Up seemed like a regrettably superior option - up to where there were Angelships and a clear path they had already traversed. Assuming, of course, that they could move all the way up a story rather quickly. If the distance were longer, Paul would go down the shaft instead.
((I don't know enough about the room, so if it's a long ways to safety, send him down the hole. Otherwise, straight up to survival.))

The path downward seemed safer, assuming that he could get there safely ((read: if the Lucifex isn't going to lazor Paul to death on the run, Paul will do the following, else cancel it for me)). He turned and sprinted for it, aiming to jump feet-first right on down whatever it was, with a grappling hook prepared to slow him down by scraping against the sides or stop him by latching on.
He really hope he didn't get crushed by the Lucifex behind him.

The Lucifex had turned some other direction, it appeared, Paul shot down the shaft, his hook catching the edge and slowing his descent.

Getting no response, Joe turned to the wall and began to blast his way through. Couldn't be too long before they reached outside. Marco assisted with some Force Bullets as Joe exploded the wall.

Fyrin joined them, just to ensure it got done fast.

Paul at this point decided to look down through his scope, trying to ascertain what might be below

A quick inspection showed a cord beside Paul - it seemed to be some sort of elevator. The cord held a brilliant glow to his third eye, illuminating the whole shaft as it receded farther than he could see. Sebastian followed him, descending along the cord.
--
Joe and Fyrin promptly received a blast of magic (of which Joe took the brunt) to their faces as they broke through the last wall.
"Ah, my apologies," an angel said, smoke rising from its hand. It turned on a fully morphed Werebeast and incinerated it as it lunged at him.

Fyrin collapsed. His shield nearly shattered - he'd let it bleed off, he realized, because he hadn't been putting any mana into it, and in fact he'd been subconsciously feeding off of its buffer. Well, crap. Now he was getting very, very tired, and that meant his mood would be plummeting like a rock very, very shortly. And so would his objectivity, and his logical thinking process... they needed to do something about that. Well, it looked like he'd have a chance to rest.
He got up and made for the hole in the wall, fairly confident that the angels could handle themselves better than Fyrin could.
---
Paul grabbed the cord, then had an idea. From stone he created a tough rappelling double loop and tried to tie the rope to it. If the rope was taut, he would instead fast-rope style down it with a layer of some protective magic to prevent his hands from getting cut up too badly.

Joe reeled back, his head whipping back. He stayed like that for a second, his arms thrown out and his left leg lifted up. Then he cracked himself back into place and his face glowed briefly as it healed. "And a fine hello to you too," Joe said, brushing his face subconsciously. "Can we hop on your ship, and be dropped back at Xanadu-3?"

"No. We're fighting," the angel replied simply. "Here's a list of spots to hit."
Joe and Fyrin each felt a wave of divine energy. They then felt the knowledge of a list of seven hideouts the enemy had been using and a primal need to wipe those enemies out.

The irony was that with the wave of energy, Fyrin's mood and mentality stabilized, and the primal need washed over him and was shrugged in favor of the mind. A primal need would not be appropriate to operate under.
"Joe, which one do you think we should hit first?" Fyrin inquired, putting more mana into resurrecting his shield.

Joe roared in primal fury as he flared up brightly. He took off at an extremely rapid pace. It was up to Fyrin to keep up as Joe headed for the nearest hit point.

Fyrin shrugged. He should've seen that one coming, and he took to the air to keep up, wondering what exactly they would be facing.
---
Paul was wondering just how long this rope actually was. Or if it was taut. Nobody ever told him.
