Even with Milo's reassurance, or attempt too, Noemi's sobbing hitched and continued, burrowing her face in her knee's even with the odd funk covering it. It didn't matter anyways, they were in quartentine. They were...she had seen this once in the movies. Zombie ones her dad would watch at night when she was suppose to be asleep. they would quartentine and then kill all the infected.

Barely here for more then a month and she was infected with something and they were going to kill her.

"I...I'm sorry Milo..." she made out in between her sobs, "Hice este desastre y ahora estás aquí también y lo siento.." She started again in english. "They are going to kill us here si? Because we are infected. That's what they do in movies. I am not strong enough, so they will kill me." She burrowed her face again. "I am not strong enough."

She barely heard Stormy's words but she had, her sobs were muffled to not upset her cousin if she could. She still had yet to talk to her but she knew....

The Moon Hunter in sharply whistled, her team quick, trained, fast. At the Sahara, to have a specialization focused in the Sahara, a single lapse was another mistake in a sea of greater problems. "That's the last of them, we're moving to base sixteen. Let them know this place is cleared."

The barrier around the quarantined flared to life, and then cut thirty foot straight upwards. It formed an electric, impenetrable wall.

The Sahara recovery team was gone, and though the tent was still positioned with the weapons tablets compiled, all signs of first aid and necessity were also gone. The portal had disappeared, leaving those in quarantine stuck in the barricaded area.

The wait was excruciating. The torrential sand had stopped at least, and the wind was mild. The sun however, was unforgiving, hot and dry, every moment a reminder of their skin peeling away. Occasionally they could feel something underneath their feet, writhing in the sand, it felt like tiny insect appendages, but it was never visible, just borderline possible.

Time continued forwards. It was slow. At this point leaving the barricade to find shelter at the tent would have been ideal.

Time continued forwards in a trickle. It was painful. The wind had picked up again, at some point, battering against the barrier but thankfully not harming those inside. The landscape changed with the wind, slopes of sand forming and reforming. The wind continued to pick up.

There were voices now, but it was hard to discern them through the sandstorm. It felt like listening to someone through a terrible phone reception, it felt like listening to someone from a distance, like watching them in an isolated glass. Figures, a few of them. Shouting. Through the blur of sand they could be seen taking the tablets, dismantling the tent and moving back into the portal. One figure stopped, right in front of the quarantined Hunters. They turned to someone else, shouting loudly through the storm.

"What........... them?"

The second figure gestured. "Leave...for....."

More shouting.

When the sandstorm finished they were gone as well.

The sun was descending by the time another set of Hunters appeared. One of them was familiar to all, the Death assistant, actually, unsurprisingly, not dead. The other was familiar to some, though his prolific reputation as the Death lead continued to precede him.

"-The titan moved," Mark argued, still pressing an ice pack against his the side of his head. "We blew it up from the inside, besides I don't see like-"

- Everything shook as the sand erupted around the two new arrivals, a terrible mass of appendages covered in thousands and thousands of incisors -

- that immediately burst into flames, shrieking and writhing, an ear-wrenching noise as limbs dissolved into thousands of insects and then thousands more. In the shriveled remains there was a something, it was glowing a deep red, it looked like-

- "Hang on!" Mark boggled. "There's still like, there's survivors. He waddled over and then hesitantly stopped at the barrier. And then paused. "Oh man. Did you guys like, see my Axe body spray or something? That stuff is like, really expensive-"

- "Mark, disable the ******** barrier."

-"and I am disabling the barrier." the Death assistant repeated, just as his lead took whatever it was he was most likely actually looking for and placed it in a simple glass container. It clinked.

"Hang on." Mark paused, having already deactivated the quarantine zone. "Why are we disabling the barrier? Should I like uh, get someone to come and um, check on them, and like-"

- Caelius took one look at the quarantined group of Hunters and really did not seem that impressed. He tossed something at Mark. Mark stared at the device in his hands. It started beeping. He blinked. It was still beeping. "Oh SHI-"

He threw it, just as it burst into flames, the Death assistant managing to avoid most of the damage that caught everything close to it on fire. Including the quarantined. Especially the quarantined.

The flames were blue, and unforgiving. The second they hit, the second they spread along the sand and consumed every single trainee, every single Hunter in sight, it felt like agony. It felt like their skin melted, their flesh folding, their vision searing and whiting out. Some involuntarily screamed, and their limbs twitched along the flames, they couldn't help it, all they could do was react.

((OOC: this part involves insects/ centipedes, please skip if you need!))
The next part was even worse for those who had been assigned to quarantine. Their skin began to peel. It began to peel and shrivel and turn black inside the flames, and it felt like it was coming apart into bits and pieces to reveal raw flesh underneath. From their flesh underneath, squirmed black long insects, fear-infused milipedes, that had buried into their skin and were slowly being forced out by the flames. They dropped to the ground in tens, hundreds, the fell from within their skin, and they screamed and hissed with large open, gaping mouths full of wide round teeth.

The flames stopped. It had only been mere seconds. Someone was shouting at them but it was hard to hear. Only a few would remain standing before blacking out entirely, before they saw the two disappear back into the portal.

*

All Hunters would wake up at the life labs hospital. They were suffering second and third degree burns to most exposed regions of their skin. It burned, it hurt like nothing. A Moon or Life Hunter would occasionally stop by and stare at them in pity, offering salve or changing their bandages. Someone would try to soothe the younger trainees.

It would be days before they were healed, and would day a few days longer to fully recover.

OOC: THE CONCLUSION OF SUFFERING

CONGRATS EVERYONE THAT REMAINED YOU SORT OF GOT BURNED ALIVE!
- It will take FULL HUNTERS 3 days to recover, INTERMEDIATE 5, TRAINEE 7 days. That's a FULL recovery. Full Hunters can leave the hospital in 1 day, intermediate 2, trainee 3. There are no burn scars thankfully.
- Feel free to take advantage of this time for some hospital RPs and visits
- Also the burns are quite painful so try not to touch them. You also look terrible, but thankfully you are covered in bandages. IN some countries, mummy couture is very exciting!
- All rpers get + 2 rp points for participating and another +2 if you went over 800 words! Thanks again guys!
