The sound of Nari's voice caused her whole world to stop... literally. The shaking stopped, the voices disappeared, and the windows began to repair themselves slowly from the beginnings of their spider-web like cracks. The young woman looked up at the face of her beloved, on her knees, tears streaming down her face uncontrollably. She had truly lost it... She had finally snapped. She was hallucinating that he was here now-- more than just the glimpses her troubled mind was giving her before. She weakly reached up, her hands trembling, to grab his hand in both of hers. It felt solid enough... Holy hell, she was so far gone.
"My mind is so cruel... making me see you now... " Her voice was a cracked whisper, like an old terracotta pot crumbling under the years. Her vision was blurred with tears and pain, her heart cracking. "It's been so long... I almost forgot what you've looked like... And now, my mind brings you back with such clarity..." She brought his hand to her cheek, lightly nuzzling her face against it, a soft sob breaking from her lips. "Am I really that ********...? Am I really that far gone...?" Stage One:

Stage Two:

Sand techniques used from within a meter of the host become a rank stronger. Sand manipulation range now increases to 45 meters. Supreme Fortitude boost. Sand being manipulated is no longer capable of being turned into anything else by the effects of other elements or ninjutsu. Moderate Strength Boost.
Sabaku Fuyuu [ Desert Suspension ] Rank: C Description: The user will place Chakra-infused sand beneath their feet, molding it into a platform. Manipulating this sand, the user can then hover up to 3 meters off the ground. Lasts for three posts, but can be sustained with 10 Chakra upkeep for each post beyond that.

Threading his chakra into his arms to help him shift himself out of the rubble. He was the last of the three of them to extricate themselves from the now ruined academy. He could hear the sounds of fighting but it seemed dim compared to the sound of blood thrumming through his ears. Everything seemed blurry to his vision, which was odd. He blinked, trying to bring the world back into focus. He winced as he got up, pain shooting out of his side. He stumbled forward, hearing sobs ahead of him. His vision focused and he saw Emiko sobbing over what looked like... It couldn't be! His mind warred with what his eyes were telling him. The Uzukage laid dead on the academy floor. Something in him cracked in that instant. Was Uzushiogakure so weak that it could be attacked and its leader, the supposed strongest member killed so casually? He noticed then the form of Plague, tugging at Emiko's sleeve. While Emiko looked unharmed, Plague didn't look so lucky, her body was covered in cuts, scratches, and bruises and her clothing had been reduced to a tattered veil cloaking her. Even her braids had come undone, her hair in a wave of unruly wildness atypical of the quiet girl.
He had to get them away from here. That was the only thought that seemed to crystallize amidst the chaos of his mind. This was a battle zone where a kage had fallen. It was no place for them, they would only hamper what little fight Uzushio could still offer. He stumbled forward. He had to save Plague. At this moment, Shuu wasn't even considering the possibility of other students that could be trapped under the rubble. Get Plague out. There wasn't going to be a safe easy extraction of others from the ruins of the academy. In all likelihood they'd be killed by the attackers if they even tried to save others. He fell to one knee as another jolt of pain in his side grabbed his attention. Only then did he notice that he was bleeding... badly. Fine.
He pushed himself up, no time to be lollygagging. He had to get them out. It's what would be expected of the Uzumaki scion his duty in the light of what had occurred. He hated that set of expectations. He hated his clan in that instant. why push him so hard if they were nowhere to be found when the village they were so proud of was attacked. What good was all that pressure and demand of his performance if they themselves did nothing. WHERE WERE THEY?!
No... it didn't matter. Plague had likely lost her book, Emiko wouldn't be able to understand the quiet movements and the breadth of language hidden in Plague's subtle clues. Few could read the girl, Shuu counted himself among those few. If nothing else, Plague needed him now. Each step just flared up more pain on his side, and he thought that maybe he now felt the wetness of his blood running down his side.βNo time for this...βhe muttered to himself. She did at least wait for the woman to finish her sentence before paralyzation took effect and a a hand slithered it's way up to grip around tightly around her throat. Well that was a bit of a disappointment I excepted something more fierce."Oh I'm not sure I understand? You have organized villages and yet.. it sounds like you've just gone and made you're own? Come to think of it I find myself not really caring. All that matters is you want to destroy this place and I can't let you because this place is all my love cares about." Letting out a calm sigh Ferrah stood unmoving in all her smug glory before she, Kagami, and the entire area was blanketed in a massive amount of fog. Standing besides Ferrah were now two figures, the first being the obviously hardest to miss considering he was a bijuu sized gargoyle peering disapprovingly over the battlefield, the second was a much smaller but jaw droppingly curvy moth woman who had taken it upon herself to drape over Ferrah's shoulder. Motioning at Kagami who was currently still being suffocated under the shadow paralysis jutsu Ferrah commanded. "Caine if you please get this trash out of MY village."
Unfolding his giant stone arms the gargoyle reached down to collapse his hand around the woman in a manner that would keep her hands stuck at her sides. "We will discuss this at another time. Ferrah." His words were like two boulders rubbing together and were especially pointed at his 'summoner' but he carried out the request regardless. She smirked even in her choking as the creature threw the useless plank of wood away. She formed a hand sign while she endured the choking but somewhat enjoyed it even at this moment. Kagami was impressed that Lahlil was less like the brutish Chie merely throwing furniture and rocks at her. She had a fighting style that Kagami actually respected. Suddenly, a massive tidal wave would erupt from where Kagami stood which was where the plywood was earlier. The water would completely flood and devastate the area and hopefully finish off Lahlil as well. Her desire was to wash away Lahlil, any of the surviving opposition, and any corpses that were left around. Kagami was quickly growing exhausted and felt confident that this technique would end them all. She was standing close to Obei and merely turned her head and quietly indicated that it was time to go. Kagami immediately body flickered out of the area and to a place of safety to watch the destruction of the entire village unfold. Any remaining water mirrors would shatter and dissolve with her exit. Her task was done here at last.

"Sonyo... things are getting serious out there..." Shu's grumble echoed to her from across the space... her duty was calling her back, and Nari's words had relit the fire in her that had long gone out. She didn't want to say goodbye though, she didn't want to let him go; but she had to. She closed her eyes as Nari's lips pressed against her forehead, savoring the feeling for just a moment before coming back to reality.... To an absolute shitshow. A blonde she could swear she faintly remembered was now talking to Kagami, as if... she was surrendering? Goddammit. Sonyo pulled all the sand to her that she could, all the sand from the surrounding oceans and lakes and even the sand that was currently floating about half a dozen genin in the air-- after gently setting them down of course.
Sonyo was aiming to surround and perhaps even crush both the females in front of her, but upon the sudden disappearance of Kagami sent her nerves on fire. Suddenly Sonyo looked more bestial, more serious. The azure markings that showed between the bits of fabric that made up her hakama began to glow as she tapped further in to Shukaku's chakra. She would not fail Uzu like she failed Suna! She could do this! Sand quickly whipped around, forming a huge concave wall around Lahlil and the surrounding area-- she couldn't save the whole village but she was hoping she could at least save some of it, to give these people some hope.
If she was successful, the tidal wave would hit the several hundred meter big wall and be canceled out due to the chakra denseness of the construct, the rest of the water either going upwards in to the air, or going off to the sides. The giant sand wall would block most of the attack, but the portion behind where Kagami stood would be left unprotected and Lahlil would be trapped on the other side. However, Sonyo hoped the woman could take care of herself-- she had seen her fly moments ago after all. Once she was done, Sonyo would be left panting, exhausted, barely still floating on her own little cloud. "Take... that... hah..."

Stage One:
Can make formless sand attacks using the demon's chakra at your direction within 15 meters, once per post. Able to use one activation per post to convert non-ninjutsu based stone into sand. Limited to human sized boulders. Host can collect small sand patches on their body to absorb up to D-Rank physical damage. Costs 5 Chakra per patch.
Stage Two:
Capable of making a supplemental action to convert more sand from nearby stones and rocks. Allows your ability to manipulate sand to increase its range from 15 to 30 meters around the host. Techniques can originate from any mass of sand the host is within range of, as well as sand based formless attacks that can be anything from hands attempting to strike to waves of sand being moved as a wave are capable. Maximum size these can be are the size of a house regardless of rank put in. Sand attacks are considered to be one rank faster, requiring greater expenditures of chakra to escape them using the dodge system. Fortitude is increased greatly.
Stage three:
Sand techniques used from within a meter of the host become a rank stronger. Sand manipulation range now increases to 45 meters. Supreme Fortitude boost. Sand being manipulated is no longer capable of being turned into anything else by the effects of other elements or ninjutsu. Moderate Strength Boost.
Stage Four:
Sand manipulation range increased to 60 meters. Physical strength and fortitude both supremely increased. Heavy Armor is maintained. Sand techniques become denser, packed more heavily with chakra to make it overwhelm same ranked techniques. Sand techniques used within a meter of the host become a rank stronger. Gains the ability to cast one sand technique per post without an activation, so long as Shukkaku uses it's chakra to fuel it.
Stage Five:
Fortitude and strength both supremely+moderately increased. Sand techniques used within 2 meters of the host become a rank stronger and still overwhelm techniques of the same rank. At the host's discretion, all defensive techniques, including sand techniques, are increased in strength by a rank. Stacks with other boosts to sand jutsu as well. After a defensive technique is bolstered by this passive, all bonuses to techniques from the demon itself are cancelled for two posts.
Suna Soushi no Jutsu [ Sand Creation Technique ] x2, paid once by Shukaku Rank: D Description: The process of breaking down earth and other such materials into sand for storage or other techniques. Sabaku Fuyuu [ Desert Suspension ] Rank: C Description: The user will place Chakra-infused sand beneath their feet, molding it into a platform. Manipulating this sand, the user can then hover up to 3 meters off the ground. Lasts for three posts, but can be sustained with 10 Chakra upkeep for each post beyond that.

tabit was clear that she had overextended her mental capacity when the lightheartedness started swimming at her vision. Again? N-no not yet I just need to do this.. Biting her lip in concentration Ferrah called forth a wave of earth of debris forth to meet the wave. Their forces colliding in an destructive clash that met that consumed both them and parts of the surrounding area. Thankfully she didn't have to worry much about collateral damage as Sonyo's sand wall had formed on the other side to prevent damage to the other half of the village. Sandwiched between the both of them the water dissipated easily. With this final act Ferrah felt herself drift off into the aybss.
Light looking through a bright light Lahlil forced her eyes open only be greeted with the destroyed grounds around her. It was sorta confusing at first wasn't this supposed to be the academy after all? And that is when it all started to come back. Chie's death at the hands of that woman, the state of emergency, but.. also fighting? Sort of like a ghost watching another version of herself fight with.. Kagami? But that wan't right at all she didn't recall doing any of that! That is when a pair of soft hands slithered across her chest to pull her into a little peck on the cheek. To which Lahlil was ready to protest with bright red embarrassment but slowly relaxed when she was met with Celeste's kind face. "I believe they're waiting for you dear." Confusion must have been clear on her face because the moth woman turned her head so that she could really look at the devastation that was around her. The genin seemed to all be safe in the air on clouds of sand but there was many buildings and civilians who were only just now climbing from the wreckage, and that is when Lahlil understood. She didn't have time to be sad because right now these people were just like how she was for most of her life.
Wiping her eyes with the palm of her hands Lahlil nodded to her friend and walked over to tap on Caine's massive rocky foot. "Uhm.. Caine?" Stern face bending faaaar down low to meet hers, the gargoyle expression was much more softened now that the fight was over and Lahlil seemed to be back in her right state of mind. "Could you help me? ...Please?" Her receive response was a puff of smoke from his nostrils which was as good as a yes from him. Great body molding into the earth the bat king started shifting the earth int he area back to a flat equalized zone. The damage was too far gone to repair the building but nothing could be fixed without a proper foundation. Lahlil of course had no intention to let him do all the work however, summoning hundreds of clones within the area she sent them all out at once to search not only the area but the entire village for those injured during the fighting, each clone held within it enough chakra to create a blanket of calming emotions meant to uplift the wave of oppression Kagami had left in her wake.
After all of this was going on the vortex, or what Lahlil assumed remained of it, funneled into the area with the lead standing at attention before her. "Is there any injured?" The words invoked a strange feeling in her that they would even bother coming to her when they were the same rank. "There and there are the worst right now. If some of you can go throughout the other areas and send survivors here to be assigned I'd appreciate it." Words so close to a command felt foreign on her lips and yet.. they just listened to her without so much as a single question! A little tingle went down her spine and suddenly she surprisingly she found herself feeling elated. Turning to the sandwall the still stood floating in the air and with a genjutsu enhanced voice spoke over the entire area. "The same goes for any of you. We need medical specialists down here and volunteers to help clean up this mess."
While she was waiting for genin to report in, the thought of Karuto came rushing to her mind oddly enough. She hadn't recalled seeing him in the battle which was odd considering his usual readiness to face any threat to the village. "Hey!" Grabbing the poor man by the sleeve from the chaos that were the repairs. "Do you know where Kaurto is?""I believe he was sent off on a mission. I can tell Maruke to send for him if you need?" Lahlil nodded and the man was off. In a way she was little relieved to know he hadn't been here, she wasn't sure if that she could take another friend dying today.

The girl before her began to sway slightly causing Plague to ignore the blue haired woman before them and move forward quickly to catch her. She carefully placed the unconscious girl to the ground to avoid any further injury to herself. Not knowing what else to do Plague simply glanced up at the chaos before her. As the fog lifted Plague could begin to make out other figures, but didn't recognize most of people. Her mouth stayed close as the words of the woman sunk in. She couldn't possibly understand this woman's way of thinking. Looking up at the woman Plague remained quiet, trying to make sense of what she had spoken. It seemed she was dead set on ending the ways of shinobi everywhere. Plague had only wanted to become a shinobi to further her pursuit in the medical fields. For the sake of those she held dear. Her mother had done the same and her father, who had never attended an academy, had encouraged it even. It seemed impossible for Plague to comprehend that some one would have such a vendetta against the ways of shinobi that he or she would resort to utterly destroying an entire village. Even to the point of attacking the students directly. Plague's mouth moved as if she had something to say, but she was saved from making a mistake as the attacker moved back into the foggier area presumably to return to the fight.
Plague let out a shuddering breath, not having realized that she had been holding it in anyways. On her knees now Plague was at a complete loss of what to do. There was nothing she could do. Any kind of movement may result in getting attention to drawn to herself and those around her. Another female voice drifted to Plague's ears making her tense up ever so slightly. It didn't sound like the second woman new the scary blue haired one, but Plague didn't recognize the voice anyways. As her mind tried to make sense of what to do next a hand to her shoulder cause the young girl to flinch. Whipping her head around she was greeted to the welcoming sight of blue eyes and a mop of unruly red hair. Shuu Uzumaki had finally dug his way out of whatever rock he had been buried under. Plague almost let out an audible sigh of relief, but it was cut short as she began to take in the boys condition. He had mentioned the need to run away, but his voice seemed shallow and the tone voice obviously held pain in it. Her hidden eyes immediately found the source of her friend's pain. Blood was flowing freely from a wound at his side.
Anything else that happened around her was of zero concern for Plague the moment she saw the blood. Plague turned fully to face Shuu, hands instantly moving to his side. Afraid to touch the open wound and cause more damage. Vigorously she shook her head to answer him, fraying the delicate and tattered material of her veil even more. An unmistakable no. While she agreed that they both needed to leave there was no way she could allow him to move anymore than necessary. He shouldn't be moving with a wound like that. It was probably sheer will that he was even conscious right now. To show her concern even more Plague gestured quickly to Shuu, his wound, and made a wave like gesture with her right hand to signal that he needed stitches at the very least. Before he had a chance to refuse the idea Plague brought out her medical kit. She hadn't learned any medical jutsu yet, but stitching? Stitching was in her blood. It would probably be painful, but it would staunch the blood until a proper doctor could be found. At the thought of staunching the blood however Plague's left hand went up to the veil on her head. There was little need for it, it was merely a source of comfort for her, and with the state it was currently in it would be better suited for a makeshift bandage. She removed the dark fabric from her head and gently placed with shaking hand against the wound. Again, without waiting for consent from Shuu. She wouldn't have had it anyways. Her one goal was to keep Shuu alive at any cost. It was her job. The one she took seriously enough to show any kind of emotion towards. Somewhere behind her Plague was vaguely aware of the other people still around, but she was completely oblivious to her surroundings as she tended to Shuu's wound.

ββ Village: Uzushio || Rank: Student || Classes: Sealer & Performer βββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββββ Frankly, it was impressive that Shuu could read so much from Plagueβs gestures. She had turned when he had reached her, flinching even when his hand had touched her shoulder. At first, he had seen the relief in her eyes. Though it was quickly chased away when she actually took in how bad he looked. Of course, he had a building collapse on him, understandable that he was a little banged up. Heβd be fineβ¦ probably. He had to get Plague out of there though, before it was too late. Plague eyes had narrowed almost immediately as she noticed his condition. Already he could see the mounting resistance as the medic in her started to take over.
He knew even before she shook her head that she would. A vigorous and unmistakable denial of his request. She was warring though, internally that is. She knew, knew they couldnβt stay, they needed to leave. But Shuu knew that look, the medic was weighing that necessity against his wounds. She deduced that he likely wouldnβt make it very far if he tried to insist on moving. Curse her for being well-trained in diagnostics. She quickly insisted on stitches, taking out a medkit before he could even voice an argument. Plague didnβt know any just but she could suture with the best of them. That didnβt mean he had to like itβ¦ stitches like the ones heβd need would hurt even in the best of circumstances, which were not the ones he was currently in.
Seeing as she wouldnβt move, Shuu finally felt his legs give away to his pain and exhaustion. He collapsed onto the floor, wincing as he hit the ground. Plague had been distracted, her hand reaching to grab what was left of her veil. She tugged it off and placed it against his side, to staunch the flow of blood. Shuu felt her hand shake as she did. It killed him. She never did ask for consent when she was in medic mode. Actually an annoying habit to be honest. What would happen if she went into medic mode during a mission. He wasnβt worth the mission, or even the attention she often gave him. That hyper-focus that often left her oblivious to her surroundings.βIβve already cost you the jacket, donβt waste the veil on me. Get yourself out of here Plagueβ¦ you donβt owe me anything.β
Shuu hoped she would just go. That way he could have kept her safe. She didnβt even seem to realize he had spoken. He pushed her hands away from his side, using his own hand to keep the veil in place as he wrapped his other arm around the girl in a hug. Making sure her head was resting against his shoulder, the one where he wasnβt bleeding.βI donβt know why you stick around me Plague, I swear I donβt cause you anything but trouble.βHis hug tightened, what he hadnβt said was that she was wasting her time with the hopeless fraud that he was. His clan saw him as a bright hope for their clan, but he never felt that he had some clear path or journey to guide them. He excelled but it wasnβt enough, not really. They always wanted more. One day, they would ask for too much; on that dayβ¦ it might be Plague who paid the price. Plague merely shook her head once again at Shuu's complaint. The coat had been one thing, but the veil was trivial. If she had to do it all over again she would have done it the same way anyways. To her treating an injury was more important than anything else. She knew Shuu wouldn't like being treated right then and there. He had already voiced those concerns. A part of her agreed, but the bigger medical part of her squashed any argument in her mind. Shuu didn't owe her anything. It was his family and partly her own as well. Her parents were the hired physicians of Shuu's clan. When her parents left however the task of looking after Shuu was put to her. It was her mission to look after Shuu. Nothing else came before him. Whether or not she got injured was a trivial matter to herself. She had a sturdy body, she knew that. It would take a lot to keep her from protecting Shuu, or anyone else for that matter. And she would look after him until that sturdiness failed her.
As he shifted slightly he moved her hands away from the makeshift bandage. As she was about to protest any sort of moment as it could worsen the wound, Plague found herself in a hug. Under normal circumstances that could have possibly ended before it started as Plague would have left the area as soon as the thought entered Shuu's head. She wasn't one to show a lot of affection towards people. And most people just found her creepy and wouldn't have dared to so anyways. However, Plague found that this time it was much appreciated. Although she would have much preferred it to happen after stitching up that injury. For the moment though she was partially surprised by the sudden embrace It took her a brief moment to react at all towards it. She took in his words after he spoke them.
Shuu was someone with exceptional skills from an exceptional family. He was literally a shinning star for the Uzumaki clan and they tried their best to make him bend to their will. Since she had known him he had always been rebellious towards his family. It was a stark contrast to her own self who was perfectly content with doing whatever her parents asked her too. Then again Plague only had her parents. One of which wasn't even a shinobi. She was happy to be of use to them, but could also never picture herself going against them even if she knew it was wrong. The way Shuu acted towards the Uzumaki however intrigued Plague to no end. It was the part of him that Plague wished she could do as well. It was her own shinning star to look up too. Shifting slightly and carefully, Plague returned the embrace. Gently wrapping one hand around Shuu so not to injury him further. She stayed like that for a second before pulling about with a gentle look about her usually expressionless face. She reached back to his wound, moved his hand away, took away the now totally ruined veil, and stuck Shuu with a needle as she began sewing up his injury. Plague's stitching skills were almost as good as a well trained medical ninjas. Her bedside manners however lacked. Severely.
Any shaking she had previously was gone as she confidently worked on patching her childhood friend up. Treating an injury was something Plague knew how to do. Even if it meant blocking out the rest of the world to focus on it. It was a bad habit, she knew that. She was only student however and couldn't be expected to know how to do everything at once. Once she was content that stitches would at least hold until she could get Shuu a proper doctor Plague shifted slightly away from Shuu to give her some room to write. In front of Shuu, in the dirt Plague spelled out "Cause all the trouble you want. I will patch you up." A simple message that held a lot of meaning. It was that part of Shuu that Plague admired most. As long as she could be there to patch him up Plague was content. To an extent of course. Plague didn't want Shuu to look like a patchwork doll. She hesitated for a moment before adding "Don't worry about the coat and veil." As long as she had her mask it was okay. Probably.
