Lenore winced as the adrenaline from saving so many people wore off and she was again reminded of the trampling that occurred while she was unconscious. She gave the two a small nod. "Yeah, uh, no problem. Thanks for helping out with getting the others out, by the way." She turned to the other members of Preteen Girl Plus Fancy Hat Lady And Also The Rock Squad and smiled softly. "All of you."

The demanding throbbing of his head was the first thing Nik felt upon reclaiming consciousness. With a wince he slowly lifted a hand to his head and probed his scalp delicately with his fingers, stopping only when he felt a small wet spot. Pulling his hand away he observed the blood on his fingers and palms, mentally making a note about how much blood he had shed on this particular day before pushing himself slowly to his knees. Initially he felt dizzy but after a moment he was able to compose himself enough to bring himself to his feet.

Insanity had broken out all around him as people scurried this way and that to avoid being trampled by horses or injured by other humans. His eyes darted over to the barge that had started all of this and he frowned upon seeing that the majority of security was there protecting the wealthy and ignoring those in need. It likely wasn't their decision, but going against the wishes of the nobles always resulted in a loss of some kind. His desire to walk over and punch one of his own people out was curbed when screams cut through his anger and he realized he would be of more use helping the others than fantasizing about shaming one of his own.

Alec sighed softly nodding again muttering his thanks to her one more time. "Its..no big deal. I don't want anyone to get too hurt." he said quietly adjusting Ashley onto his hip so he could easily walk with her. "You did really good too." He encouraged of the now exhausted Lenore. "I owe you." he spoke softly, almost hard to hear above the chaos. He swore he heard Lenore say her leg hurt, he'd bring her something nice from his family store if she wanted..anything really. She's saved his sister for god sakes.

He was so over this Parade, it had been fun but this was just nuts. It would be a long time before he'd want to attend another one. That was for damn sure.

He spied a familiar face, having gotten knocked out in the chaos. As per-usual Nik was quick to recover. "'scuse me a moment." he said politely to Lenore, casting her one more look more glance before walking over and toeing his boot at the older boy.

"oi. ya need to be more careful Nikky.." he looked concerned even if the other was awake again, gently again toeing him with his boot in a light tap to the leg.

His adrenaline was coursing quickly through his entire body as his eyes attempted to come to grips with the chaos around him. The aching of his head dulled but he knew that the pain would be back once he calmed down. However, that did not stop him from jumping at the sound of Alec's voice or the sensation of being touched.

Turning to look at the red head he released a sigh of relief and placed his elbow on the much shorter boy's shoulder to provide him with a suitable leaning post. "This day just keeps getting better..." He mumbled. "Are parades generally this hazardous?" He enquired, attempting to stick with his usual humor.

Shakuntala could only remain a witness to the events played out before her. A myriad of individuals stepped forward and rescued the lives of several others by bravely hauling them up from the canal below. She frowned a bit to herself at her own cowardice and inability to do much. Why? Why couldn't she step up to the plate like these people? But more than anything, why is it that when she tried, she ended up becoming the victim?

The girl pursed her lips and took the brunt of this realization a bit too hard. She almost felt like giving up until she felt the nudge of a small head on the side of her thigh. Turning her attention towards the contact, she noticed the young feline that hadn't left her side since she pulled up the basket from the water below. She reached down it to and the kitten batted at her hand cutely. This provoked a smile from the seventeen year old.

Well, at least she saved one life.

"That's all right..." Zin said, starting to brighten up. "I'm sure it will be explained once the people in charge get organized again. Hey, at least this parade won't be forgettable, right?" She forced a laugh, but it died quickly; even she knew that that had been a bad joke.

She sighed. "I guess all we can do is wait, and make sure no one else goes in the canal," she admitted. "I'm supposed to take charge in situations like these, but I don't know what to do..." It seemed that even Zin could have doubts. Her quick smile returned, however, and she remained optimistic. "It'll be fine," she asserted positively.

He executed a halfhearted nod of his head as he agreed with Alec’s accurate description of the parade. His gaze lingered a moment on the Utopia float, the irony of the nobles once more acting as a destructive force in the lives of those beneath them not escaping him. With a small grunt he lifted his hand once more to his head but this time pulled it away with no fresh blood, at least it had stopped. Another voice, much younger than Alec’s drew his attention and he removed his elbow from Alec so that he may stand up straight.

A dainty and adorable young girl was staring up at him after exchanging a few words with Alec. He could tell they were related and he vaguely remembered meeting Alec’s mother so he assumed she was his little sister. “Hello there.” He said politely. Alec’s words about her being pushed into the canal came back to him and he once again found himself resenting the nobles. Bending so that he was at her level in her brother’s arms he smiled. “I am Nik, and what is your name?”

Turning back to look at Alec with a mischievous grin and a wink he continued. “We know who got all of the looks in your family.”
