I'm not going to belittle anyone here, and honestly, I don't totally know you all all that well, and I know Dess a ********, but she is honestly like... the smartest person I know. I mean, people are smart in different ways, but overall, she is. Not to mention straight up intelligence. Unfortunately, I was raised to believe the only way to be friends with someone was for them to have a high IQ. stare So, when I met Dess.....

Just because I don't show off doesn't mean I'm not smart.
And I'm American, and so are a lot of other people in this guild and none of us are stupid. So ******** that.

Lady Psycho Sexy Anyone could be smart if they spent as much time asking questions and finding answers as I do. Iunno, that's not the only way you can quantify "smarts," though, least from my point of view. "Smart" is an amalgam of innate intelligence, learned knowledge, wisdom, and common sense* * I am missing that one.

So if I can't do math, does that mean I'm not smart?

Two people can know how to do the exact same thing, say, in an inefficient and time-consuming manner, but one person will follow the directions exactly and never question them, and the smarter person will go "Wait, no, there's gotta be a better way to do this" and develop a more efficient method for getting the task done.

No, I'm gonna side with Allegro.
I think the independent thinking would fall somewhere between the things Allegro said.
I think that common sense is one of the big components of being "smart" that gets forgotten. You can spout facts all you want, but you can't read about common sense on the internet and then have it. Showing people how smart you are but then doing stupid things is kind of dumb.

Common sense and wisdom are important because they usually determine what knowledge you strive to learn. Learned knowledge can help you do things, but without the wisdom to find and use that knowledge you are up s**t creek.
I know it isn't really part of being "smart" but I always thought imagination was really important.
