"Sokay..." Iamel waved his blleding hand faintly, eyes half hooded. "Firecrackers?" He offered to her current little question, licking at his lips.

Yashi hesitated for a moment, shifting around to wrap his arms around Zahs shoulders. "Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens.." Oh yes, Yashi was singing, his voice gently, "Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens. Brown paper packages tied up with string... These are a few of my favorite things..."

He didn't have a bad voice, although he was no musical star. It wa merely a song he knew.

Iamel almost cackled but instead flashed Anthea a mouthful of bright teeth. "Musicals, as Yashi is pointing out. Bald heads? Piercings. Fire. Akilah. He's a happy little meerkat."

Shira unfroze as she recognized what she suspected was only a shadow cast by a large piece of wood.

"Eh...wait what?" Blink blink. "Spazzy things?"

Shira almost spazzed herself as Yashima started singing one of the songs from her many forbidden memories in High School, that song being one of the major no-no's. Her brow twitched un-intentionally.

...Damned highschool musical.

Trying to push those thoughts away from her mind--since her twitch was only getting worse-- she continued her previous chanting; adding on rainy days on the roof and green tea incense.

"Mmmm.....tea."

"Books..." The word was so soft that it was a surprise the blonde woman had even spoken. "Grass underneath bare feet...Warmth...Birds singing..." A dreamy sort of sigh floated from Nataki, for she was apparently soothed by such thoughts. When Yashima began to sing, she blinked in surprise, lips quirking upward in a gentle smile. Ohh, yes, the Sound of Music. A classic, of course.

The mention of spazzy things made her think of bunnies, too. White, fluffy, adorable rabbits. Why, she used to own a rabbit once...That was certainly a happy thought. "What else," She mused aloud, apparently having forgotten her self-consciousness for the moment. "Magic...Mythical things..." Her arms were folded securely over her chest as the frizzy blonde allowed most of her fear to slip away, simply putting herself in another place--like this was just a movie that she happened to be watching.

Shira had been going through many different types of teas in her head. Really, there were so many delicious types! Drooling at the thought of a nice hot cup of Vanilla Chai, her trance was broken by the crackling movement of the burning wood. She was reminded again of the current situation by the cold chill down her spine.

"Um...." Her thoughts weren't so much centered around the danger they were currently in, but she was still aware...kind've.

Somehow she'd dropped her neutral sword in the moment of coziness she had deep within her thoughts and bent down to retrieve it. Should she speak out? Probably not. Their 'Happy Thinking' session seemed to be keeping the monster at bay....

The fear that was starting to vanish was severely upsetting to the shade. How did this woman know the workings of...

Well, ********.

The relatively new spirit was getting frustrated with all the happy thoughts floating around and slunk down onto the ground, moving in a fluid motion and trying to keep up with the crackling firelight.

It hated lights, even of the fire kind.

Now the only trouble was targeting the one that would be freaked out the easiest. It was between the little girl and the older girl who was talking about books.

Children scared easier, right? He lunged, grabbing at her leg and biting it ferociously before starting to drag her into the floor. Oh it was fun manipulating solid objects.

"Apples!" The child piped up, smiling a little bit as she struggled to stand up. She was getting tired and her foot was throbbing and...

WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!

Coailiann let out a screech of pain as the Shade bit into her injured ankle, tears immediately springing to her eyes. She struggled, trying to pull her foot from his grasp when he started to pull her down and she began sinking into the floor.

He was right. She was freaking out and flailing, all rational thought forced from her mind. THE HOUSE WAS EATING HER!

Malen had been thinking of a slew of happy things ranging from kissing Ianna to watching the girls take their first steps when that thing tried to take Kay. Fear flooded him for a moement before adrenaline kicked in and he grab her arms " I"ve got you kay I won't let go." He had no clue How to win against this thing though but he wouldn't let go even if he went under himself.

Kishi who'd been out of it for the last while snapped back to relaity when her sister screamed. Own fear brushed aside she rushed to her and their father flinging her arms around her waist " I have you too."

Nataki screamed when the thing finally showed itself, trying to drag her into the floor! Without even thinking about it, the frizzy blonde lunged at Coailiann, ignoring any fists or feet that might have smashed into her face. However, she was too late--two others were already helping and she backed off so she wouldn't get in the way, eyes wide, hands silently strangling one another. No, no, the happy thoughts were supposed to have worked!

Without even thinking about it, the mousy woman rushed forward again, trying to stomp the place where it looked as though the girl was sinking. "L-L-Let her go!" She squeaked, her breath hitching in her throat.

Taylor had been trying to save her strength, sleeping on and off throughout most of this, waking up only enough to catch the instruction to "think of happy things." Um... happy things... Books? Good grades? She vaguely thought she heard someone mention bald heads, and thought of Diacyn. He was... well, he was annoying and snarky and rude, but right now, she really wished he was here. He'd be fearless in the face of all of this wierdness....

And then the floor started eating Kay.

"Yh- what- WHAT?" She snapped awake immediately, forcing down a wave of pain that surged up her leg as she tried to sit up. It was a few confused seconds before she could realize that something had a hold of the little girl... and there was nothing she could do to help out. Last time she'd tried to be brave, she'd nearly had her foot cut off. She was completely, completely useless. She would have been depressed if she hadn't been so frightened.

Vana was awakened suddenly and rudely by the sudden panic filling up the room. Eyes fluttering open, the little girl had a distinctly worried look as she tried to sort out what was what; unable to see past Zah to the source of the commotion, however, the fern baby was incapable of figuring out what was going on.

This did not please her, not in the slightest. People were screaming bloody murder, and after all else that had happened, she didn't want to be in the dark as to why.

"Irp," the babe grunted, squiggling a little in Zah's hands to try and get an eyeful of the world behind him.

Dread washed over. From tip to tail, showing through her wide eyes when she turned to see Coailiann falling through the floor.

s**t! How the ******** did it get one of the kids?!

She saw Malen, Kishi, and Nataki dive to save Coailiann, but the thing was still mauling her. Shira yelled for the kids to gather elsewhere as she slashed at the dark matter.

"Thae!"
PostPosted: Tue Dec 12, 2006 6:51 pm

Thae had been about to congradulate them on a job well done for cheering themselves up. It was interesting, what fire did! And sight. Sight was apparently very important to these living things, of whom she was now irreversably a part of. But her words were lost on her lips as the white haired girl was pulled into the floor. Instead of panicking herself, she just stared at the girl, then at the crowd of people.

Stupid shade! All of her hard work was now down the drain. With an aggrivated huff, the redhead stormed to the corner of the room where she and that boy had started the fire; luckily, it was being contained. "I'm coming~" She said calmly, in response to her name being yelled. Apparently this shade was pissing her off, for she had gone quiet and almost withdrawn. Reaching fearlessly to the edges of the fire, Thae picked up a piece of wood that had turned itself into a sort of torch.

"Like I said people! Don't. Be. Afraid. I'm pretty sure its doing this on purpose." She sounded grumpy now, but she was making her way through the people to the poor girl being sucked into the floor. "Lift the littles ones off of the floor, that might help...and Nataki, you can hold onto me if you feel scared, just try your hardest to relax, okay? Miss Sicily isn't going to let anymore bad things happen to you people, so I won't either." Even if that swift-footed fool fooled her into it, she was going to do it. She lifted a hand towards the woman hitting at the shadows, as if letting her know she was there, and that she didn't want to get hit in the crossfire, so to speak. With that, she knelt near the poor girl.

"Its alright sweetling, you just take deep breaths and calm yourself, we'll get you out, we promise...but you have to relax for me as best as you can, okay?" Thae sounded sweet, like a fawning mother trying to soothe a child against the fear of the monster under their bed. "But you can fight it too, if you're not too afraid to move. Kick it in its fugly shadow face! Put up a fight! Oh yeah, and...Happy thoughts! Fuzzy Kittens! And You" She hissed at the floor shadows around the girl. "You go back to Jori with your tail tucked between your non-existant legs, filthy pile of soot."

Then, promptly, she started poking at the shadows around the people she felt oddly protective over. Wth her aqua eyes narrowed in a show of anger, she snarle threateningly at the shadows. "These people are MINE, ugly. Go stalk elsewhere!" It was a lie, but maybe she could scare it...or at least draw it off. She could only hope she hadn't lost all of her spirit scent...but then again, she could've been wrong.

----

Zasalamel had turned to face the people again once Kay screamed. His first instinct was to help her, since she was not only hurt, but also because she was just that..a she. but when everyone else went to her aid, the Drow stayed back. He didn't know what to make of Thae, but he felt he had no choice but to follow what she said...and although he did as Vana subtly whined for by letting her sit on his hip like he'd seen Kishi hold his brat brother, he still kept her against him.

"...Sumun' geht moore fyre!" He spoke up, after seeing Thae poke at the shadows with her little torch.

The woman jumped at the sound of Thae's voice like she'd been burned, immediately looking abashed and almost meek. "A-All right..." Swallowing, offering a desperate glance towards the scared little girl, Nataki slunk uselessly behind Thae, hovering slightly but not grabbing onto her--despite the fact that she very well wanted to. No, no, they had to help that poor girl, and she'd be damned if her own fear prevented Thae from being able to help the child.

"Happy thoughts," She barely breathed, her breath still caught in her throat. She wasn't able to summon up those nice, warm feelings again, trapped somewhere between mind-rending horror and a fierce sense of awe as to what was going on. Glassy eyes were fixed upon the shadows as Thae snarled and prodded at them, and yet again, her hands started their mindless wrangling. Ohh, dear lord, please say they'd finally go away...

"Oi! Anethea! Grab Iamel! Iamel! Stop being a ******** WUSS or I'LL tell Diacyn!" Yashimas voice barked from his position near Zah, taking a slight step back to wave at Anethea.

Iamels voice was a soft murmur and his eyes were closed."I'm too tired to be mad, Yashi.." He hadn't even gone to rescue Kay. The thin boy had a lot of energy, spiritually and otherwise, but it all burned very quickly. Without eating or resting, he became listless.

The fox paused and his eyes narrowed contemplatively. "I'll tell Tousan you've thought about kissing him."

Now, THAT part was probably untrue but it made Iamels eyes flick open and his body jerked. "You WHAT? You will NOT, puke! That's a lie!"

What whatever the ******** she was doing was obviously pointless. She stood back when Anethae signaled her to cease her attack on the shade, watching her prod the shadow with the burning stick.

Well hell. Dark, light, the shadow, light from the fire...duh.

The drow's advice only further provoked her to rush over to the burning wood. Looking for a bit before finding one that wouldn't burn her, she picked out a piece of reasonable size of from the blazes and quickly made her way towards Coailiann. She stabbed at the shadow with the fire, hoping it in anyway actually helped.
