Duraz walked through the streets of the city, bored with it now... "I feel sorry for this city, its leaders are false, its streets are shambles and its churches are desolate." As he continued down an alley, he was jumped by a mugger. "Hand over your money, otherwise I'll have to pry it from your cold dead hands..." A knife pressed against Duraz' throat "And its populace are thugs..."

A minutes later Duraz stepped out of the alley, with a new coat and pair of shoes. Anyone who was unfortunate to look in that alley would have seen that the attempted mugger had been lifted several feet from the ground and impaled by a metal pole, sticking him to the wall.

Under his lifeless body lay a small bowl, filled with various herbs. Blood dripped into it causing a digusting smell. The bowl itself sat on a symbol painted in the muggers blood. It, along with the bowl, formed a large eye shape.

Duraz continued on through the city, leaving behind a trail of the same symbols along with corpses of thiefs and beggars. Though no two were the same. They retained the eye symbol and the herbs, but the way it was performed changed depending on what came to hand. In one case the unfortunates own intestines were used to form the eye.

He eventually came to a stop by a small bar, his hands dripping with blood. "What a eventfull day it has been, but no I think its time for the finaly..." He smiled.

Several minutes later, a tower of smoke roze over the city and the bar was on fire. The several patrons and staff hung from the roof, their faces frozen with terror and an eye painted on their bare chests...

Duraz on the other hand stood amongst a crowd which had formed before walking away down the street, just another face in the darkness of Au Shinduago...

Duraz wandered the city streets, they were his now. The Leaders of the city cared not for the affairs of thier people, the only one remaining was Valatar and he had not been seen in many a night.

As he walked through the market he noticed the increase in begging, murder and thievery. He smiled as he saw a young boy, in his teens, run a knife across a fallen mans throat and make off with his gold.

The city of Au Shinduago, the city of Duraz,.....
THE CITY OF MADNESS.....

Duraz also noted the increase in worshippers of the Slime Lord. Each one occasionly seek his advice and his gift of foresight. They all believed in his prediction of Ghaunadaur's rule of the entire, especially with this city as proof.

But Duraz was unsatisfied, with each day the missing pressence of Valatar wieghed on his mind, with him gone it was easy to take over but for how long? If he returned, alive, Duraz' plans could be stopped and he would fail his master. He had to find a way to locate Valatar and kill him before that time...

For now he would have to make do with just the lower streets. He decided to send a group of his faithfull to Ulorbbath to begin conversion there. Till then his time came he waited in an old warehouse, which had been changed into his temple. He sat upon a throne, marked with an eye.

His rags had changed for a more appearance and he had removed his hat, he kept his sash. And any of his followers who looked upon him feared him, as they looked into his orange eyes and at his large smile....

The Night of a Thousand Voices began with on odd stirring in the new Temple of snakes. Nearly a hundred cloaked figures, organized into teams of five spread out through the city to begin their work, an archer, two warriors, a mage and a cleric made up each team as they hunted down the marks Duraz himself had left behind. each team quickly and efficiently slaughtered anyone found near the places {which had become used as shrines by many} and reworked the blood and stone, creating monuments to the serpent lord along with other fresh spots surrounding half of the trade district and the upper class areas where the ruling houses sat. The serpentine assassins hunted down and made grim totems of known followers of the elder eye. A line had been drawn, Territory marked, the challenge made. Au'shinduago was at war with itself. Throughout all this, Duraz was left untouched, none made any move against him or Maovu, they were being saved for another.

An unsettling fog began to move through the streets of the city proper. Anyone within a mile from the fog would have the hairs on the back of their necks risen. Anyone who came within eye sight of the mist would get a deep sensation of the stomach. A feeling of fatigue, a feeling of death's claws touching their backs.

In the middle of the fog a figure could be spotted. Though anyone that can make out the structure of the figure would be wise to take shelter in a nearby building till the undead thing made its way past.

The figure was a wraith. Its body appeared to be only a skeletal torso floating above ground at eye level. A cloak concealed most of its ghastly appearance but a pair of soft glowing eyes can be made out under the shadow of the hood.

The wraith looked as though it moved with purpose but it slowly descended down the dead streets. Looking for something. The wraith gazed up at the monuments that had just been built of the Cobra King and only pressed on its course. In truth, Lithura chuckled in the back of her mind. The cultists of this city never cease to surprise her. She remembered when Au'shinduago was ruled by Kiaransalee at one time. It seems that the residents of Au'shinduago treats religions as though they are fashion trends.

Taking a right at the next avenue, the wraith continued on its course. Looking for a merchant with a caravan or of the sorts.

Along with many others liek them, the mercenary brothers too shelter withing the shop they had been hired to protect. Whisspers of the comign creature had preceded it's advance adn tebree had a few select spells swimmign in his mind, longsword in hand with his brother silently staring into the darkness. Malagrar had been feelign uncomfortable since they had entered the city, often muttering of being whatched by "The Other." it wasn;t th efirst time his slightly insane Artificer has spoken of th ebeing but never before with such a tone of... fear, in his voice. Always watchign over his younger brother, Tebree wondered if the approachign wraith was the "Other" that was always spoken of. "stay low and stay far... let the constructs fight for you." he communicated silently back,, bringing a nod from the younger male.

Coming around the avenue, the wraith found itself in the center of what appeared to be a market compound. Few people were on the street at this time. Only a few cloaked figures darted the shadows between the caravans, doing their usual shopping. The merchants however kept checking on their shipment while having a weapon close by. They to, had felt the coming presence of the wraith.

The wraith pressed on its course still and swept right up to next to the closest caravan. Chained slaves were lined up in the back. Chained to the caravan itself. Tables were set beside the wagon stacked with miscellaneous goods. Inside the wagon could be seen even more goods that were in bulk and strapped tightly when the wagon would be in motion going over large rocks in its trade route.

As the merchant saw the coming wraith, the old male drow slowly took up a b*****d sword and placed the hilt over his shoulder in a intimidating, wary way, "What can I do for you, stranger?"

A skeletal hand rose from the cloak and pointed to the bulk in the wagon and then a telepathic, echoing, deamonic voice rang out in a shrilly manner,

"Got any money for that order? The living has to eat, you know," the male drow snapped bravely.

The wraith slowly retrieved its grotesque hand back into its cloak and paused, seeming to continue looking at the male drow. Then slowly, the hand appeared again, this time bearing a heavy pouch full of gold coins.

The drow took the pouch slowly from the wraith and peered inside and smiled as he looked up, "Alright. Looks like you're true to your word.. How many pounds and slaves would you like and to where should I deliver it?"

The wraith then turned and departed from the market compound as it twisted its course to another exit. The wraith was covering as much of the city proper as possible to find any information whatsoever on the drow she was suppose to find.

With the wraith gone the bustle in the market picked up a little, and the brothers emerged from their places, Tebree still gripping his weapon tightly. "Looks like it wasn't here for us... How are you Malagrar?" "Cold, confused... so many voices... so cold, so cold..." Tebree nodded and rapped his cloak around his brother shoulders before taking his place back at the door. "the world changes.. but we, all of us, never do..." he mused as customers began to come nad go once again.

Steping through the shadows trying the best to keep a low profile he slips
from crowd to crowd gracefully and as inconspicuously as he could, he
was nearing the massive market place that took up the impresivly imence
city court yard, he moved in using such a crowded space to better hide
himself.

He moves trhough the area keeping his eyes open for the location or
some sign as to his destinaion he had been made awhere of several years
ago before he was hunted on the surface world.

By this time, the proper of Au'shinduago was far from being busy as it was earlier.

Something was moving through the city. It appeared unnatural and possessed the same uneasy feeling as the wraith who visited just a few days before.

It was a large, round, floating behemoth; a Beholder. But something was different about this particular Beholder. Its flesh seemed rotting and slowly deteriorating. It was the color of pasty white. Its teeth slowly rotting and falling out. Its body showed obvious stitch work.

It moved throughout the proper, its eye stalks twisting and turning about as though looking for something. Its great eye focused on its path. The pupils looked dim and glazed over. At first glance, anyone would expect that this creature was under a spell. And any experienced practitioner would know that this was in fact an undead minion.

Changing her mind about heading to her tavern Drejan instead decides to sneak about the city proper and see what is going on. Her ice dragon spots the beholder before she does and uses its cone of cold trying to freeze it. as ice crystals spread far along the streat in a solid sheet Drejan uses her druidic spell light in a way to reflect off the ice in a blinding glare. Only then does she realize the creature is an undead minion. Using the druidic spell entangling vines to snare it for a bit, still in her half-dragon form her hood pulled low over her face, she looks at it and says in a draconic hiss, "my master has a bussiness proposition for your's have your master meet mine at the tavern for details i can assure you the rewards will be substantial." as she holds out a few black diamonds procured from one of her dragons. leaving the beholder as quickly as she appeared she dissappears in a sumoned shadow and reappears with her dragons at the temple of snakes where she hopes to glean some information.

Tathdorl's feet carried him through the shadows of the city with ease, their soles silently moving him towards his goal; the wealthy man in the lane ahead of him was rather oblivious, and he had marked him a while ago as an easy target. He moved quickly, but the man was oblivious to him as he continued to close the gap; another minute, and he'd be within striking range. However, his plans were promptly disrupted when a large sheet of ice erupted into the space between them, causing Tathdorl to spring backwards several feet. The man he had been stalking quickly bolted, afraid of the magic and what else might happen. Tath decided to take no chances, and quickly turned around and skulked back into the shadows. As he roamed the back alleys, he gauged the time since he had seen the ice, then doubled back when he deemed that a safe amount of time had passed. However, his target was gone along with the fat purse he carried with him. Tath was disappointed, but such was the life in Au Shinduago; opportunity knocked, but all too often in disappeared before you could answer the door. In the mean time, he seated himself on an inconspicuous crate and watched the crowds, looking for another potential target. He kept his guard up, and his back to a wall as he eyed the people milling about; He loved crowds...
