This place smelled disgusting, he couldn't imagine what it tasted like. Plus, where did it come from? What if it was a trap, or poisonous, or both? He blinked when Dice noticed his fatigue and looked away in embarrassment, but looked back as the pokemon offered him food, in addition. "Um... maybe in a bit, Dice. Do you mind carrying them for me?" he asked, looking the little pokemon over carefully for any signs of illness. Maybe if they proved safe, he'd try eating some of the... swamp candy....

Gail tilted her head, looking a bit uncertain. She leaned over and sniffed at Ammy's breath, before drawing back. "Hmmm..." She still wasn't totally convinced that eating those had been safe. Ammy wasn't bothered at all as Gail sniffed at her breath, but really, she felt fine after eating those candies. She voiced her wishes for a bone tree, and it didn't occur to her at all that it would be creepy to see. At least, not until Gail mentioned it. "Huh.... I guess it would be something rather creepy, huh?" she commented, bounding along with her longer legged friend. However, she paused in wonder as Gail suggested that she dream something up. Ammy wasn't sure why she didn't think of that before, closing her eyes to try to envision something she wanted to show up.
Unfortunately, the lupup's imaginings were too big, and across their path fell a very large bone, trees creaking under its weight where they were in the way, as well as it sinking into the muddy ground. "Oops! um.... " she exclaimed, then managed to think up a much more reasonable size bone into her mouth, yet the bigger one remained. "mmet's mo!" she said to her friend, words muffled by the bone in her mouth as she moved forward to try and scrabble her way up and over the large bone in the path.

The sableye grumbled as it got back to its feet. It was going to teach that stupid dog that it picked the wrong cave to walk through. Once again it leapt to try and close in on Daemon. Meanwhile, the other sableye were cheering on the two that chose to fight the dogs. And, of course, trying to keep either dog from assisting the other.

The sableye yelled as it was chucked away by the floof dog. It just wanted the tasty shinies in its fur! The ghost hit the ground and tumbled head over heels briefly. Still, it would take more than that to keep the sableye down, and soon the strange ghost was back on its feet. It gave a loud, open-mouthed hiss before once again lunging at Samson.

What a strange place… Mystery Dungeon Who are you people? Radium, Dotty, Ai, Vivace
☆ ☆【Though most of her focus stayed on listening out for potential trouble, Piper still tuned in to the conversation among the rest of the team. The Noivern shook her head as Vivace inquired why anyone would make such an item that would cause harm to the user. ”I w-wish I knew, V-Vivie,” she said with a slight frown, ”Probably f-for the same reason th-they’d make something w-with the purpose of i-intentionally poisoning the user t-too…” She recalled meeting a certain Pokemon when she had been living at the rehabilitation home in Mossdeep with her previous trainer’s grandmother, an old, grizzly, but kind Ursaring who told her about how he had been made to hold onto a certain item that purposely caused him to become poisoned. Apparently the intent behind it had been that he had an ability that made him stronger when he was afflicted by certain conditions, but at the same time it came with the risk of him slowly succumbing to poison until he fainted. As he’d gotten older his body started to become less and less tolerant of the toxins he was intentionally subjecting himself to, and he had gotten violently sick the last time he had tried to use such a tactic in battle… Still, he’d seemed much happier in his retirement from battling, though Piper couldn’t help but wonder how or why anyone could stand to willingly subject themselves to such an awful experience like slowly being weakened by poison over and over again.
Her ears flicked over towards Ai as the Espeon answered Vivace’s question of what shade of green her coat would’ve been, describing it as a ‘bright, garish, obnoxious green’. The Noivern thought she’d picked up on a hint of disgust in the Psychic-type’s tone as she spoke. To be fair, bright green didn’t seem like too bad of a color, it conjured up images of fresh green grass and leaves kissed by sunlight in the dragon’s mind. Still, she supposed she could understand why it would be rather unappealing to some… Ai seemed amused by Dotty’s question of it being a common thing for her species, saying that she believed so but she didn’t exactly have any definitive proof to approve or deny that statement. ”I m-mean, when I was y-younger I remember s-seeing quite a f-few other Noibat in our r-roost who looked quite d-different… Their f-fur was this strange, um… bluish-green c-color with black on their ears and w-wings rather than the p-purple that’s c-common for my kind,” she chipped in, humming thoughtfully, ”N-Not really sure whether or n-not that p-particular color is actually c-common for our species in g-general, but I j-just know we tended to h-have more Noibats with the c-common purple coloring overall… Noibats l-like those other ones d-didn’t come around all th-that often…”
When Radium spoke up and brought up the color of green her ears had changed after touching that odd stone, Piper smiled warmly, it was admittedly a very nice shade of dark green. Ai agreed, saying that if it had been that kind of green her fur would’ve been upon evolving then she wouldn’t have minded it quite as much. The Noivern tilted her head slightly as the Espeon went on to answer her question, admitting that she didn’t know why she was the way she was and that she never knew what her parents looked like. ”Oh…” Piper said with a solemn frown, not quite sure of what to say as much as she wanted to know why Ai had never known her parents but refrained from pressing more on the subject in favor of adopting a more optimistic front, ”W-Well, I think p-purple suits you quite well! As c-cool as b-being a different color m-might be, I imagine there m-might also be some… um… unwanted c-consequences involved…” For one, being a radically different color would definitely make you stand out in a crowd, which could attract attention both for good and bad reasons… As curious as Piper was to possibly find out what she’d look like if she tried touching one of those colorful stones, there was no real telling how it could change your appearance…
Turning her attention up ahead, the Noivern frowned as her ears moved back and forth, listening for anything strange beyond the noises of conversation and squishing mud coming from their immediate proximity. ”I h-haven’t been able to h-hear anything so far…” she remarked, shaking her head slightly as she cast a careful glance around, ”I g-get the feeling w-we’re probably not that f-far from where the next g-guardian might be, b-but…” Surely if they were getting closer to where the next guardian might be she might have picked up on some kind of telltale sound by now, like the creepy whispering in the forest or the sinister laughter in the crystal cave. The fact that she had yet to hear anything particularly out of the ordinary set her on edge, and it certainly didn’t help that there was no way of being able to tell what else possibly lurked underneath the thick mud or among the dense thicket all around them. She wondered if Ai had had any better luck picking up on anything using her psychic senses since she’d probably be able to detect things that the Noivern couldn’t, though a part of her felt that she already knew what the answer would be if she were to ask.】☆ ☆

A new place… Mystery Dungeon Mogwai spies a new friend! Daphnes, Chickpea, Dune
☆ ☆【Mogwai felt relieved as Dune and Chickpea began to understand his intent once he explained it to them, still a little embarrassed for basically just punching a tree for seemingly no reason without informing his teammates of his plan first. The Bewear puffed up a little in pride as Dune said that it was pretty smart, quite happy to hear that kind of compliment. Though the bear tended to be slow to understand certain things and think in pretty simplistic terms, he liked to think that he wasn’t as stupid as most others tended to label him as. Still… punching the trees didn’t seem like the best means of going about it, though the Bewear didn’t exactly have any other means of making marks that would be easier. However, a thought occurred to him as he remembered the pretty, shiny leaves that Chickpea had used during their fight against the Sableye. The Chikorita appeared quite glad to help out as Mogwai proposed the idea to him, agreeing to use his leaves to help mark the trees and flinging a few at one close by to demonstrate. The bear watched with awe as the glistening pink and purple leaves flew forth and embedded themselves deep into the soggy bark, their glow visible even in the fog and darkness. Yes! Those would definitely be good for helping them find their way around even if they got lost.
Feeling glad that his idea seemed to be panning out quite well so far, Mogwai followed along with his companions as they continued down their chosen trail. The Bewear hummed as Dune spoke up, asking him and Daphnes how the two of them became knights. More than happy to answer, Mogwai hardly hesitated to answer as he gave a joyful smile. ”Moooogwaaaaaiii stiiiiill neeeeew kniiiiiight, stiiiiiill leeeeaaaarn hoooooow beeeee kniiiiight,” the Bewear answered earnestly, scratching behind an ear with his free paw, ”Siiiiire Daaaaaphneeeees teeeeaaaach Mooooogwaaaaiiii kniiiiiight’s duuuutyyyyy.” His ears flicked slightly as he thought a little more on what else to say. He wished he had some interesting stories to share with his new companions, but he didn’t exactly have any to tell from before he became a knight. Well, aside from, well… that… but Mogwai wasn’t exactly keen on sharing that particular story again after the first time he’d told it to Daphnes. ”Siiiiire Daaaaaphneeees saaaayyyy kniiiiights fiiiiight aaaaand proooooteeeect whoooo neeeeed, heeeeeelp Mooooogwaaaaiiii beeeee braaaaave aaaaand fiiiiight toooo,” he added with a nod, realizing just how much of his knowledge he owed to Daphnes, "Heeeeelp Mooooogwaaaaiiii beeeee goooood shiiieeeeeld!" The former Bagon had helped teach him some of what it meant to be a knight, and even inspired him to fight against those who would harm others in spite of the Bewear’s initial reluctance to willingly engage in combat. While he still held onto a tiny kernel of his old pacifistic beliefs that fighting was wrong, Daphnes had inspired him to be more confident and gave him the drive to fight for the sake of protecting those who couldn’t defend themselves and saving the innocent from harm. Though it was bad to hurt others, sometimes it was necessary because otherwise all the bad guys would keep hurting more and more people. Mogwai hoped he could do the same for Aiden when he finally returned to him, he just hoped his new trainer was keeping himself safe for the time being…】☆ ☆

Dotty smiled a little as Piper seemed to agree that being handed something that might hurt her would be a scary and surprising experience. Ai had even visibly suppressed a shudder at the sight of her item, so she knew it's power and harmful capabilities. She glanced to Vivace when she piped up, confused about why anyone would make an item that hurt the holder. "I-I'm not sure... Piper's right though. There's a few other orbs like it, some that cause burns, or poison. A pokemon immune to those effects could hold them and then throw them at their opponent to inflict those status effects. I'm sure this orb could be used in a similar fashion, if held by a pokemon who couldn't negate it's negative effects. In that case it has some very useful but dubious tactical effects." That just seemed to be Scarlett's style though. Dotty could hear her snidely saying that you had to take some risks to get any reward. The good news was that Scarlett never asked anything of her team that she wouldn't do herself, and Scarlett took a lot of risks. It was almost like she lived for the thrill of them...
As they discussed each other's abilities, the found out that Piper's was one that could bypass barriers like Dotty's. "O-of course! I just meant... Y-you know...!" Dotty stammered as Piper reassured her that they wouldn't be fighting. Goodness she was really bad at this. Thankfully Ai cut in with a different use of Piper's ability that would allow them to work together better, and that interpretation was far more positive.
She hummed thoughtfully as Radium suggested her trainer would have liked any green the espeon might have been. "Is that her favorite color? My trainer seems to have a fondness for black, white, and red." She wondered if there were any color pallet preferences that the trainers of her other friends had. Upon closer inspection of Radium's new fur however, it seemed she too had some dark greens in her fur. "I think it suits you very nicely." Dotty agreed, looking to Ai as she contemplated her colors. "I like your purple colors too Ai. They're soothing and elegant like you." She nodded in agreement with Piper. Though she had to agree that being so radically different in color had it's drawbacks as well. "That's true. Though in Ai's case the change is a little more subtle, so that might be the way to go. It might have been nice to just be a slightly different color of green for myself... Maybe then I wouldn't get so many stares..." Dotty mumbled.

Xiao Lan hummed contemplatively, as if debating whether or not to spare Daiki and Fianna as they cowered before her, and then decided to chase after Fianna. She delighted in their playful act. It was more fun knowing that it was all pretend and they were just having fun. She couldn't dare dream of actually hurting them. She paused from her chase so that she could pile some mud on Shade before the chengshen shook it off everywhere, but it got her thinking about ways to use the swamp in their upcoming battle.
Her initial idea was to use the mud as camouflage, but Daiki and Fianna gently declined. Aww but you could be my mud minions!" She giggled, clearly not too torn up about it. Really she just wanted an excuse to say 'mud minions'. Thankfully Fianna compromised by suggesting they make their own mud balls to throw at any guardians they found. "Yeah! Let's do that." She agreed, and began collecting up mud in her claws, packing it together to try and make it compress before testing it against a nearby tree. It hit the bark with a satisfying SPLAT, which was encouraging enough to convince Xiao Lan to make more.

It seemed odd that the eevee would be hit with a crystal shard from behind, but strangely enough, that was the only real explanation that made any sense for the eevee's sudden color change. Allure spoke up again, complimenting the eevee's colors and insisting she didn't sully her new pristine white coat with mud. Raf nodded sleepily in agreement, enjoying the light fluffy fanning of the eevee's tail. It was pleasant in this humid swamp heat. "Yeah. You look real nice in white, kid." Maybe she had ulterior motives in trying to keep the fan going, but the compliment was a genuine one.
Her focus turned to Noah though when she'd noticed their dewott companion had gone rather quiet. He was rather startled by her attention initially, which seemed uncharacteristic of him. "That didn't look like thinking." She suggested, arching a brow. He'd looked like he was having a minor crisis as he stared at the candy. In fact, he'd been so absorbed that he only just now noticed Luna's color change and how deep the mud was getting. "I dunno. At least you're a swimmer. Me? I'd definitely sink like a rock. M'too heavy for that s**t." She chuckled.
Suddenly a big a** bird flew into view, requesting that Luna hand over the flute. It nearly gave Raf a heart attack until she recognized the annoying screechy voice. "Holy s**t.... Argo? That you?" She asked incredulously. "Heh, guess you've got a big mouth now to match your voice." She couldn't help but take the opportunity to make some comment. Really there was a lot more that could have been said on the matter but given their uneasy alliance she didn't push further.

Yea, the muck was getting deep, Allure could feel her feet sinking into the muck as she moved sometimes feeling a suction cup sensation, but if there was one thing she retained from her days as a Ghoizard is the method the babysitter used to travel across the swamplands of her homeland. "Don't none of you worry. If you fall off I'll get you." Allure assured them, as best she could. After all she wasn't keen on loosing an adorable passenger or her hearty snacks either. Gazing back she did a subconsciousness check to see who was still on her back. All accounted for, save Argo. But just as she was about to look around to find the bird, a giant version of the seabird appeared, landing on her back. Raf made the connection just as quickly as Allure, this was certainly Argo. "That certainly must be him." Allure mentioned. It could prove to be a bit harder to fly around with his larger body. Perhaps she could instill this tactic when she got back to Sylva?

Following behind at a steady pace, the Shelgon found himself steadily getting behind. Luckily though the group came to a slight decline, and with a bit of moisture on the ground he managed to slide himself down the path to catch up just as the group began speaking on how they'd become knights. Mogwai explained it been Daphnes who'd taught him about knighthood, and that it meant protecting the weak. The Shelgon bobbed his body to nod. "My Trainer trained with real knights." Daphnes mentioned, once more keeping his explanation short and to the point. "She told me and my companions about them." He added once more bobbing his body as if to nod.

Speaking on items that held hazardous effects to it's holder, Radium was a bit lost. She'd never heard about any of these items, but she was also a small town mouse raised on the wilds rather than by a trainer. Whenever she could return to Eline, the mouse would try and ask about those items, Lithium could translate, so could Neon. Actually the mouse had a whole collection of things to ask Eline about now that she'd met her new friends. Dotty's odd way of speaking, Ai's colours, The items they asked about... so much things she wanted to learn about now.
Radium perked up when Ai commented the colour on Raidum's ear after the mouse had shown it off. It was a pretty colour. "Thank you, Ai." Radium replied. Though the mouse had to wonder what her siblings and parents would think.... what would Eline think? Dotty inquired if green was her trainer's favorite colour, going on to explain her own trainer's colour favoritism. "I-i'm not really that sure. I know she wears a lot of green.. She has green on her clothes, a really pretty green necklace and she even has green her eyes. " The mouse motioned towards her eye-lid, suggesting she was talking about eyeshadow or eyeliner, which Eline wore. "But her green is really bright, it reminds me of those sour fruits humans make liquid with." The mouse continued.
Swiftly the conversation trailed back into fur colour, to which Radium had to think herself. As far as she could recall, there weren't many of her species with odd coloured fur... some were perhaps a bit darker than others, but nothing to eccentric. Nothing like a complete pallet swap. Though she had seen a really odd looking Pikachu go through town just a little before Eline caught her.

At what Mogwai said, Dune stared at Daphnes in awe. Wow, so he was such a good knight he could teach others? He looked so sturdy and impressive in his new form, and now Dune realized that Sir Daphnes must be going slowly to keep an eye out behind them and protect them all from danger!
But that made Dune think, what was he contributing to their group? Chickpea could mark the trees, not to mention how he'd already brought light for all of them. And here Dune was just being carried by Mogwai. I can at least watch. Yeah, and learn from everybody else. Oh, and he'd definitely be ready, the next time they had to fight.
"Wow, r-real knights? So your t-trainer taught you how to be a knight? A-are they a knight?" Oh, that made Dune wonder. He remembered, a knight was like someone who wore armor, and used a weapon, like a sword. And they were 'chivalrous'. Which meant, like... they were nice or something.

Piper's merry chatter about other noibats made Ai smile. It was nice hearing about such a lively group of wild pokemon. And especially noibats and noivern. She glanced at Piper, who was friendly, smart, and brave, then thought of Kouvu. Would he have been like Piper, if he had grown up in a similar roost, free and surrounded by his kind? Maybe she should be a bit nicer to him, even if he did try to kill her once.
Ai tried to think. Did Arezu have a favorite color? She wasn't sure, but if she had to guess maybe black or... green. "I can't argue that not standing out too much has its perks," she said to Dotty, "I am rather glad that people don't tend to stare too much." Well, aside from little kids with their grubby little hands who always want to 'pet tha pwetty kitty!'. "I don't suppose you get bothered by strangers trying to pet you?" she asked Dotty, but then opened the question to the rest of the group.

How did I come here? Mystery Dungeon Another lost soul? Xiao Lan, Beltigre, Shade, and Daiki
☆ ☆【Fianna’s tail wagged in excitement even as she covered up her amused grin with her free hand, hiding behind Daiki as a shield for protection from the ‘swamp monster’ named Xiao Lan. When the little mud-covered Noibat proceeded to chase after her, the Braixen gave a mock squeal of fright and barely concealed amusement as she ran away from the ‘monster’ at a not very fast pace. With Xiao Lan keeping pace at her heels as Fianna ducked and weaved around the Zoroark and just barely staying out of reach, the game went on as Shade chucked a small ball of mud at the little bat before the pair proceeded to play around in the muck. Grinning with amusement as Xiao Lan piled mud on top of the Chengshen, the Braixen hardly gave any thought to how tough all of this mess would be to clean up afterwards. Still, it seemed Shade cleaned off easily enough as it shook off the mud and brushed against the Noibat before bounding forward again. Right, they should keep moving, surely they had to be making pretty steady progress even with all of their playing and faffing around. Still… it was a little hard to tell given how all the trees seemed to look alike, one clump of thicket hardly looked any different from another clump of thicket. Maybe it would’ve been a good idea to leave some kind of marker along the way, so that in case they ended up losing their way they could easily find their way back. Still, they had yet to come across any kind of dead ends… so she could only assume that they were going the right way.
Her attention was drawn to Xiao Lan as the Noibat got the idea of trying to use the environment around them to their advantage in the upcoming fight. At the suggestion of using the mud to camouflage themselves, Fianna had to agree with Daiki that it probably wouldn’t work quite as well as she thought it might. All things considered, they would probably have to fight and defeat the guardian regardless of what happened to be able to progress, so in that case camouflage would most likely be almost useless. A light laugh left her lips as Xiao Lan giggled and said that they could be her mud minions, though she hardly sounded upset or disappointed. ”Well, you’ll still be our mud mistress regardless,” she said with a grin, ”We don’t necessarily have to be covered in mud to be your minions, after all~” Really, as much as she would’ve liked to have indulged Xiao Lan, the Braixen much preferred to not get her fur any dirtier than it already was. Instead, she suggested that they could make ‘mud bombs’ and throw them at the guardian to help them get an edge in battle, demonstrating as she scooped some muck up, formed it into a ball, and tossed it at a nearby tree. Xiao Lan seemed taken with the idea, following Fianna’s example as she formed a ball of mud and threw it at another tree, the projectile making a loud ‘SPLAT’ sound as it connected with the wet bark.
”Yeah! As soon as the guardian shows up we all just pelt it in the face with our mud bombs, like WHAM!” Fianna encouraged with a grin, adding in the exaggerated sound effect for emphasis as she tossed another mud ball. The clump sailed a little higher through a tangle of branches, hitting another tree a bit more of a distance away. A soft chuckle escaped her as Daiki spoke up, remarking on how mudslinging seemed more useful. ”Well, I mean it’s probably not the best tactic, depending on what all we’re up against, but it could be useful,” she said, smirking as she playfully flicked a bit of mud that still clung to her clawed fingers at him, ”Sometimes it pays to fight a little dirty, you know~” She winked at the Zoroark with a foxish grin, making a point to lightly bump against him as she walked by to follow after Shade.
With the merriment having now passed, the eeriness of the place was almost a slap to the face as Fianna worried at her lower lip thoughtfully. ”Hmm…” she hummed with a frown, unable to help but notice how strangely silent it seemed around here. There hadn’t been any telltale signs to indicate that they were getting close to where the next guardian was yet… unlike the creepy whispering with the Drifloon and the ominous laughter with the Sableye. ”Hey Shade… Have you heard anything particularly strange at all yet?” she inquired to the Chengshen, her ears perked and flicking about to try and listen out for anything out of the ordinary, ”It seems… oddly quiet around here…” She wasn’t sure whether to be relieved or disturbed by the lack of any other noises that seemed out of place from their conversation and the squish-squashing of mud under their feet… Still, something about this place was putting her on edge, as if the very trees themselves were watching them, and Arceus knows what unknown horrors potentially dwelled unseen and undetected beneath the thick mud under their feet. It felt like her mind was making up threats where none probably were, formless shadows stalking just out of sight between the tightly woven foliage all around them, the muck pulling at her feet with each step like it was trying to suck her in… Taking a deep breath, Fianna tried to clear her mind and focus, the sooner they found where this guardian was hiding out and defeated it, the sooner they could move on. Hopefully the next floor would have a much more pleasant environment to journey through than this…】☆ ☆
