As far as failings went, Lex actually got pretty lucky with this one. It merely missed grabbing the rope, and teetered on the edge for one fur-raising second. As its heart slowed to a more regular pace, Lex prepared to go again. Carefully- gator guts were not pleasant.

Lex didn't miss this rope. One bold gator leaped a good three feet out of the water and snapped the rope, but didn't quite get Lex. The wind was knocked out of it when it hit the bank, coming out in one big WHOOMPH. Gasping, it headed out of bite-range.

Lex decided it did not like beavers. Wobbling along the log was more difficult this time, it was tired. A seagull zipped past its ear and made Lex flinch. Lex had to suppress a strangely strong desire to punch the intern manning the gull-gun.

((ROUND FIVE, FIGHT!!! ))

Lizzy still couldn't help grumbling mentally at the seagull-gunner for that "low-blow." She almost didn't seem to notice the wire-crawl this time. However, she stopped herself just in time and got down to her belly again.

One more crawl. Just one more time.

((Rolling/Taking care of business 8D))

EDIT: She had managed to conquer the wire-crawl. It had never really been much of a problem. The next obstacle was the cliff-climb.

Again, she remembered her previous path and she crawled up the side of the cliff. She went slow, but at least she was completely safe on the way up. At the top, she hoisted herself onto the solid ground, then looked down the cliff-side again.

That was the last time she'd have to climb this cliff.

((Rolling rolling rolling 8D ))

EDIT: Next on her list was the gator pit. Her least favorite obstacle. Maybe the faster she got this challenge done, the better.

With that in mind, she grabbed onto the rope and jumped...

Only for a gator to jump up in front of her, snapping its jaws at her.

"Eep!" she squeaked as she once again kicked at the gator, pushing herself back to the starting side. Oh, how she hated those gators.

((Rolling again 8D))

EDIT: Frowning a bit, Lizzy glanced back down to her pants leg at the reminder of her first "failure" for this obstacle. She wouldn't let that happen again.

With a heave, she once again flung herself towards the other side of the pit, landing about 2 feet past the edge of the pit. She let go of the rope, letting it swing back.

Finally, the last bit of the challenge. LAST STOP, EASY-OBSTACLE.

((Rolling to see if there is SEAGULL FAIL))

It was the last thing keeping her from sitting on the sidelines. The very last thing. Lizzy stepped over that hole she made in the log, then continued on, dodging the best she could.

Until her foot fell through the log again. She attempted to quickly pull her foot back up before the gunner took advantage of it.

"Oh come on!"

((Will the gull gun win?))

EDIT: Tugging at her leg, she attempted to dodge the gulls as they came in her direction.

She managed to dodge 1, 2, 3, 4 gulls, before the fifth one managed to get her in the forehead. If this had been dodge ball, that would have been against the rules.

Then again, Lizzy recalled, when had there ever been any rules to this game?

((Rolling again 8D ))

EDIT: That gull to the forehead had really been the last straw for her. She tugged on her leg so hard that it actually tore the end of her pants leg. She was done with this challenge. Rather than keeping to her slow-and-steady pace, she then sprinted to the end of the log, dodging when necessary.

There! Her team couldn't say she didn't contribute!

Oh god. Very little breakfast plus an obstacle course? Rosa liked watching American Gladiators, sure, but doing something like this herself ... much, much less enthusiastic. But she really had no choice. She stretched carefully, then trotted up to start the obstacle course with ...

... THE WIRE CRAWL.

The mud stunk. Rosa tried to hold her breath; that lasted for all of 30 seconds, as she squirmed, wriggled, and hauled herself forward under the wire. Twice, she had to pause and maneuver very carefully to unhook her clothes or fur from a pointy bit of wire. Hell if she was letting the obstacles tear her all up. ... There was mud all over her clothes and all over her ink. Ohhhhh, somebody was going down for this. Rosa didn't really care who, but she was going to do something to someone.

She squirmed free of the last bits of the wire, snarling and panting. At least nothing terrible had happened. Yet.

Next obstacle. Oh damn. Well, at least she was good at tree-climbing, but Rosa had no idea if that skill would translate into climbing a huge ******** cliff. But she jogged forward and gamely took on ...

... THE CLIFF CLIMB.

The handholds sucked. Badly. Rosa very nearly fell off several times, as her pads got sweaty from the exertion and her fingers and toes got tired. Little tiny crevices in the rock, teeny little outcrops and rocks ... once a handhold came away in her paw altogether, and she had to stop for nearly a minute after she'd caught herself, clinging to the sheer cliff face and shaking all over. Sure, there were mattresses down there, but it'd still hurt!

When Rosa scrambled over the top edge of the cliff and saw the next obstacle, she growled and spat something in Spanish that would have made her mother wash her mouth out with soap. Fortunately, her mother wasn't around. She took a moment to catch her breath and moved on to ...

THE GATOR PIT.

She took a running leap, soaring over the snapping jaws below. When the rope slapped against her palms, she grabbed it as tightly as she could; she did NOT want a repeat of her close encounter with gator breath. Once had been bad enough. Her momentum carried her easily across the pit, and she let go. Just like jumping off a swing. She even managed to land on her paws.

Encouraged by her success at the Gator Pit, Rosa moved confidently on to ...

THE BEAVER BALANCE.

The log was unstable. The beavers were snappy. Seagulls whistled overhead as Rosa ducked, dodged, and wobbled her way across the log. Just let me get through this, and I'll, I'll ... I don't know, just pleeeeease, she begged silently. When her paws hit solid ground on the other side of the pit, she almost fell backwards in startlement. She'd ... made it? Without anything worse than mud happening to her? YESSSS.

... maybe she should try again, try to get the Sharks a few more points.
