Yeah. I'm sure that canonically he died. But I wouldn't mind at all if
Some EU product had him survive, get a robotic arm, and kick some empire a** as a rebel, before dying in combat saving Bail Organa's life or something.

But I've thought up a million things that could've happen if Mace survived. As we speak, my bro and I are putting together a comic about it. Pretty awesome if you ask me... blaugh

Yeah. We've actually recently had this idea that Mace survives, and a young kid finds him injured, takes him home and nurses him back to health (with help form mother, older sibling....whatever). Then, Mace teaches this kid the ways of the Force and he/she bocomes a Jedi, and Mace dies. But now there's now a Newer (haha) Hope.
It's a recent idea, and it's a work-in-progress, but we're either going to put it into a comic or write a script and make a movie. Who knows? I'm excited for it though!

Oh. Haha, yeah. Or to make it more dramatic, once the kid is a Jedi, he'll try to go up against Palpatine and be killed instantly, turned to the dark, or get amnesia....
