Paul swapped the scope to light amplification as quickly as he could. He traced a broad circle, trying to determine what was going on. His gun barrel no longer lit up the hallway and he was reloading as he glared down the scope.
The Skeleton Soldiers hit the dirt and prayed. They could see better, but their equipment and magic was not sufficient to defend in this instance.

"Let's go, now," Fyrin suggested to Marco. "Something's going on, I can feel panic from the soldiers."

Marco nodded as he lifted into the air. "Lead the way."

Paul saw a humanoid figure wielding two blades, moving as if they weighed nothing, eviscerating zombies. Gertrude held her left forearm under her left shoulder, and with her right arm was holding Takeshi as she ran from the swordsman.
Finished with one pile of zombies, the untouched swordsman turned to Josh. The light from Josh's magic armor reflected off of a mask.
"You!" the newcomer hissed at Josh, pointing. "Angel scum!" He pulled two cylinders from within his armor and slammed them into the back of the hilts of his blades.
"Cypher blades!?" Josh and his angelic hanger-on exclaimed, infuriated. "Dulatiel!" The newcomer bowed his head and spread his wings behind him; he began to glow red. "For your treason you must-"
"Shut up and die!" the Lucifex roared, suddenly dashing forward.

"Oh, s**t," Paul breathed almost silently. This was trouble. If he could distract Dulatiel long enough for the Angel to be capable of bringing him down... no, that was impossible. It would not be possible to reason with the thing either. They needed some sort of distraction, and Paul wasn't sure what it could be.
Well, for starters, there was always a frag grenade.
Paul let the spoon pop off, counted to two and a half, and then chucked the grenade at the Lucifex, ducking to avoid shrapnel. It was worth a shot, wasn't it? Wouldn't do much, but hey, conventional assaults had rarely failed before.

"There's an active Lucifex down here," Fyrin announced to Marco. "Our friends may be in danger, let's see if we can bail them out. Joe, if you're in earshot, come with us!" Fyrin shouted to finish, then set off at a sprint to reach the others.

Marco groaned. "We need to hurry. Let's go." He took off, flying along at a rapid pace.
Joe, in the meantime, advanced slowly into the room, senses alert. He laid a hand on the metal protrusion experimentally.

a voice in Joe's head stated.

Dulatiel threw a sword into the air, grabbed the grenade out from its flight, and caught his sword in the other hand - he was now holding both in that hand - as he shoved the grenade against Josh's armor. Josh cried out at the blast, swinging his fist around at Dulatiel, a golden halo lining it. Dulatiel grabbed the fist in his open hand. Dulatiel grinned and threw Joshua back against the wall.
"Fall, self-righteous scum! Fall before Dulatiel, the Left Hand of Lord Siluriel, Follower of the Path of Truth!" He drew his blades back together. Josh's shields of light formed a great wall in front of him. The swords drove forward.
They passed through the armor of light and skewered Josh to the wall. Josh's mouth opened wide and blood began to pour out.

"That's a big fight," Marco called as he felt the rapidly rising and falling energy levels ahead. "We might not want to get near that."
Joe recoiled a bit, but didn't withdraw. And who might you be? he thought - righteously, of course.

Paul hesitated, then came to a decision. "Everyone out of here now!" he declared, and followed his own advice immediately, starting with a few strafing hops and turning to make a full sprint.

Dulatiel pulled his blades from Josh's body. "And now, O Righteous One, for the main course." He grabbed Josh by the chin and lifted him to his feet.

"Shitwaffles," Paul grunted, running for the hole they had come through. Tyrg be damned, he was getting out of there one way or the other.

Marco nodded in relief and quickly reversed direction, heading at a rapid clip back to where Joe had vanished.
