Heh - fast work, Orna! I'm just posting the general announcement now. AND, I haven't posted the House points yet - too tired. I would also love it if someone would check my math on the house points--I accidentally tabbed away over the page while it was in edit mode and had to recreate it. Congrats to all!

Hey, I got an idea and posted it in the FanFiction area-if you are interested go check it out and tell me what you think....(It's not hard to find, It's the only post in there where I am the author... LOL) I could use your helpful input an ideas, and tell people from other houses too if you get a chance...er...thanks, and have a fantastic day!
P.S. I just read the seventh book for the second time, and it was as good as when I read it the first! It left me grinning from ear to ear...I LOVE that novel, it was superbly written! Well, thanks again!

fourtysecondscarf HEE!!! I won! I'm so happy! Everyone did really great, and it was interesting to see what scores everyone else got. I still have my favorites among them, luna being my first...Everyone else who won the category prizes totally deserved them. You guys Rock! I loved all 3 of the Lunas, but I have to stay anonymous as to which comments were mine, but I will say I loved all three of the Lunas, and thought you did an outstanding job on your two, Orna! As you can see by the scores they were close! Congratulations to all the Ravenclaw winners!!! Yes, the Yule thread is open for ideas! Empress_Cat, you can post about the fanfiction in the Common Room where the other houses will see. (They aren't allowed in our Common Room and vice versa). I fell asleep before I could update the announcements, but at least I saw Dancing with the Stars before I conked out. 2 seasons ago, I won special VIP tickets to the final performance of Dancing with the stars and saw Emmett in his green sparkly outfit and Cheryl and Mario and Karina dance off- unbelievable (magic HAD to be involved)! This week Cameron & Edyta did a Viennese waltz to the Hedwig's theme from the HPs movies, and Edyta wore one of the loveliest, most elegant floaty gown I'd ever seen. It took 20 seconds before the music became recognizable though! --you have to see a clip of their dance to see the gown moving! Thanks to you-tube, you can see! I want me a gown like that! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5zoHH4xFVg(and actually the two of them were voted out last night, the judges and audience got it right--Cameron was wooden in his movements and holds)

I have to agree with you LHH - her dress was GORGEOUS! I wonder how many people had no idea where the music was from? Personally, I guessed it in the first few notes and chalked it up to being a geek (and listening to the HP soundtracks during finals weeks back in college).
I still think that Marie Osmond should go soon - her technique really isn't up to par with the others. Sure she's a great entertainer, but this dancing does focus a lot on technique.
I'm heading out to Alabama to go with my Aunt to a doctor's appt - so I might not be on tonight or tomorrow during the day. I'll be back though, don't you worry! smile

Whoa...That's Hedwig's theme? I thought it was just the beginning of each Harry Potter movie...I had it stuck in my head all summer >< That's so cool! I wonder if they have sheet music for that somewhere...would definitely be fun to play =D

Orna The_Golden_Sage: What you stated in your most recent post makes more sense, I think it was what you were trying to say initially but the wording was off. When you posted the first time you consistently stated that we were "hearing different sounds" or "feeling different things" when it really is that our body is interpreting those sensations in different ways - the sounds and feelings are the same.
I understand coming from a philosophy viewpoint, one of my favorite professors is the philosophy professor (and you've never heard philosophical musings until you've been backpacking for a few days with your professor). However, I am coming into this argument as an occupational therapist who has had experience in working with children who have sensory disorders or sensory integration issues. That's why I am insistent that the sensory experience is the same for all of us - it's how it's interpreted by our bodies that is different (based on cultural, personal, physical, etc experiences). I've seen a roomful of kids react to a single sound - all of them would keep on doing their thing except for one of them; the sound was the same, the interpretation was different.
I'm completely against the idea that everything is in our minds, although at one point I was completely for the idea of 'everyone for themselves' and 'we are our own person.' Also interpreted that everything is in our minds and we control how we experience things. If you want to know the reason, it's because there is no way that my mind is 'everything.' Honestly, I find the whole idea egotistical - we control everything?
Sorry it took a while to reply, I'm trying my hardest to get an A in this Philosophy class, it's keeping me busy with the research and papers. But I'm not going anywhere, so don't worry about me not coming anymore. But as long as philosophy exists, so will my want to get an A. smile
I'm glad I could clear up what I was trying to say and help you understand what I was trying to communicate.
Part of your post that I quoted that is in bold I agree with, we agree to a certain level.
When it comes to being in our minds, this is how it was presented. Imagine a piece of paper. It has qualities that are given to it by you and your perception of it. It has texture, it can make sound, it takes up space, it has mass, and it has color. If you (heaven forbid) died, your perception of the paper would be lost. It is still a piece of paper, but not as much as it was with you in the world. So the paper is in constant flux since people are coming and going into and out of the world every second. If you were to pause the world and allow no one new to come in and no one to go out the paper's flux would not be constant anymore. Now while we are in pause, lets take out a few people form the world. Those perceptions of the paper from those people don't count towards the paper anymore, cause they are gone. The paper is still there, and those of us that are still alive have an idea of what paper is in our minds. But once everyone in the world is gone, who is left that keeps the idea of paper alive? Since all ways of identifying paper are lost, all ways of thinking about paper, and perceiving paper, it's qualities are lost, is there still paper? According to the case of perception being in our minds, the paper wouldn't exist to us anymore.
This is what is meant by it's all in our heads.

I have to say that this isn't fair. You who live in the States get all the fun! I don't think we have a philosophy class in Norway. At least, not in any schools that I've heard of..
Oh, how I wish that we could have such lessons.. We're hardly allowed to discuss subjects in our classes. The only time we've been allowed to do that this year, was when we were to write an argument for, or against a cause.

Really? Philosophy is okay...much better than Social Studies, at least. -pokes dates- When you have to write an essay for every arguable topic your teacher comes upon, it's not fun anymore. crying Whoa...The_Golden_Sage sounds like a cross between Parmenides and Heraclitus. =O The teachers really are brainwashing us...
