Spritekin ArynChris A.C. sighed deeply, cradling the infant. The sword... felt odd in her hands, in a way she couldn't even begin to describe. "He's a fool," she murmured over to the children. "I can't stay. Even if I could!" She snorted a laugh. "Like I know how to use a blade. Not likely." She held it up for a moment as if it was a piece of trash she had picked up and wrinkled her nose distainfully. Half a moment later she nearly dropped it, startled into a yell as it stung her hand. "What the--!?"
But rather than drop it, she found herself gripping it tighter, much as she would hold her bat if she were left-handed instead of right. A.C. got the rare opportunity to stare at her own hand as if it was not her own.
"This... might not be good." ((....She is OBLIGATED to save the children! Muahahaha...just kidding ^_^ ))

A.C. looked around hopelessly, feeling her grip on the sword get tighter. "Okay, now this really isn't good." I am NOT left-handed, I do NOT know how to use a sword, and I do NOT want to be holding one like this. Especially HIS sword! This is the one that's a stick of wood with a freakin' NAIL in it half the time! If nothing else... this is just embarrassing.
She glared down at it for a minute. "Well, hell, maybe you'll at least be able to put a dent in Anc. Lord knows he's th--FREAKIN' A!!"
This time, she had nearly dropped the baby.
"Alright already!" A.C. yelled at the sword. "I'll keep my mouth shut, just stop doing that..!" She sighed and tried to adjust the load in her other arm. It was rather difficult to balance an infant and a baseball bat at the same time... and she had no intention of dropping either. Eventually she had to kneel down and use her knees.
To the two kids, who were staring, she frowned. "It's awkward, a'ight? I'd like to see either of you try it without help." They got the hint. Smart kids...

Blitz and Erica arrived at the shelter, and Blitz set Erica down. "Kay, now what?"

Now A.C. walked up to them with a frown on her face. The sword burned (as usual) in her left hand, and her right was tightened around the bat. The two children trailed behind her, the boy holding the infant carefully. "Excuse me," she addressed them. "What are you doing here? It may just be me, but you two don't look hurt."

Erica looked at AC, "There were alarm bells going off, figured it would be the place to come. And for being so pushy about it, you don't look so hurt yourself." Erica looked at AC, trying to figure out if she knew her from somewhere, then remembered the brownies at the AA base.

((Her bat in her right, Seraphi's sword in her left. He "gave" it to her assuming that she would stay at the Shelter and use it to protect the place in his absence... check the first post on this page for what happened after that. It won't let go of her hand.))
"Alarms, eh?" A.C.'s eyes narrowed slightly. "Lovely. Whatever."
And with that, she turned on her heel and left them there to once again try to leave. Every time she got near the mined part of the field, just at the edge of the Shelter, the sword seemed to yank her backwards off her feet and plant her firmly on the ground. The whole situation was very frustrating.

As the writer is off her game today, we will simply say that A.C. tried the invisible boundary again, fell on her butt again, and yelled a combination of obscenities and painful yelps yet again. She has done this several times since the sword grabbed her. Eventually she stalked back to Erica and Blitz, a set glower upon her face.
"Where are these alarms going off? I see people running from Krovh and Union, and the remains of Pheonix." This was not entirely true, since she couldn't actually see that far, but she sensed all those people's energies. It was highly disturbing, and she didn't really want to think about the oddness she was sensing from the cities themselves.
