Fayn looked at Bridget once. Did she somehow anticipate that she was bringing her bread and meat and some other stuff? "You really make eating look like acting.." The guardian sighed, shaking her head. To her, food was just a necessity of daily life, not really something to enjoy much.

((Since nobody else has responded in Team 4 I'm going to go ahead.))
The quartet of Corps. members continued following the path within the forest for some time. They had lost sight of the the village roughly a half an hour ago and had still seen no sign of the insect fiend other than the path carved out of the trees. William suddenly held a hand up in a fist, the signal to halt, and stopped where he was. "You guys hear that?" He whispered. "I can't hear any birds or animals anymore." He reached down and placed his crossed hands on his sword hilts. Almost as soon as his hands touched the swords there was a crashing sound and a tree fell across the path behind them. Leaping over the felled tree was the fiend. Its physical appearance was just as Vargas had described it. A dozen feet tall, four insectile legs, vertical body, four bladed forelimbs, pincers, whip-like antennae, exoskeleton, green. The beast charged right at the group immediately, it spread two of its blades wide and kept the other two in close. William drew both of his swords in a single motion. "Move!" He shouted. "Aretha, Isaac, back. Kiro, right. I'm left." Even as he spoke he was following his own orders and darting to the left side of the creature. The monster took a swing at him as soon as he was within it's range. William angled a sword in its path and deflected the strike over his head, allowing himself to move in closer. He thrust forward with his mothers sword, aiming for a quick strike to the creature 'torso'. One of the blades that the creature had been holding closer to itself darted in and swept his blade away. As it did the arm that struck at him first moved in close while the deflecting blade moved out to a striking position, keeping itself covered the whole time.
((Oh, and Storm, spaces.))

((Azure, it was Mathias that helped Tia, not Gene razz ))
Mathias listened intently to the description given to them by the farmers and ranchers, and nodded his head thoughtfully to their words. After a moment he asked," Are you sure its just the one fiend? You say it heals between encounters...perhaps there is more than one instead? And you say this poison doesn't poison in the traditional sense...what does that mean?" He glanced at Gene, wondering why he hadn't thought to ask for clarification on that, then back at Emma and Tia, his eyes asked if they might have anything to add to his questions.

Aretha froze when William halted the group. She felt the skin on the back of her neck pop up in little tiny goosebumps. Her body felt a tingle running through it.
Suddenly, a crash came from behind her. Her body jumped and spun around in a flash by itself. Aretha had been in the back of the group walking up the path, so she was the closest to the now downed tree. Now Aretha was a country girl, used to bugs and the like. But this was a giant, vicious, evil, indestructible, dozen foot tall green insect. So Aretha barely swallowed a small scream (which ended up coming out as a tiny high pitch squeal that made the huge bug look her way for a second), and turned around. She followed William's orders to a 'T', running to the back of the group. She stood (cowered) behind Isaac, forcing herself to breathe, trying to remember her seals and silently praying the insect did not have the urge to come towards her.
Bridget raised an eyebrow at Faye's words. "She's either an idiot or she's not taking my bait...nah, she's an idiot." Bridget let out another sigh, and put down the food. She wasn't actually hunger, but was simply bored and wanted to order the red-headed girl around. Bridget was now bored enough to chitchat.
"So, how long have you been in Calivert Corp? Did you just graduate or something?"

Malkin laughed. "I have no idea. My sense of direction is bad, remember? I get lost at home every other day. Your guess is probably better than mine." Dragging a match, he hit a cigarrette and spun in a slow circle. Stopping, he was pointing toward the path of destruction. "That way is my guess."

Kiro listened to William's orders, taking the right. With a burst of speed Kiro was already in position and stopped in a large skid across the dirt, grass, and roots. "So this is the b*****d." Kiro commented to himself and zoomed in to get as close to the fiend's body as possible; Kiro still had yet to draw both of his katanas but it seemed like Kiro wasn't worried and confident enough he could dodge the fiend's attacks.
The outside skin of the insect is known to be incredibly tough like armor. So slashing through it will be difficult. The katana was originally created to be able to cut through other swords and steel armor but with this fiend even attacking regularly still might not be enough. But drawing it straight from the sheath into a slash increases the blade's speed and it should do the trick. Kiro determined in his head the moment he laid eyes on the fiend's exoskeleton.

"About a few weeks..and yeah, I just graduated." Fayn answered, picking a piece of bread from the pile she had assembled and bit into it. The guardian placed the bread back down onto the tray, looking around the cafeteria where various Hunters and Guardians were doing their own stuff, mostly eating though.

(I know, I'm lame. Sorry I'm late. Also, for some reason a few of the posts have disappeared from the reference thing at the bottom. Not too troublesome, but still.)
Emma's journey inside was quick, mostly because she was inside just after Gene. She left the newbies in her dust, near literally. She had to fight herself not to start ordering drinks. She could handle her alcohol, but it wouldn't be a good impression if she went out to a job while everyone thought she could be drunk. Hilarious, but very unprofessional.
Turning to Mathias, she answered his question. "Multiples are possible, but unlikely in this case. Serpentine types usually don't move as groups, and some do have amazing regenerative abilities. Some require the fiend to shed skins, but we'll have to play it by ear for that. As for the poison, most serpents have real 'Ow, my heart is exploding' poison. With this, you don't have to worry about that because it's acidic. Even if it had poisonous properties, blood loss would cover that." Emma smiled. "My singular question is whether or not you know where it lives. Beyond that, we should be able to kill it."
Train crossed his arms as he waited for the beast within the cave to come out. Train could see that it was in there, it's aura had quickly become enraged. "Tyrone, here it comes. Move right and swing low." Train said, taking a step back. The beast that came flying towards Tyrone was large, at least twelve feet tall. It was quite muscular, which was still easy to see even under all of the armor it wore. The armor was made of bones, likely from the villages it hit. Train barely blinked, he was used to such things. "It made the armor, this means intelligence." Train said quickly, watching. It would take a moment to observe and analyze the beast enough for Train to attack. Especially since it was armored, Train would be very ineffective at delivering damage.
Luckily, armor made from the bones of the elderly and the young wouldn't hold well. After a swift beating from Enyo and Tyrone, it would be bare enough for Train. The armor had a focus on the beast's sides and legs.
Isaac perked his head up when William stopped them. He knew enough to know that it was 'game time.' When the giant bug appeared Isaac's face turned into one of despair for a moment. He had had trouble imagining just how large it was. Not so much anymore. He lost what little color he had, but he was sure that Aretha was behind him. He started to push her away a little while he stood defensively. He moved with her of course, but he wanted them both to be out of swiping range of the fiend. It would be the worst thing imaginable it they were hit on accident. "Now that we're starting, don't look Kiro in the eye. Apparently something bad will happen to you." Isaac said, his voice a little shaky.

"They said west didn't they? Though I don't know which way is west." Sven fixated his eyes at Matt. "I guess you're our last hope? If you don't know we'll have to call the old man back again, which would be a little embarrassing." He finnished off with a small chuckle.

((Yeah, all of the posts that we made while the thread was glitched aren't in there. At least all the ones since have been working.))
"Well, it seems to have a pretty wide territory. It's hit all of our ranches at one point or another. We have an idea to draw it in though." Doreta said. "We will open the fences of our four adjacent pastures, and let all of our animals together into a single, huge, herd." Powel said. "We think it will be a feast this fiend could not resist. We can begin immediately, if you'd like." "Your plan does sound as though it would draw the fiend in." Gene said. "Although you may take significant losses to your herds in the process." "We're aware o' that." Doreta said. "We'd rather lose a few more now, than all o' 'em over the long term." Gene again turned to his teammates "Thoughts?"
Tyrone followed Trains orders swiftly, shifting his feet so that he took a single full step to his right. He altered his grip on his sword, bringing it into two hands and, as the beast emerged into his sight, swung with every ounce of strength he had. If he was lucky he could catch it unawares with his strength and deal it a crippling blow from the get go.
The fiend lashed out at both of its nearby enemies simultaneously. With the fractured vision of an insect it could easily track them both. It employed its previous tactic of attacking with one blade while covering itself with the other then switching them as it went. William deflected several attacks this way, noting that its movements, its transition from attack to defense, was nearly flawless. He could hit it, he was sure of that. With two blades to two he could create an opening and make a hit, but not without leaving himself open while he struck. "Aretha, fall back! Isaac, get up here!" He called out. He had a plan, He only hoped Kira was doing as well, as he hadn't the time to spare to look and see for himself.
"West, oh yeah." Matt said and ran his gauntletted fingers through his hair, which left it at odd irregular angles. Matt took the lead and began heading to the west. It wasn't long before the three fighters could hear the sound of running water. They continued towards the sound for a while longer and right before they broke the treeline the quiet babbling of the river was punctuated by the heavy thud of an enormous footfall. They broke the treeline and there it was, as the old man had described it. It was a dozen or so feet tall at the highest arc of its shell, which appeared as though made of a glossy rock, bone, metal combination with swirling patterns on it. It had four massive, thick, limbs, each with heavy claws at the ends. It had a rather stubby tail for a creature its size. And lastly it had a boxy head, with a vicious looking beak, mounted on a rather long and flexible looking neck. The fiend stood several feet from the waterline of the river, facing away from them. Matt held an arm out to his allies and quietly stepped back into the treeline. He waited for them to join him and whispered. "It looks like it's heading into the water. Should we wait until it does when Sven can maybe lock it in place, or should we hit it now while it's out of its element?"

(( Aha, Kira instead of Kiro. You're silly Stoic. ))
Tia impatiently waited to get going. She wasn't too great with the details of things. When her teammates continuously gestured to her if she had any questions or thoughts she could only let out a smile and an uncomfortable laugh which reflected she didn't know what to say.
The beast was finally in Enyo's view and she immediately jumped down at the beast. As she fell, shadowy figures grew from her back and slithered there way out to form snake-like appendages called Ryus which were pure black with red insides which could be seen through their open mouths. There were four total in all and all equipped with razor sharp 'teeth' from what they appeared to be.
Enyo's golden eyes narrowed on the beasts armor as she attempted to pinpoint the weakest spots before she made contact from above and behind the fiend. She located two spots being at each shoulder which she hoped to cause the fiend's bone-plated body to fall off forward due to cracking. She couldn't locate any other significant weak points in time and decided to have her last to Ryus(Her "snake-like appendages" which is made from dark energy) aim for a vital spot being the fiend's neck.
I hope this guy's skin is harder than it looks or I'll be disappointed. One of the insect's blades were swooping in at Kiro. He watches very closely to the movement of the insects arm and calculated the path of the attack. "So slow." Kiro commented quickly. Coming within just centimeters of being sliced, Kiro ducked and slid as best as he could to the fiend which brought him within a meters reach. Kiro had his arms and hands already in place as he came within range and drew both of his katanas and with both he slashed upwards at the fiend's right side in an 'x' shape with both blades which also allowed a quick defense from attacks from above which were relatively most of the insect's attacks at close range with it's height.

((I am going to be evil and have a little fun. I can't help it. If this is bad, Stoic, let me know. I will change my post. So Team 4, I wouldn't reply to this until Stoic says it's ok.))
Aretha looked at Issac questioningly. "Why should I look Kiro in the eyes? Will it do something to me?" she asked. Aretha never got her answer. Issac was ordered up front, and Aretha was ordered to fall back some more.
She did just that. She fell back twenty feet, and watched the battle. Both of the men were doing fine, but the insect seemed to have very hard skin. Aretha knew that the insect wouldn't last long, so she began to prepare a seal. She set down her paper, and opened the inkwell. She was about to create the seal, when she heard a click sound behind her.
Aretha turned around, and instantly tried to scream, but it got caught in her throat. About five feet from her was a smaller insect fiend, about the size of a large dog, which came up to her waist. It looked very much like the larger one the boys were fighting, which happened to be its mother.
Girl and insect stared at each other for a second, and then the insect whipped her with it's antenae. Aretha let out a cry as she fell to the ground. The insect scurried over to her, rising its claws. Aretha rolled in time to not get impaled, but her back did get nicked, causing her to let out another cry. She started to crawl away from the insect, which was following her.
((I know this looks one-sided, but Bridget's in a conversation verus Aretha's action sequence. Not as much to say.))
"Mmm...that's nice. How do you like it here?" she asked, completely bored. She didn't even bother listerning to the answer. The girl wasn't even interesing in conversation! Bridget was resisting the urge to just leave the girl and simply be bored on her own. Bridget's eyes lazily glanced around the room, until her eyes gazed on a large shadow of a certain tower. A smile broke the frown on her face.
"Let's spar! This is boring," she said again in a commanding tone, grabbing Fayn's arm and starting to pull the girl off the bench.

((I have no problems with that, Rai. Though I should tell you there is no sparring 'field'. There is the Arena, which is a relatively short tower which holds numerous sparring rings, cages, and pits of various sizes on its many levels. To all who care: I will not be designing this many missions at once again anytime soon. I will still be designing missions, but only one or two every now and then. I offer you all the opportunity to design missions of your own. You can create the towns, the NPCs, the fiends, and other aspects. Once designed, run them by me and I'll let you know if anything needs to be tweaked or adjusted. Then the mission will go into the Corps. Archives. From there any Team can choose the mission, when they are not already assigned one. Once a Team has chosen your mission you will the one to run it, controlling the aspects of the mission. Biggest thing is: don't plan on any of your characters going on a mission that you have designed. That will be mostly avoided. Anyways, let me know what you guys think of this and if you have any questions feel free to ask.))

Sven wrinkled his eyebrows and shook his head. "The water will only bolster it's mobility and decrease ours making it impossible for me to catch it. We could pervent it from entering the river at first, and then leave an opening where I freeze it in place as soon as it's close enough to the water. Another way is to somehow bring the water to the creature and freeze it but I can't see how that would be done. I can normaly bring the water to me, but enough water to freeze this thing would leave me exhausted, and that's not even counting that this is a river with a current which makes it at least ten times harder. So to freeze it we either need to bring it to the water, or the water to it. It would probably be best to see if we can't bring it down anyway without the risk of it escaping if we let it go to the water." Sven started doing some small strechings to ease up his muscles for the incoming battle, all the while keeping an eye on the fiend. "Should we intercept it? If we stall for too long it'll reach the water."
