Byakuran's earliest pleasant memories were of music. It had been a distant light in the distance during his childhood fraught with the inability to control the vast input of his enhanced senses, the hellish nightmare that was the younger years of a an Otobe. Music brought him peace, it brought him a relaxing ease within his mind that he simply couldn't find elsewhere. Even his drive for power, his strong will to attain power and become stronger, could be pushed back, if not pushed out, by it's call. The simplest of melodies, the most complex of concerto's...they all held a special place in his oft concealed heart. It possessed an ability, like now, to merely root him to the spot to listen. True this wouldn't be enough to distract him in a truly dire situation, but at times when he was merely in between one task and the next, it always held the power to change his path to follow it, to seek it out, and listen. And listening he was...

Yes...he was listening. Almost more intently then he ever had t anything else in his life. His Kekke Genkai seemed to be awake now, brought to the front of his mind by his recent mastery using it. His second self was taking in every detail of the music it was taking in, and the internal workings of the complex system were imprinting the details within, the chakra within his body reacting in a strange reflection to the music. Byakuran himself didn't seem to notice it at first, doing so merely on a newly acquired instinct, but as he continued, he began to realize what he was doing, and what it might entail. This was it wasn't it. He stumbled across it himself... this was what it meant to use the Musical Inclination... to utilize the second self to produce the sounds of music...it allowed the otobe to allow the song within themselves, the music they could feel within their heads, escape into the outside world...

Yes...perhaps that would be one way. One way that, in some small way, he would be able to share the senses that he himself felt when he listened to a song. By using the technique to produce a music glorious enough to match the sensation on even the smallest level. Byakuran didn't really feel sorry for those who didn't have his abilities, but at the same time, like all people who walked the earth, one some level, he wished to be understood. He wished to be able to share his thoughts and feelings on a level where others would understand them. Perhaps...just perhaps, if he was able to master the technique... he continued to listen now, his eyes closed as the music continued to wash over him, his new goal in mind. He could put off learning his water Jutsu a little while longer... this was of importance as well...even if, for once, it wasn't for the goal of making him necessarily stronger.

The Old man continued to play his song to the market place, the look his face weary as he looked around at the faces of those around him. Many of them merely continued to pass on by about there business, many of those who stopped by to listen for a moment, or just to toss a coin at his feet, moved on without much further thought, already on with their day as he himself went on with his, playing his seemingly unending song... but... his eyes met with a boy, who's own eyes were closed, who seemed to be standing so very still it was easy to pick him out for a ninja even before one saw the headband about his waist. He didn't move at all. Even as the song continued on and the rest of the crowd shifted around, some coming and going, the boy stayed resolute, listening to the song as though nothing else in the world existed beyond it. The old man was a little surprised, truth be told. The boy didn't look to be older than 13, and he was a ninja none the less, yet he seemed rather content, no, more so, intent, as he stood their listening.

The Old man continued to play unhindered, merely watching the boy occasionally to check and see that he had indeed not moved. And so he had not. Not a twitch, not a shift of his weight. The man would have thought the boy a statue for the sheer level of focus he seemed to be putting into listening to his song. A fan of music born wouldn't have been so as intent as this boy. He seemed to be listening to the music not so much as absorbing it in through his very skin, his determination apparently unfaltering in the matter. It seemed as though the boy was set to stand there listening for so long as the old man himself was willing to play, so...the old man merely granted the boy's apparent wish. He continued to play for his audience, though the faces in it changed...save the one.

Byakuran's mind seemed to flow with the flowing rhythm of the violin, his chakra seeming to flicker and dance within his second self in response to it. His second self seemed to be listening in a way it never had before, memorizing and observing the sound it was taking with an intensity that it had never known until he had begun to master the Minor Vibration. Now it was following the pattern in memory with a new gusto and narrowing the sounds it was hearing down to the smallest wave, to the tiniest decibel. He was rather certain that he didn't need any such scroll or guidance to finish this jutsu. He would do this just as no doubt the first Otobe who had used their talent to express music into the world outside themselves. To share their gift in some small way with all those around them...
He would do this without any assistance...and he felt that he was well on his way.

Byakuran seemed to be placed in some manner of stasis, his mind and senses focused on the music itself, excluding all else from the equation. It was like being under water.
For an Otobe, being under water was not the same as it was for most. Where as most people's sense of hearing decreased, became muffled...but they detected sound differently then a member of his clan. Their hearing was designed to detect vibrations in the air the pockets and chambers of their ear reflecting this... but his clan picked up sensations such as as that from their skin itself, sensing the vibrations far more completely. As such, having a solid medium through which the sound could travel enhanced their already impressive sense of sound, allowing them to hear much further underwater then they ever could above it. And that was what this moment felt like to him...it felt as though the music had surrounded him, and washed away all else...

Byakuran at last moved, his eyes opening as he looked towards the old man playing, his gaze focusing slightly. He was fairly certain he'd managed it. He was fairly certain he'd managed to pick up on the flow of the music, his second self having attuned itself to the rhythm of it. He was ready, for all that it was worth, he suspected, to begin the next phase. While he didn't know for certain, he couldn't imagine the phase could be anything but trying to produce those same sounds. Trying to emulate the music that Byakuran could now feel pulsing inside him into the open air, for all to hear. The Old man was watching him, apparently having noticed him at some point during the performance, Byakuran himself meeting the man's gaze indifferently for a moment, before he reached into his pack, and withdrew his own simple wooden flute.
In truth, Byakuran's true skill was with the same instrument that the man himself was playing, but coming by a proper violin was not an inexpensive luxury, and Byakuran had more...prominent concerns in his life at the moment. The Flute was easy to carry around, practical, and more importantly something he could craft himself.
Byakuran brought the instrument up to his lips without explanation or introduction, and began to play... yet using his kekke genkai to enhance the sound, to emulate the truth of the music he wanted to play...to manipulate the sound itself into taking the shape he wanted... and thus...

The boy began to play, softly and melodiously, a mere back round preformance echoing the man's own mastery of his instrument. It was a background, an accompaniment, but it was not unwelcome. The old man seemed to show a hint of surprise in his eyes, but there was a shadow of a smile as well, both now continuing to play on as the crowd now diverted their attention between the two. Byakuran new that trying to do this so...instinctively...attempting to emulate the sounds of music, master one of his families jutsu through feeling alone was not going to be simple, he felt that he would be able to do it. His skill with Ninjutsu was nothing to be ashamed of, certainly more then most genin could hope to claim, and that was what this was... it was utilizing the same motions and currents of ninjutsu, save to create, rather than destroy...

The process was not easy, it was a matter of perfectly replicating all the small things about a musical piece. It's nuances and curves, it's tiniest pushes and pulls, it's most seemingly insignificant rises and falls. But it would all be worth it in the end, of that, Byakuran was sure. True he had begun this without much thought to the end result, but within himself now, as he continued to play his flute, he could feel a strange and slow understanding of the task which lay before him. It was a young thing still, without form and completely without substance...but it was there...like the mist upon the water, it was there... and he would, so help him, give form and shape to understanding just as he was giving shape the music itself. He suspected that it might be more difficult then many of the things he'd attempted thus far, but at the same time he didn't think that it would be as difficult as attempting to master the minor vibration...at the very least it would be far less perilous.

The shifting sound in the air around him began to sing just a bit clearer as the sound coming from his kekke genkai began to bend it closer to his will...began to bend it closer to his vision. It was a little change, so small that even the Old man and his violin didn't seem to notice it, but Byakuran did. He felt the change and he felt all the more reason to press on further, to continue on with this endeavor. This was nota jutsu that would help him defeat his opponents... but...it was important to him none the less. It would, at the least, help him gain experience when dealing with ninjutsu at the very least, so it wasn't a complete act of recreation...but...
But at the same time Byakuran had always wanted to be able to let free the music that he felt within his mind. To be able to more directly portray the melody that sung within him out into the world around him. This technique was the very embodiment of that...the ability to use his chakra, his very soul, body and mind, to create that music...it was a chance to truly express himself...and in some small way, even if he wouldn't openly admit it, that was important to him as well.

He wanted power because he wanted to be able to enjoy himself...he didn't want power merely for the sake of enjoying it. The was a means, more then it was an end. And that was not something that he himself was entirely without notice of. His goals were lofty, and so the strength he would need to realize them was likewise so, but he didn't want his power solely for the sake of abusing it. His goal was be able to enjoy himself...to be able to be happy, without something getting in his way. He suspected that, deep down, many people who's goal was gain more power was similar to that, even those who allowed their priorities to get mixed up along the way... Perhaps not so long ago his own clan had been one such collection of people...

The truth was still difficult to see, still hazy and beyond his ability to truly grasp. It was no simple matter to bring forth the song that he truly wanted, that he truly wanted to give life to, to bring forth from the air around him. Even so, however, he played on, the distant horizon of his success driving him forward as he continued to struggle to lay his mind around the matter. It was within his ability to do...he felt it, he could almost...sense it within. The truth of the matter, the secret to it...it wasn't far away now. The ability to do this was within him, he merely needed to reach out and take hold of it. He just needed to seize the gift that was rightfully his... it was there. For truth it was there... this old man's song had awakened the call of it within him, and the melody from the strings of this man's violin was stirring it still further, the notes of Byakuran's own flute echoing the first breaths of it...

The technical aspect of emulating the music was as difficult to a hurtle to leap over as the ability to enhance is his own sounds with it. It was about copying the particulars of music, translating them all from on language to another. It was an uphill battle without mistake, but he was not giving any ground. If he could tame the harmful waves of the Minor vibration jutsu then he could match the nuances of music. He was not unskilled with it, and anyway, with his second self it was merely a matter of monkey see monkey do. It was slow process, to be sure, but it didn't need to be. He just had to concentrate...he just had to focus his efforts and translate all he knew bit by bit... had to attune his exterior waves to those of the rhythm within his sensory system. It was not going to be easy, but he could do it.

The understanding grew...it was such a subtle, a slight rise in his music, disguised a rise in volume and intensity, but again Byakuran could detect it within his own playing. He suspected that if he mastered this technique he wouldn't even need an actual instrument anymore. He would be able to play without one, merely be emitting the sound entirely by himself. That was certainly expand on his ability to preform, being able to emitt he sounds of multiple instruments, countless voices or strings... but that would also reveal his rather peculiar abilities...for the mean time he would keep it as a mere matter of enhancing his current performance...focusing his efforts on a single instrument to hide his talents. As his flute played one in sync with his efforts, he suspected that it wouldn't be too difficult.
