Elainejoy Emmy Rossum's not so bad. She comes off conceited, but eh. *shrugs* It depends on the phan. I don't hate her, but I'm pretty sure most Leroux/Brightman/Gerik lover phans hate her. That said, I hate phanbrats or fanfics with Mary Sues (or worse...self inserts). UGH. Or people who say "I would totally do the Phantom if he kept his mask on.". She's a nice actress, but she simply wasn't suited for the role. She was too softspoken, and her voice wasn't Broadway-worthy. You know, I hear that a lot from so-called phans. "omg eric r sooooo hawt!!132343grg he jus gotta keep tha mask on lolololol". *shudders*

But how quickly we forget Such a sure and perfect plan, And unlearn the passions that once had burned. About the "He's so hot if he would keep his mask on" thing, I happen to agree with the LAST bit... and NOT because of appearance. As I've seen in both Leroux and Kay, having the mask on makes him act differently, since his weak point (his "hideous" face) is not exposed. So I do have a preference of him with the mask, not because it makes him hot (perish the thought!) but it makes him just a better person. But how could I have seen? What was I to do? How could I know I would find you? -Erik, The Phantom of the Opera, Tom Alonso

I concur, Ela.
And my biggest annoyance recently...
When other people (especially non-Phans/anti-Phans) touch or handle my Leroux.
Today at lunch a non-Phan took my Leroux and my anti-Phan friend took it from him to give it back to me. >.>;;
I think this might just be me though...I'm a little possessive about my Phantom stuff. XD

You have a point there, Ela, though I wouldn't say it makes him a better person. All the mask does is give him confidence. With the mask on, he can be a ghost, a man, a genius, a magician, or a murderer. Without it, he is merely Erik, a deformed aging man who fears the world's ridicule on something entirely not his fault. With the mask, he can be anyone in the world but Erik.
That being said, I imagine it would be better to have him with the mask on, since he would be more ahold of his faculties, but perhaps with work, he could be civil without it.
All of that aside, no fanbrat thinks of that. They just don't want a corpse banging them in their adolescent fantasies.

But how quickly we forget Such a sure and perfect plan, And unlearn the passions that once had burned. True, Uta. But I do prefer him confident rather than suceptible and shamed. Emmy Rossum did make me angry. I dunno, you could TELL she was lip synching atrociously in some parts, which irritates me to no end, and also, I don't like how she portrayed Christine.

Me Llamo B Emmy Rossum did make me angry. I dunno, you could TELL she was lip synching atrociously in some parts, which irritates me to no end, and also, I don't like how she portrayed Christine. Lol. There were parts where I noticed the lip syncing thing, but usually in musical-type movies, the actors record their voices and lip sync to it when they shoot the scene.

Yeah, but it's sad when you notice the lip-syncing. It's one thing to know they're doing it, and another to have it blatantly obvious.

Phantoms girl I thought he was hot w/o his mask 2! I'm a phan of everything phantomy! Um.... I used 2 spell it Eric, but that's be4 I was told and I read poto from Leroux. I hate how different Raoul is in the movie from the book, sure he's better in movie, but he's too good and how they forgot the Persian. Erik was close 2 book. Ditto Christine. Madame Giry is somewhat different...... I like more in movie...... lol same!! i love him with out the mask too ^^ my friends are like "EWWW no way" but i say "i will bang him without the mask anyday" but no one agrees with me crying

Who is Puffer Fish As per usual, I agree with Uta. I mean, really. The way he acts on camera, it makes it look like he thinks the song "I'm too sexy" was for him or something. Of course, that song is my friend's dad's theme song...*shudders* Scary...and he walks around without a shirt a lot! burning_eyes
I know what you mean. I mean, I don't completely hate the performance, but I do think he didn't get the "feel" of Erik at all. I mean he hadn't heard of the play before signing on for the movie, so that tells us enough...

I remember hearing something similar that he didn't think the movie was going to be a big deal (maybe that's why he's BSing his perfomance and all like "lookatmeeh I'm Fabiiooo" ).

I wore my phantom "Prima Donna" shirt to school last week. One girl came up to me in the halls and said "Omg! I love that movie! Did you know that they made a musical based on it? It's awesome!" Not even trying to correct her, I asked her if she had read Leroux's book. Her response? "...There's a book?" eek *bangs head on desk*
