[ Just Another Face ]
Top Nuerologists have recently discovered that concious brain activity gives off extra electrical currents, and thus, raises the temperature the head is giving off. This has absolutely nothing to do with the following posts.

When Halycanos was finished strapping the bricks in, he looked up to Brass. "Wait till we get out there. At night, this place is a whole new view. The sand is really rather pretty at night." Standing, Halycanos grabs his pack and slings it onto his back, hefting it carefully. "Not to mention, all that broken glass from our fight."

Heading to the door, Halycanos mentions, loudly. "We need to be carefu from here on out. Sand worms could still be out there, not to mention most of the monsters wake up at night." And with that he left, not really offering Brass extra time to catch up.

Brass just sighed alittle and took one last look at the man's place. It'd be a good 12 hours before they got to the city and this was probably the last place anything comfortable would be. Right now, Brass was very happy he had another home in the desert city. He missed it so.

Finally, the man's voice broke through his daydream and he saw that he was already making his way back up the stairs towards the desert. Brass groaned and ran up behind him.

The sword was snatched from the ground as she sped by, and a good five feet later, she was rolling on the ground. Ending up in on one knee and holding the sword in her hands, the heat in the room calmed to a managable point as the sword recognized its master. Memories of a time long gone still filled her head... so many at once that it was almost impossible to hold them all in.

"Where are they? Where? I'm going to tear them all apart for what they did to-"

ruuvan
"Claire?"

Her head craned towards the man who spoke, slowly. He would see that her eyes were no longer blue... but an intense hazel. The eyes were as if they were liquid gold, the fires of the forge still burning on the surface. She saw someone else instead of Ruuvan, though... the blurrred image of one of her sisters. It didn't matter which one- they were all responsible.

She could not see their faces clearly- could not see the figures of their bodies. Everything in that battle was a haze of heat and fire as she struck, hearing and sensing attack after attack, until there was an attack she could neither counter, nor stop.

Cowards!

"There you are!"

And upon the first word, she ran towards Ruuvan, her stance low and her sword barely trailing against the ground. The blade was literally on fire now- she had command of the gemstone inside the hilt, and now could set the flamberge ablaze as if she were swinging a torch instead of a sword.

The aura of fire had been bestowed to the sword, and it burned just like anything else. The heat however remained around her person, as if it were an extra layer of armor to defend against what was coming. Whoever it was, this person was not going to get away this time!

Upon reaching his position, she swung her blade upwards so fiercely it carried her into the air along with it, trailing flames behind it.

Ruuvan

Ruuvan wasn't surprised to see someone who had just been released from a cage, though mental and not physical, go into a blind rage against those who had put them there. This was no longer Claire the Archaeologist; she had turned back into the Valkyre she once was and she wanted revenge against whoever locked her into that feeble form.

"No reasoning." Ruuvan muttered under his breath as Claire started her charge, the sword trailing behind and preparing for quite a hefty first strike. Even a Valkyre wouldn't heft such a weapon above their heads in a strike, so Ruu assumed it would be coming from beneath in an upwards arc, but back to the moment. Without hesitation, as he was now against the Guardian and not the woman he knew, Ruuvan released the arrow from his bow and immediately dived to the side. He had yet to see what this thing could do, so the first shot was more of a test than something to stop her. Once out of the way, Ruu quickly slipped the weapon onto his back and drew the Decker blades, preparing whatever she threw at him.

((DEAR GOD DID EVERYONE ON EARTH PURCHASE BOYISH!? gonk ))

The sky was still invisible, Halycanos having purposly placed his sanctum under the never ending sand storms. Halycanos had assured that Brass had an oxygene mask, ear muffs and goggles until they were out of the storm. Brass was lucky he wasn't blind or deaf from coming in the first time.

The first half hour of their trek was actually just walking out of the storm, but once outside, they were quite safe for the time being, and Halycanos removed his gear to tell Brass, "It's safe to take your mask and goggles off. Those earmuffs too. The desert is gonna be cold for the rest of the night. You need those earmuffs gone, 'cause we'll need all the senses we can get to detect any sort of beasts."

The man then turned back around, pointing upward to their north-northwest. "That gigantic red star is Strata Lighthouse. They made it like that so that the stars wouldn't be drowned out by a light for travelers heading away at night." And that was the end of his cautionary speech. The rest of their conversation would be friendly or perhaps mid-combative.

"Don't stray too far, Raven..." Sunstike said, watching her change, before throwing his attention back to Vahn and...the being running around in Tellus' body.

He shifted his position, muscels bunching before he sprang onto the railing, there was some breaking and poping sounds as his wings burst from his back, giving him extra leverage and balance. This completed he scaled up them far more easier then Vahn had, even though the toll on his body was twice as hard from the pain of changing.

Finally he came level to the hallway that his friend was about to enter, again he tensed before leaping like a cat, and landing in a skid on the other side.

Standing he dusted himself off, wings snapping shut with a final crunch.

"...Tellus..?"

He stared at the girl, not quite sure what to make of what was in front of him.

He slowly picked himself up off the ground, Efreet dragging along until it rested once more along his right shoulder.

"Are you...ok?"

Meanwhile...

"Malachi..."

Victor stood staring out at the blasted wasteland of desert before him. The balcony he was on was suspended hudreds upon hudreds of miles up the tower's length.

"Well?"

The slickening voice came from behind Victor, even as a lanky figure approached. He wore the same outfit as any of the others serving Victor, his white robes contrasting with the shattered remnants of a mask upon his face.

"Doesn't it excite you? Babel has revived. The great tower which once bridged this earth as the medium between heaven and hell. Isn't it a magnificent view? The greatest minds of their time, those who revered glory, constructed this glorious edifice. Now after two milleniums of confinement it can at last fulfill the purpose for which it was intended -"

Victor turned to the side, brushing past Malachi. "That's... none of my concern. Is he inside?"

Malachi seemed to pause slightly, as he stared toward Victor, his eyes showing a hint of anger. "Of course. He's taking his time. After all, it took you a great deal to unlock Babel yourself."

Victor smiled softly, even as he continued walking away.

"But he has no idea of its true puepose."

Malachi simply remained at the balcony, disgust on his face.

At that moment...

Within the main chamber, the chains that binded Antharas suddenly glowed a fierce hue of violet. Unseen runes activated, jolting the ancient one from it's slumber.

The chains buckled, even as it's massive head was thrown slightly back, opening into an ear-splitting roar which shook the very walls of the Tower itself.

The cry echoed out fiercely, as if a signal were being sent.

From those massive jaws, large torrents of black blood shot out. It literally rained black all about Antharas, even as shapes began to take form from that mist.

They went running along all fours, taking full shape and wasting no time, firece red eyes narrowed.

"Come on... we... don't have time for this right now."

He pushed forward, his hand taking hold of Tellus'. They were making some progress at least... now on what appeared to be the third or so level within the chamber. Straight ahead, Vahn could see a set of bloodred doors, wreathed by what looked to be crimson flames.

"....?"

He let go of Tellus' hand, even as he reached forward to touch.

He flinched nearly as soon as he had neared them.

"Aghh!" He shook his left hand furiously, more from surprise than actual pain.

It had hurt.

The fire had actually burnt him.

"What the hell..."

Growing angry, he looked past and saw a set of doors farther along the path.

Without a word, he jogged forward, deciding to try them instead.

He swore if it was locked, he was going to kick it down.

A twist of the knob, and it easily gave way, leading to what seemed to be a hallway.

"Well... better than nothing, right?"

He smiled faintly, even as he looked back to the three.

He entered.

Ruuvan
He had yet to see what this thing could do, so the first shot was more of a test than something to stop her. Once out of the way, Ruu quickly slipped the weapon onto his back and drew the Decker blades, preparing whatever she threw at him.

::Nothing. WHAT DO YOU MEAN NOTHING?! I mean nothing. The bow would pull back like no other bow Ruuvan had fired. It wasnt that the boy was super, it would just probably seem very familiar. But other than that, it would probably feel like every other bow he'd ever fired. The arrow flew, strong and true...and normal. And within 6inches of Claire it was vaporized by the flame aura into specks of tiny ash which seemed to vanish....well damn. Whats the use of having a mysterious benefactor deliver a weapon if it does nothing!

Almost immediately after the arrow dissolved...something would seem different. It wasnt major, it was like a voice in the back of Ruuvans head that seemed just far enough away that he could hear it speaking...but couldnt hear what it was saying. As an elf, thats saying something. One could make out from its tone though, that it was pissed....very very pissed. The voice sounded like a serious of angry screams muffled by cloth.

Obviously the screams went unanswered as Ruuvan couldnt understand them, but then commenced the jiggling. And that was meant in the truest form. It would likely, honestly, feel as if someone or something was alive in Ruuvan's breast pocket, and wanted out...immediately. It would thrash, and wrash, and jerk and pull violent as beams of brilliant white light shot out of the pocket from the necklace Ruuvan had tucked away there. The necklace of the Lightbringer. And it was living up to its name.

Would Ruuvan reach for the necklace? True, time was of the essence. Did he have the patience to face this curiousity? Did this curious thing have the time to wait for him? If Ruuvans hand even moved around the vacinity of the mouth of his breast pocket, the amulet would literally jump out of the pocket and into his hand as the actual chain of the necklace lasso'd itself around his neck. And the voice...instanty became as clear as day. It was female, it was loud...and it was pissed. And it seemed it knew exactly what he was thinking.::

You dont have time to wonder why! Just fire another before we fry!

Wherever this voice came from, it was right.

Ruuvan did not have much time. Undaunted by his evasion, she adjusted her position in mid-air, turning towards Ruuvan and pointing her massive blade downwards as she was at the apex of her jump. With that, she began to come crashing down on him sword first- all fifty pounds of it.

Of course, this wasn't entirely the only thing that would happen as she came down. The aura of heat that surrounded her would dissapate. Just not in the most peaceful way- it would outright explode from her person upon landing, expanding for a five foot radius before fading out completely.

Now then, this aura was enough to fry his arrow... which means it was capable of about 3000-5000 joules of energy. This much was enough to cause a few second degree burns if Ruuvan did not move out of the immediate area, and fast. Because she was making contact in less than three seconds.

The being was silent as she was all but dragged this way and that by Vahn. Silvered eyes looked around them, ever watchful and observant. She flinched however, for no reason that was discernable when Vahn released her, her fist tightening as if pained. For just a moment, Tijae spoke to Sun's mind. 'I'm sorry, lover, she's gotten stronger then last time.' before even the presence of Tijae's was gone from Sun's mind.

Glancing not behind her, she followed Vahn through the door, expectant and tense body but a serene smile upon her face that seemed unfazeable.

First his arrow simply disintegrated in the heat and now he had a female voice shouting at him, not to mention the fact the Guardian adjusted her momentum in mid-air and was now coming down directly towards him.

Regardless of the situation, Ruu had allowed curiosity to take over and reached to his right breast pocket, instantly bringing the necklace out and watching in amazement as it slipped itself around his neck. With the necklace now in its place, and hiding his form to take the Undead capabilities away from him, Ruuvan was left with his Elven speed and human damage threshold as the Guardian was coming towards him. Yes, he would fire another arrow, but getting out of the way was first priority, especially with the NightVisor technology in his eyepatch showing that the aura around Claire was extremely unstable and had a projection of a rather large explosion once she landed.

So, with this taken into account and his low stance already in place, Ruuvan darted off to the right from his current location, jumping after a few steps to send him a further seven feet from the area, equating to a total of ten feet from his previous location in ten seconds; oh how he loved the Elven blood. Once he had cleared the area, and avoided the heat wave explosion, he quickly stabbed his swords into the ground and drew the bow from his back once more, taking another random arrow from the quiver and notching it in place. Once again it drew back easily and he took a quick breath in, letting it free at Claire's main torso and waiting to see what this thing was capable of once and for all.

Claire growled in frustration and looked towards Ruuvan as he planted his blades into the ground. Her opponent's speed was quite impressive, but she had a few tricks up her sleeve as well. As he notched and fired, she rolled to her right, letting the arrow whizz harmlessly by.

As she evaded and withdrew her blade, she tightened her grip on the hilt, thus sending her energy through the weapon. The gemstone began to shine as it absorbed her energy, and she prepared for an attack. Her heated aura was gone for the moment- it would take a while before it came back again.

Knowing this, she would still go after him with everything she had.

"You... you trapped me in that darkness for centuries! Do you know how lonely it was!? How it feels to be helpless?"

She rose to her feet and pointed her blade towards Ruuvan, staring down the thin edge as if it were the sight of a gun...

::The voice spoke fast, but no faster than Ruuvans mind was racing.::

5000 years...I thought you forgot....

::The firey aura exploded outwards though he was out of danger the heat reached the wooden weapon.::

...Damn! This b***h is fleebing hot!

::He drew back the bow, and one could swear it was as if someone injected him with adrenaline. The bowstring pulled back as easily as you might pull your pants up. It was loose, and something, just an aura would tell Ruuvan it was happy...so happy. It didnt say it outwardly, but there was this feeling of belonging eminating from the bow, it was as if she was just ecstatic to be back in his hands. He alone could hear her shout as the arrow fired.::

Yeah! Lets show her what we've got!

::Zoom! The arrow soared at exactly 368mph. The average arrow flys at about 200...Ruuvan was obviously holding back. It was as if someone had just launched the thin shaft of wood out of a cannon. The sand around Ruuvans feet actually kicked up and blew forward launching the wooden shaft forward with immense speed.

If you blink...you'll miss it. After it .45 seconds, or about 3 ft. The once normal wooden arrow...shifted. An aura of blew enshrouded the bow from tip to arrow, there was no longer the shape of an arrow but rather a shaft of blew energy...cold blue energy.

Archery is not tag...its murder. The arrow wasnt holding back. It was a couple hundred degree's below zero...on the farenhiet scale. Infact, the valkryie would sooner melt the ground she was standing on, than she would melt the arrow.

Ruuvan didnt take the time to aim...the bow did. It aimed to strike, and spread, dispersing a cooling energy through her midsection. Its goal was not to kill her. But it would, if all went well, dispell the aura around her belly. More shots, would dispell more area's one arrow could only hit so much...But if all went well...it would have just made a weak point.

There would be no arrow wound, no puncture. And Ruuvan would immediately feel the click of the arrow returning to the quiver. And he would hear the giggle of the bow in his hands. Its grip had just begun to get a bit colder, the green grains in the wood were carefully switching to blue. And it spoke.::

Dont be such a bore...only one? I'm made for four!

The thing was... her aura was already gone.

Besides, the arrow was met by her burning blade, which was driven neatly into the ground with the flat of the broadsword facing forwards after Ruuvan had jumped backwards. However, the arrow did put out the flames that surrounded the weapon. She could always call up more, but for now it was just a sword.

Still, the attack had not reached its mark.

She had still stood after rolling to the side, and had regained her wide stance. Point while expressing her ire and focusing her anger... and then fire.

The gemstone flashed as a sphere of flames shot from the steel flamberge, enveloped in a heat that was equal to 2000 joules of energy. First degree burn. However, that was not entirely it... upon contact with a surface, be it Ruuvan or something else, the ball of fire would detonate for a five foot radius, spreading the head and flames outward.

The sphere of fire moved at a proper speed of 300 mph- enough speed to properly penetrate an armored target. The recoil from the shot was slight, and she was able to recover somewhat quickly, regaining control over the weapon only a fraction of a second later.

She fled immediately after the shot, not sure whether the attack would hit. She launched herself into the air, gripping the weapon again and lighting the gemstone in preparation of yet another blast...

*Rave was getting a little annoyed at the lack of good places to perch, but you couldn't expect ancient builders to have birds in mind when they built the place.. She drifted carefully above the group as Vahn tried a few different directions. She landed and changed back looking at the door, tempted to see if it would burn her as well." I wonder how they do that?

*shaking her head a bit she backed away from the burning door and headed after Vahn and Tellus again, for once not letting her curiosity get the better of her* xp
