The Acolyte was so shocked by how Joe attacked that his dodge was delayed. Not even thinking to teleport - perhaps that needed some preparation or warmup? - he jumped sideways and was sent spinning as his and Fyrin's legs clipped each other before Fyrin smashed against the wall.

Joe filed away that information. That would certainly be useful in the future. "Taste justice!" Joe roared as he remotely lit the hottest fires he could on and around the Acolyte while it was stationary. Joe himself darted forward, leading with the Saber and aiming to skewer the Acolyte. Fire was pretty much ubiquitous in the room at this point.

The Acolyte writhed as he was immolated, unable to focus enough to teleport or run; its armor was clearly meant to protect from heat as well, but Joe's fires of justice were more than it could stop. Joe's blade fell upon it. It twisted one last time before becoming totally still.

"Victory belongs to justice this day!" Joe boomed, raising the Saber over his head. After a few seconds, he trotted off to examine the armory.

Several vampires and werebeasts were inside. As Joe walked in, they threw their weaponry to the ground in unison. "We surrender," a vampire who appeared to be some form of officer declared.

Fyrin entered, dusting himself off. "We accept their surrender, Joe," he told him. "Also, good thinking, but you could've planned something for my exit from that situation, hmm?" Fyrin immediately began perusing the armory, determining what sort of weaponry might be hidden within.

Joe nodded as they surrendered. He supposed that his appearance was quite frightening, and that they had probably heard what had happened above. He stepped forward so that he was fully within the room and looking at the vampire from up close. "Nice to know my reputation precedes me," Joe said as he raised the Saber slowly. He watched to see the vampire flinch, but instead laid the Saber across his own arm and cut his wrist. Drops of fire fell to the floor, and then the wound sealed in a second. "Remember that, if you have any thoughts of escaping," Joe said. "Now then, if you would be so kind as to lay on the ground. No weapons, no shields, and no magic, or this gets very, very messy for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation, and remember that I fight for the side of justice; I won't hurt you until you do something to deserve it." He sat casually in a chair near the door, but it did not burn. He watched Fyrin make his rounds and glanced at the prone captives every once in a while.

"We're vampires and werebeasts. We can't use magic," the officer blurted out, irritation in his voice, before he caught himself.
Fyrin found a formidable arsenal; grenade launchers, assault rifles, sniper rifles, submachine guns, machine pistols, shotguns, and pistols, all of an unrecognizable make, were on neatly arranged weapon racks.

"Oh, of course. How insensitive of me," Joe said idly. He snapped his fingers and a small, explosive fireball went off just above the officer's head with a loud snap!

The officer didn't even flinch. He calmly extinguished his hair with his bare hand. "If you're going to execute me, go ahead, as long as you do it quickly and cleanly. Just don't kill my men."

"I already told you," Joe said with a sigh. "I'm not going to kill you. Hell, we can even be friends. I don't have a personal problem with you; not yet, anyways."

"You're an honorable man," Joe said, shifting around in his chair. "Say, how do family groups work for you guys? Not just vamps, you werebeasts can answer too. Is that term offensive? What should I call you guys?"

"Werebeasts is the generally accepted term. It's lost its prior negative connotations," a demorphed werewolf replied. "Werebeasts often follow the family structures of their morph, which is passed on maternally. Wolves, for instance, have a pack-clan structure. Those that have no real familial organization naturally generally tend towards the traditional family organizational style of their host culture. Vampires..."
"Vampires follow a clan structure," the officer explained. "A patriarch or matriarch creates the inner circle of a clan, and various branches extend from his or her direct progeny, who are generally elevated bloodhounds or biological offspring. There is almost always a strict limit on how many bloodhounds a vampire may be master to as a precaution against overhunting an area."

Joe nodded. "I see. So, what I'm hearing is that you all have families to go home to, yes?" Joe sent a burst of mana along the Angel line to hopefully get some backup here, to take the weapons and prisoners away.
