm doing what you've said and following my own path. It just so happens that this is just another obstacle that I must conquer." he told her. "I hope you understand."
