The dragon leaned forward, huffed him his face, and moved past. Julian's wings drooped at having failed to get the dragon as his mount. But at least he had tried, it was a good shot. And for a moment there he had almost had it. While the failure was disappointing, he was ready to try again, moving further into the forest in his search for a new challenge.

Oh for the love of! The goat was back and it was still trying to eat his clothes! Yeah, he definitely crossed off getting one of those. Beggars couldn't be choosers, but honestly, the clothes-eating aspect was a definite turn-off.

Julian passed another rock that moved in his fleeing from the goat. He paused, glancing at the tortoise.
No... Yeah, he would try again. He was running into more creatures now, maybe he would find another dragon, or something just as interesting.

Mort's rock that he decided to rest on previously began to shift, and with a yelp the zomboil staggered off it in time to see a head lazily pop out. Apparently it was just wondering who had taken the time to sit on her rather than be angry someone had. Better rested, Mort decided to take a crack at taming her.

A sound caught his attention and he looked up to see...
A goat in a tree??
The first thought that went through his mind was how in the world had it gotten up there? The second was whether he wanted to help it get down. It didn't take long for him to decide if the goat had gotten up there, it could get itself down and he wasn't about to risk his clothing trying to help it.

Taking a calming breath, the zomboil began to exude his FEAR in careful measured amounts. The tortoise stood unmoved for several seconds, but eventually she began to relax a bit, her head bobbing slightly.

Julian was walking again, taking his time so that he didn't miss anything. So far nothing since that tree-dwelling goat, but he had his hopes up that he would find and tame something soon.

Yet even when relaxed the tortoise was not one to be conquered easily, and her sharp black eyes found his and bore into them. Slowly her neck extended, and her beak bit at the air challengingly.

He suddenly stumbled, tripping over something. Of course, his feet got tangled up and he ended up face-first on the forest floor. Looking back, he was a tortoise had turned its head look at him as it continued to chew on the leaves in its mouth. Geez, he was starting to trip on these things, he needed to pay more attention.

Yet in spite of this stubborn pant eater's attempts, Mort was not going to be swayed away this time. Remembering what the sisters' had suggested, he imagined himself in gleaming armor made of FEAR and approached the animal, a hand extending to touch the top of her head. The tortoise was frozen, watching warily, but when he made contact she merely blinked - acceptance, he supposed, since she could have nipped a finger easily. Smiling, Mort mounted himself atop her large shell, pulled out a long frond and held it over and before her face to guide her back to where the Horsemen waited.Upon arriving back where the sisters waited, Mort hopped off and showed his new mount - it was almost appropriate, a slow-moving zombie taming a slow-moving tortoise; even if they did eat differently. "Is here!" he announced with a grin, in spite of the multiple cuts and odds and ends sticking out of his hair, clothes, and perhaps even skin. No sooner had Julian climbed to his feet and walked a few paces away that he ran into yet another tortoise. This must be a tortoise hang-out or something, there seemed to be so many around. He really hoped he ran into something that wasn't a tortoise... or a clothes-eating goat.

Julian turned in another direction and started walking that way instead of the way he'd been going in, hoping it would help.
And it had! He ran into another dragon. Hopefully he'd have better luck this time.
Taking a deep breath, he drew himself up, pretending he had his FEAR to help him gain control over the situation.

Needless to say, the dragon wasn't intimidated and in fact it seemed much more aggressive than the first one he had run into. It stalked towards him, but Julian held his ground. He hissed in warning at the dragon, clicking his claws together.

Without warning, the dragon charged and Julian had no choice but to launch himself into the air and watch sadly as it ran off. Well, it was probably better he hadn't tamed that one, it probably would have given him problems...

Julian landed and started walking again, only to get a chill up his spine. It wasn't the feeling of impending doom from his natural ability, this was more... base. He was an owl, and there was something out there bigger than him, and hungry. He turned, locking eyes with a hungry-looking wolf.
