The final ascent.
Raumias ran as fast as she could, hostering her pistols before she even started, this time. She tripped as soon as she started, though, and scraped her hands across the hot metal.
It stung, but it was no worse than the room in the cold had been.

Okay, so she couldn't flip up something.
Lesson learned. Lesson learned by being blown up by a very angry metal exploding thing-- wow, she was going to do this smarter now.
Apparently at some point she'd just gotten stupidly self-confident.

Raum clasped her hands in front of her briefly, and mapped out the course she thought would be best before running again. She hadn't calculated all the angles, though, and went sprawling again, cutting herself on some more metal.

It was actually kind of making her mad that she wasn't able to climb it, this time-- she'd done so twice before now, with almost no trouble at all. What the hell was wrong tonight?

USE YOUR ANGER AS A TOOL.
Anger was a terrible tool, and raumias died, the end. It was like bringing a soggy biscuit to a duel-- Raumias lost, because her life was the biscuit, and the tower was some evil genius.
[[This is punishment for not doing my task first, isn't it, life.]]
The tall figure adjusted the odd pendant around his neck, stepping into the blazing hot area. He wiped the sweat off his brow, amazed at how quickly the perspiration had began.
Attempting some exploration, he found out quite quickly how lethal the area was. Flaming swords, fireballs, and even a flaming shock wave assaulted him as he trekked through the area, leaving him with scorch marks and burns.
Not fun.

Moving into the next room, all perspiration was immediately gone. He was shivering now, red core softening to a lighter pink. He look for the offending cold air maker, and found a massive fan. Glaring at it, he realized he'd need to stop the thing to even make it through the room.
Picking up some debris, he chucked a piece in hopes of stopping the large blades. It only bounced back, producing a large gash across his face.

Not one to be beaten by an inanimate object, Axel hefted up another piece of debris onto his shoulders. He waited, watching the fan blades rotate and rotate, waiting and waiting. He watched the timing, and when it was finally right, he threw.
It stuck! With a little smile and a fistpump, Axel went on through to the next area.

The Ruins were comfortable; World's Edge was peaceful.
The Spire was hell.
He hesitated at the end of the tunnel, closing his eyes and taking in several deep, hard breaths.
The full-fledged sprint through the area didn't help him dodge anything. If anything, it seemed to go worse than last time. He was knocked to and fro as haplessly as if he were a wren caught in a hurricane, and clutched his painful ribs when he stumbled ********, ********, goddammit, worst ******** caught his breath in the space between rooms, remembering grimly that the next was the fan. This place was terrible.

The next room held...something. It was something that he could climb, and he felt a pull inside himself to climb it. A gentle nudge from his core, telling him that something was waiting for him up there.
Ignoring the gash on his face and deftly climbing up the generator like tower, dodging jets of steam and explosions and things that might catch the feet of other explorers.
Finally getting to the top, he found three pulsing red orbs - blessings! He reached out to the first one, grasping it and drawing it to his heart. A warmth overcame him, his wounds were healed, and he was off to explore more of the world he'd reign.

Not this again. Jesus.
He refused to go through the numb, aching task of trying to dismantle the thing again. Scooping up a random piece of metal that he had to juggle to keep it from burning his fingers, he flung it as hard as he could. It caught in the blades and for an instant he hoped--
--but then it shot back at him with a sharp noise and knocked him back so hard it pushed the air out of his lungs.
"I hate this place," he whispered to himself. "I hate. This. Place."
