Sylas had actually stuck the bird's head halfway into his mouth when it decided to stop being a jerk and hop into its cage, where it just stood there and looked at him until Sylas latched the door.

Sylas rattled the cage as he walked away from the booth, uncharacteristically pleased by the bird's chirps of alarm. He thought he heard the cage door swing open, but fortunately, it wasn't his problem anymore.
