"Ah...." Lin kind of feel sorry for Ahren, he must have been really scared and everything, "It's okay, I'm not angry with you."
Though she would admit to herself she had wanted to whack him earlier, however now it would be not nice to try and whack him.

Ahren looked up at Lin, tears in his eyes, but his expression one of indredulity, as though he couldn't believe that she would forgive him so easily.
"Really?"

The little girl nodded, honestly she wasn't the one who got really upset after he yelled at her. While even Lin was prone for her fits of violence, she always tried to direct it in inanimate objects. Besides, her mother would always tell her it wasn't worth getting upset once it was resolved, it used up too much energy that could be put towards better use.
"Yes," Lin replied, "It's okay now, you know that it was a bad thing."

Ahren sat up again, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.
"I know I'm not supposed to get mad like that," he admitted, "but I just can't help it. Papa doesn't like it when it happens, but Mama ... Mama says it's normal, that it means I'm hitting pu ... pu ... that I'm growing up." He shrugged. "Whatever that means."

Lin didn't know what that meant neither, as far as she knew no one else got more grumpy when they got older. Though she wondered if maybe that was why her Daddy scowled a lot, however it wouldn't explain why her mother wasn't like that.
"Maybe taking deep breaths first would help?"

"Eh?"
Ahren blinked at Lin, completely confused.
"What good would that do?"

"Well... sometimes when you get mad, you don't think so if you take deep breaths, you calm down and can think again," Lin explained.
She had enough anger management issues to know.
"I use to do that, then again I did a lot of things when I got mad."

"Yeah?" Ahren was interested now, even if he didn't want to be, and didn't want to show it. "What kinds of things did you do?"
He moved back up to his chair and made himself comfortable.

"Well... I would eat something I like, most of the time it's a sweet. I like mochi the best so I would always go and see if there was some, or I would go and run... or walk.. err.. climb up steps to a mountain, but I could only do that one with someone watching me."
Lin tried to think of what else she tried.
"I lost a pillow after I wrote what was upsetting me on it and hit it a lot all the feathers came out. Daddy said I was very violent on the pillow."
She didn't tell him though that the thing that had upset her was Kakashi and she had written his name on the pillow.

Ahren couldn't stop himself - he giggled at the pillow bit.
"Is that why you gave me the candy this morning, then?" he asked her curiously. "To make my grumpiness go away?"
What a curious theory.

"Pity it didn't work," Arthael deadpanned, crossing her arms and sitting across from the boy.
She was still waiting for her apology as well, but since he was so obviously already in a better mood, and no longer being snappy, she was willing to overlook it - this once.

Lin nodded, "I saw it once and thought it was a good idea, because there was this one day. Daddy was very grumpy, I think the students were being bad again or something. So Mommy gave him some sugar, and then he was much happier. At least I think so.. I didn't get to see what happened after that because Triton dragged me away from the kitchen."

"Aw, they probably just started kissin'," Ahren said carelessly. "That's what Papa does whenever Mama gives him something special when he's grumpy."
He crossed his legs comfortably. "Sugar tastes good, but that's 'bout all it does, really."

"I don't know, I think it can make people happy, at least that's what I've found."
That was her honest belief, after all she was always happy to get candy, and Yuki... well Yukito didn't count. He just loved sugar, cute things and most things in general.

"Probably just because it tastes good," Ahren shrugged again. "And because you give it away like it's free. Everybody likes presents, especially if it's not their birthday or something."
He looked thoughtful all of a sudden.
"Mama says we can't have candy very much because it's so hard to come by," he explained sadly, "so we only get some if it's a special occasion, like if it's a birthday or Mama and Papa's anniversary or something."
