Her Shizzyness

PostPosted: Thu Dec 21, 2006 7:44 am

With her confidence back, Myobi was determination incarnate. The clone's attacks seemed a bit more obvious to her fledging senses. She struggled to keep up, but somehow managed to do so. Her smile grew brighter as she again used the clone's own strength against it. She was quite possibly getting the hang of this. But still. She wanted to be sure of it. So she would wait just a little longer before going to the Kusakage with her good news. She'd been working on this style for a long time. So it was with barely restrained excitement that she faced the clone again.

Muscles were beginning to burn. This style was a lot more work than it at first would appear. So when the clone's next attack came, Myobi was feeling a bit off balance. She didn't manage to get her hands up in time to deflect the blow. The clone's unforgiving hands hit her square in the chest, sending her skidding back several feet. She groaned from her position on the ground. "Ow..." With a pained smile, she got to her feet. Well...there was always tomorrow. And she only had a little bit left to do, in any case. She, again, limped out of the clearing to head home for some doctoring.

Anyway, he walked right up the door as always, standing on the outside of one of the social circles. Shinichi had noticed that friends were often invited to stand within the circle, but he was the exception in all these cases. So, the kids continued their fruitless conversation and ignored him, at least until the bell rung to indicate the start of school. He snapped back to the present and passively glanced at the shuriken. Today would be the day to perfect this jutsu.

Shinichi's mind wandered often, especially when there was no worldly items to distract him. For supposedly "normal" children, that would have been the shrieks and laughter of friends, but laughter always meant ridicule for him. He recalled walking down the hallway of his elementary school and even summoning the courage one day to greet somebody from his class. However, for some reason still unknown, that boy had cast a hurried glance at him, then walked onwards. Shinichi sighed inwardly and attempted step two of the Dodging Palm Jutsu again.

She stood up finally and looked at the tree which was starting to look like a meteorite with the wholes in it. She laughed at this thought but then placed herself once more, looked at the lung in which she intended to hit and went for it, just before hitting the tree opening up her palm so that it made a tiger-like claw.

Once more she felt her hand pass through the tree's bark and finally through the tree itself. Right before impact she had placed her hand at a certain angle, and it seemed that this helped her, as she got it dead center of the drawn circle. She pulled her hand out and the bandages she put around her hand were ripped, but she didn't feel any extra dammage to her hand so she quickly tried to patch up the job while taking a few steps away from the tree. Once fixed, she took her stance before she aimed at her next target. The Liver. She ran forward at the tree and did the same with her hand this time. Making a claw with her hand and consentrating her chakra in her hand.

One more success, but he was always so close to failure. Shinichi returned to the starting place and his mind drifted back to his past life. Just like now, he still couldn't stand to be around laughter since it was directed at him most of the time. He recalled their glances, the way they always moved somewhere else when he came near. Shinichi had always loved to play games, but whenever he shyly asked to join in on the other children's games, they always found some excuse to exclude him. Once, they had been bored enough to allow him a round at chess. He had won with a checkmate too... but through lies and comradeship, they had decided that his opponent, the reigning champion had the victory. Shinichi felt that fire burn in his heart once more and all acts of retaliation suddenly felt twistedly justified. He ran at the clones, wondering why they were even there in the first place. It was almost impossible for them to even touch him, much less do damage.

He was doing well until his foot slipped and Shinichi tumbled backwards, taking some precious time to stabilise himself. At the same moment, one of the water clone's fist met his stomach and he fell, landing on the rough ground with a grunt. He could not have anticipated this, considering his agility should have been enough to avoid the clones by far. Never mind that. Shinichi pushed himself to his feet, wiping some sweat from his brow. No matter what happened, he had always moved along and now was no different! It didn't matter if this training took months, he would be there to conquer any challenge put forth. Of course, the Dodging Palm Jutsu should be well worth it in the end. Shinichi let out a yell and charged the clones, glancing up once in a while to spot that shuriken.

This time, Shinichi couldn't catch sight of that shuriken. His mind threatened to wonder back into its vast dream world, but he resisted. Hadn't that always been the case, where he would seek refuge in the intense and fantasy land of his imagination whenever society failed him? The boy often sought friends in the seemingly realistic universes he had created, where every thing happened for a reason, whether that be poisoned or rational. As a result, the masses shunned him even more and he became even more withdrawn, shy. The answers of the mysteries surrounding the beginnings of this mental torture still eluded him, and a large lump of rage built up where happiness and trust should have embedded itself. Shinichi pressed a finger to his temple, his breathing suddenly elevated. This occurred every time he thought of his past life, which was too often. He slowly opened his eyes, then repeated the training, almost procedurally.

As his breaths returned to normal, the eight-year-old glanced upwards at the shuriken and returned. He picked up a pebbled and chucked it at one of the clones, watching stolidly as it deftly dodged the stone. So, they existed only to attack and act as a barrier between him and his goal. Not only could he not vanquish them, but they had the potential, if not a small one, to make his training much more difficult. Shinichi rubbed a toe in the dust and pushed off the ground, rushing the clones to get to the shuriken.

Having successfully spotted the hidden metal, Shinichi facilely danced around the clones and turned about, staring into their emotionless eyes. Was the Kusakage-sama still controlling these clones, even though he couldn't see her anywhere? He was not adept enough at using doppelgangers to ascertain the answer to this, but it would come soon enough. Trying to focus on the situation at hand, Shinichi took a breath and ran at the clones with his usual agility.

That was perfect. No, it was simply the definition of perfection! He had slipped away from the clones so well that it was as if he were the wind. Shinichi had been able to get into a position where he could see the entire shuriken in its not so hidden blackness. Now, the question remained. Could he do this again? He bounded back to the starting place with renewed confidence and put his arms up in a fighting stance for an unknown reason. Shinichi paused, then charged the clones once more.

And this was what he deserved for his arrogance. Not only had the clones been able to catch and land punches on him, but he had also failed to spot the shuriken as a result. Shinichi let loose a brief, but loud scream of frustration. This was possible, but very unlikely. To top it off, he had very bad luck most... no, all of the time. Today was the day for miracles, but obviously none came. Shinichi sighed and made his way back, only to snap and come charging at those clones.
