no, you are not a twit, i'm sorry for not explaining further.....it means that one of the hormones for his thyroid are rising, not enough to cause hyperthyroid, but she said he is either on his way to getting the hyperthyroid, or it will be at a high number.....i was kinda confused on the phone when she tried explaining it..... sweatdrop

Ah I see, complicated for a little one. Well I hope your baby gets better soon! Heh, I really should learn more about this kind of thing for when I have my own baby. In many years to come.

yay ... so eric had a check up today and now theyre saying he may have problems with his kidneys..sooo now more blood and urine work..poor kid ..and he has eczema(sp?) and over the counter stuff doesnt work so theyve added Elidel to our list of meds Dx and he has a wierd form of contact dermatitis so everytime he gets a bruise, brush burn or cut or even falls hard it sets of an allergic type reaction of hyves and we have to use a real strong Rx of hydrocortizone to get rid of it...damn cant we have one uneventful doctors visit XD

I need a place to talk about my 13 year old son. I love him sooo much, but by heavens he has been given short shrift in life! I believe with all my heart that God or fate has some very grand plans for this young man, or he would not be putting so much into preparing him for this life but it is breaking my heart to see him struggle.

Leat begin by saying that this young man can be the most delightful polite felow you would ever want to meet. I am forever getting compliments on his industriousness, manners, and professionalism. (he has a paper route he takes very seriously) When he is good he is very very good.

We are mostly a family of intalectuals, bookish types who love to read and use long words. I have a mild form of a learning disability but IQ masks it very much. My son got a double measure of this as both myself and his father (my ex) had the disorder. It makes reading and spelling very very hard. Proof reading is neigh impossable without very sneaky tactics to trick ones brain and even then... But all in all it makes the rest of the family look super brilliant in comparison... I try not to compare but my son does it all the time. Growing up with a learning disability when your older brother is a walking dictionary is frustrating to say the least.

Problem number two, my ex was to put in delicatly the worst kind of monster on the face of the earth. He suffered a head injury that left him mean and unable to control certain sick desires. My younger son ended up the target. (the line to do this man greivous bodily harm starts around the block) But honestly it is more important to paint this man in the most positive light possible for my son's sake. He knows that he is half of this man... to speak ill of him... anyhow, we have both tried our best to forgive and move on as he is nolonger involved in our day to day life. (no visitation no more contact)

This has left my son with not only a learning disability but a deep inner hurt that is taking ages to heal, and will likely never fully heal until he is all grown up. He is left with lingering mental illness as a result. Couple this with his being a big strong boy taller than most in his grade and still growing into size twelve hands and feet makes him feel phyiscally akward.

I know that his problems are NOTHING, compared to what some of you are going through! I am so blessed that at least he is physically healthy and I do not have to worry about walking and talking! But I am now running into my own set of troubles. He has been out of the main stream of schools and in special classes since about grade 4... he is now highschool age. The number of apropriate programs is dwindling. The closest fit is saying he is too bright for the program, and too undiciplined (we made a big mistake and he ended up in a behavioral class instead of an LD calss and they began treating him as a dicipline problem rather than a frustrated individual) due to a report froma school that taught him for less than two weeks of school days. (over the course of three months) I am now schooling him at home and this puts us in another akward position.. but I digress.

He can read, he works about two grades below where he should be for his age, but his reading comprehension is about 84% where normal is 27 to 50% ( it is a comparison scale) other things range from the 1% to 27 % range. He is not ready to deal with a normal class, but too bright for and LD calss, too sensitive for a behavioral class, too agressive for a class for kids with anxiety... but that is the killer, anxiety is what makes him act agressive! Where some kids like him will withdraw he will fight back... he is tired of being hurt and wants to be in control so he will not be hurt anymore!

HOW can I get the school people to see this? How can I help him to feel safe? I have been such a stong advocate for him up until now, but I feel completely at a loss for where to go now! I know everyone here is so kind and supportive. I did not know where else to post this. I guess I just needed to vent a bit? But any ideas would be welcome! and prayers always help! Thanks for reading all this if you made it this far!
