If supersoakers that were too powerful weren't banned, I know we would be using pressurized water as a projectile weapon right now.

Walking around the town on a day all the shops are closed is really peaceful. Sometimes it takes a complete absence of cars to make you realize just how much space there is in a parking lot. I wonder what we'd do with all that space if we didn't need stores or personal vehicles or four-lane roads to accommodate them or luxurious half-a-million-dollar houses surrounded by an acre of land inhabited by maybe three people.

There's all this silly fear propaganda going around about running out of land and resources and water and whatnot, but really, I think if we started using what we have a little smarter we'd be just fine. I mean, how many people live in Japan? I wouldn't want to have to live like that, but I think it would be far less extreme with all the space on this continent if we just learned to manage it a little better.

I've been laying in bed until 3 in the afternoon every day since Monday, and I feel like a waste of skin. -.-'

xd
Get out there and do somethin'!
Grab some friends and go do something "immature," like minigolf or somesuch. xd
Or do what I've been doing and cook! You get a sense of satisfaction and delicious things. xd
No, ******** that. Mini golf is THE s**t.
Dude, I know, but the rest of society thinks it's for little kids. ******** that, though, I'mma putt the s**t out of that ball if I feel like it.

Bitches love minigolf. Went there with a bunch of friends after my grad party and it was awesome. Friend didn't have a pocket so she put her phone in her bra. She leaned over to look at the water and her phone fell in. She was like, "lol ima go get it" and went around and hopped in. It only went up to her thighs or so, but she couldn't get out and asked for my assistance. I grabbed her hand and pulled, and the combination of her hand being wet and the slope being slippery made her hand slide out from mine and into the blue she went. It was all very comical and it made me lololololololol.

That and I got 6 colored Golf Balls, I need 6 more for the other Trolls in Homestuck. I need to go back there now.

A technology review article on medicine I am reading is talking about clinical trials of targeted, engineered viruses to selectively kill cancer cells. The thing that makes this different from others is that it is actually selectively infecting the cancer cells without infecting regular cells. Instead of injecting viruses into the tumors, doctors could inject the viruses into the bloodstream to seek out cancer cells that have metastasized and are seeking the rest of the body. In the group of eight who received the highest dose, seven of them showed that tumor growth had stopped, and of those seven patients, one's tumors actually receded. The best part? The viruses they are using have genes that instruct the body to attack cancerous cells that get infected, so really the body is protecting itself. It is all very cool, but there are theories that say that the body will eventually realize that there is a virus, and that when there are no cancer cells to suppress the immune system, the patients body will kill off the beneficial virus. That part is a bummer, but it is still neat!

It is like, the babiest pussiest virus ever. It is okay at sneaking past the immune system, but that is really all it does besides telling your body. "Hey attack this cell!" It is like the police assisted suicide depressed guy of viruses.

I want to name it the tattle-tale virus.

Wouldn't that make it a one time thing though? Once you use it to help, and the body recognizes and destroys it afterwards, would it even have a chance to trick the body again? Silly immune system.
That would suck. D: I hope that doesn't actually happen, but the immune system is designed to do just that.

Zedonk is now my favorite kind of hybrid ever. Just because it's name.

Here is a little segment of the article from technology review

Quote:
To develop JX-594, the therapy in the new study, researchers at Jennerex started with a strain of vaccinia virus, which is adept at evading the immune system. (It was also used in the smallpox vaccine.) They then armed it with a gene encoding a protein called GM-CSF, which triggers an immune attack against cancer cells. They also added a second gene for beta-galactosidase, a marker protein with which they could track the virus's replication.

Exactly why I was saying it is a bummer, and that it is a con of the whole thing. Still they could always find another virus to latch the genes into. Keep treating the patient with different viruses that do the same thing.

That's true.

There's a virus that can trick the immune system though, isn't there? I'm thinking of HIV for some reason, but I'm pretty sure that one gets the immune system to attack itself. Or something to troll the immune system.

There actually have been treatments using modified HIV, but none of them are as effective as this one, and the reason HIV is so successful is because it mutates. If you were to leave enough of it's genetic material in to allow it to mutate, you would essentially be giving somebody with cancer HIV. That is probably not what they are trying to to. XD
