Rina wasn't sure that she was going to attend the festivities, however, she had heard that there were some really good sweets there this year, so she decided she might as well see what it was about. She had always had a hard time making friends, but maybe she would find something interesting there to do, even on her own (with the caretaker of course). The first thing she managed to get were some eyeball candies, they weren't too bad either!
This was Korr's first experience in the outside world, and he was pretty excited that it was a festival! There were some activities surrounding this time of the year in the village, but nothing like this!
Ashai looked into her bucket, a bit surprised to see a couple candies in there already. She picked up the lollipop, carefully removing it's wrapper as she gave it a lick. It was actually pretty good surprisingly! She gave a brief smile at Lasia, though it quickly faded. Maybe being here wouldn't be too bad...
Lasia pretended she hadn't seen the smile, she knew Ashai wouldn't want attention drawn to herself, so she just let it go. Still, she was glad the little girl was having at least a little bit of fun, she definitely needed it. Lasia plucked the little ghost out of her pail, holding it up so Ashai could see it's goofy little face. "It's kind of cute, don't you think?"
Tolaram was very curious about the Hallows eve festival after all he had awakened in this spooky season, and it seemed to be the reason his parents had left him on the doorstep of the orphanage. Tolaram didn't really mind, he didn't remember them, so he didn't remember being sad about them not wanting him. The caretakers took such wonderful care of him, they were looking after him even now while he was out trick or treating. Tola stopped at the first place and said "Trick or treat." His tone respectful and soft. He had picked out a dark cauldron that he put his candy skull in when he received it. Then Tolaram went to go and play a game of pin the tail on the demon where he won a cute plushie.
Chau decided to check out the festival today he went up to one of the booths to play a game of darts he popped on of the balloons and grabbed a bag of skull candy as his prize. Then Chau went to sit down and eat some of his fun earned candy. He watched as others went by with their prizes and the freshlings trick or treating it looked like fun, Chau hadn't gotten a chance to go trick or treating when he was their age and he wished he had been old enough back then to go. Oh well he'd enjoy the festival now.
Candy Dandy was thrilled to be at the festival she turned and spotted a doll, she ignored it the first time, then she moved off to find a game to play. Then she saw the doll again, she shook her head nah, couldn't be the same doll. The third time she saw the doll she picked it up wondering if it was animatronic or magical?? CD decided she would take it home with her out of curiosity. Candy then came across a beautiful, mutated revenant that she decided she would take home with her, she could use a roommate of the fluffy sort.
The next house should have tipped Gilly off, as many kids were leaving it either in tears or vowing to return with eggs. She walked up to find a cranky-looking old demon who fixed her with a critical eye. "Hmph! Nope, don't like your costume! try harder next year, you whipper-snapper!" She dropped something small and round in Gilly's pail and shooed her away. Blinking, she reached in and pulled out...... "Augh! Yuck! It's an eyeball!" She blinked at Zoe and whispered. "I only saw one eye on her....d'you think......?" Suddenly she felt a tug on her costume's tail. She turned and saw Soop pulling toward a much nicer looking demon who was giving out plushies from a box. She eagerly ran up to grab one. "Wow, that's really cool!"
This one may not have been a nice person, but at least they didn't steal any candy or familiars from them. Zoe sighed as she looked at her 'gift' after the cranky woman criticized her costume ('Ooo, a MONK. How SCARY.'); a scary little bird skull that she'd just as soon not imagine how it was obtained. She wasn't too worried; she had plenty of other good treats; though she did feel a little sad that Gilly ended up getting the very last spider plushie from the nice demon. Oh well; the night was still young.
Ruari thought he had received the best treat yet when a shady-looking game of pick-the-right-card had given him a cool looking pumpkin goblet, but the instant he had tried to fill it up with water from a nearby stand, it crumpled and bent as though it were made of acid, and spilled every last drop onto the ground. Furious, Ruari would have thrown it into the bushes were it not considered littering on the grounds, so he just tossed the lump of crummy plastic in his pail and stormed off.
Azure was delighted to se a cute little bracelet in his pail, it wasnt pink but it was still very cute
Ew stale popcorn, she thought as she took a bite out of some of the popcorn, it was at the point she felt she had enough candy and began to make her way back home.
with Kahula's lost house for now she had reserved a cute little ghost"how adorable! " it had red spooky eyes and was creepy cute. perfect because it reminded her of her father.
Yet another beautiful green item for her pail. she was delighted but she quickly put it around her wrist to existed to wear it.
It was an adorable bracelet, with pumpkins on it . he felt it and smiled finding hes senses relayed its adorable shape as he put it on and continued forth
karasu had the lamp his mother had given him and a pail to keep his candy in as he rushed to join his sister in trick or treating she was done collecting but they stuck together while he got his first candy, he revised a cute but yummy bat
Tempo nodded, still smiling slightly. "I'm sure the bigger flying plushies were an absolute fright to deal with. But you're going to have to tell me: what is an air cannon?" Whatever it was, they didn't have anything like it at home. Most people sold merchandise sedately at shops and booths. The flying plushies were something new.
Princess? Tempo blushed; she was no princess. But she didn't refute the compliment out loud...that would be rude. She followed Yami to the candy apple booth and picked out her apple. "Mmm, my favorite. We used to make these every year at home. Some of us even got fancy and put candied bits or pie crumbs on them."
Nasaiki
Thayne spotted Layren, who didn't look like he'd dressed up at all and took off through the crowd. He bobbed and weaved through the people, knocking a lollipop loose from a cart and into his pail, and only barely slowed down enough to where the 'hug' he gave Layren was just short of a tackling body slam of death.
"You made it! What happened to your fluff?" Thayne stared down at the missing fluff before he realized what it looked like he was doing...staring at his friend's chest. "Did you get any candy yet? I didn't! I got a creepy a** turnip. See?" He reached in and pulled out the giant spider plushie he didn't realize he had and squeaked before realizing it was just a toy. "Oh. When did I get that? Oh, there's some candy." Thayne sounded confused at the lollipop he'd knocked into his bucket fell off the plush and back into the pail. "Where did all this come from?"
Zima didn't, at first, realize he was the one being spoken to. He looked at the person talking and saw that they were staring right at him. Blinking, he eyed the Grimm with surprise and distrust. Who was this? Why were they talking to him? They probably weren't going to hurt him, it turned out that most people didn't mind Geists as much as people back home said. Zima shrugged and did a quick scan to make sure he was really the recipient of this guy's attention.
"No." Zima said cooly, "I was just thinking how this festival is a disappointment compared to the last Haunted Hallows festival I went to. Why would I be happy about a sub-par event that barely gives out decent candy. The West Continent does this festival much better." He waved his hand to encompass the street and decorations as someone dropped candy corn into his pail.
Well, it looked like she was having bad luck this year. Another house gave her a 'trick' or at least not candy. She remembered the popcorn filled gloves from last year and wondered if they were the same batch. She was almost certain it was the same person giving them out, and this time they didn't have a nice plush to go with the nasty stuff. They probably thought the kids liked them. Wrong. Not only that, she hadn't spotted a single friend since she got here. She didn't think they got there that late. Maybe, if she could get some candy, she should go find a quiet spot and eat it. She'd already got a plushie, after all.
"Awww, it's so cute! But I think it's Hallowed. See? It only has one tail... and its eyes are glowing." Julie thought that it looked equal parts adorable and spooky. "What are you going to name it?" She asked as they went up to the next house. "Nebula? Glowy? Princess Sparkle Glitter?" Julie grinned down at the little Fey girl as she accepted a cute little paper ghost. Its tongue was sticking out, and Julie knew just where she'd place it. It was going to go fabulously as a window decoration to stick its tongue out at any passers by.
"Uh. No." Evelyn replied to the silly names Julie gave her. "I'm going to name him, it's a boy, Julie. I'm going to name him something else." Evelyn thought about the name as she also received a ghost. This one had a grumpy face.
"How about Constellation. Con for short. I like it." Evelyn said. The newly named Con hopped up on her shoulder and purred loudly. Seemed he liked his new name too.
Crowds were not Rune's strong suit. Honestly he didn't like going out during October anyway, but he couldn't miss the festivities. He had someone to meet. But seriously. The crowd was huge and he was clumsy at the best of times. Rune knocked into no less than five people by the time he'd traversed to the end of the block. He needed somewhere to sit and be out of the way. Looking around he saw a vendor for candied apples. He started towards it...then saw someone who was from Gin's rival gang. Oops, not going there. Rune stopped and turned around, running directly into someone. "Sorry, sorry, I didn't mean to do that." He said with a smile as he cursed Yami silently.
Rune made his way to a shop selling glowing necklaces. He grabbed one, then used the store as a shelter. He'd rather wait until he saw the guy than brave the crowds again.
Madla didn't really want to partake too much in the festivities this time around. She only came to chaperone her too crazy kiddos if they get out of hand. Maybe chat it up with a couple of friends. She went to a candy apple booth to take up some prime bench real estate and ordered an apple. Turned out she was the lucky winner of a turnip, though. "Good trick, friend." She laughed at the gross looking turnip. These came out every year.
Frostbite grabbed his free pail and free candy and entered the event. He was looking forward to trick or treating and maybe finding another lost familiar to give a home too.
“I think I vaguely remember these types of lockets. They opened up and excavated this house that then started to apparently have supernatural things occurring there and if I recall correctly. Well they found like this chest of lockets like this.” vanna stated dropping into a slightly spooky accent. It was a given he was going to wait for Ren.... especially since he had a feeling he was “….brother….” “Mmm Happy Haunted Hallows” Vanna said with a laugh. Teasing Mai was always fun. She was always bad against stories like that, although Vanna had cut out half the facts. Still with a good mood he accepted the plushie that was suddenly thrust at him.
It was a nice change to have friends, friends that actually bothered to wait for you and cared when you got into a pinch. Ugh yeah friends were nicer than classmates that left you trapped in a haunted house. Still he had met Frey so the night wasn’t all bad. Turning back to the task at hand Ren finally got all the goop out and was ready to return.
Only he was ambushed outside the bathroom and given a plushie…. Okay? That was a bit weird. With a confused look he walked back to his friends. oh... it was a bit chilly now that he had wet hair.
“Ah well I guess we can change, but then we can just go over to a couple of the vendors. One I noticed was selling lollipops and other stuff and he just restocked.” Mai replied happily. Of course it was about then Vanna started using his spooky voice.
Boys were impossible. She needed more female friends… but then the only female she had ever really gotten close with had been her sister and well she was probably never going to see Soriya again. With a sigh she almost absent-mindlessly licked her lollipop. It was there that something tugged on her leg and rubbed against it. Was that a… mutated Revenant? The Nezubat she had acquired seemed to cheep in answer to her thoughts.
Hmm she must really want to try it. Ah well it wasn’t as if he couldn’t work past things that were rigged, that’s why he was created after all. “Alright, alright we can try it. As for sky fish well it doesn’t look like we can keep them this time but considering the color you can get a prize” Salem added.
When he came down from the shock of the mini confession he rolled his eyes at Nashira’s comment. Still Samhain liked plushies and he was keeping the meeker personality from taking over at the moment, although Samhain was close to the surface. The person who had handed Nashira, handed him a paper ghost before running off.
"Even if we don't win, I'm sure it will be fun." She nodded, walking along with him towards the game. Oh, she hadn't missed the face Samhain... er, Salem, had made when she called the plushie cute. It was a shame she didn't have her camera with her tonight. That would have been one for the scrap book. "Hm, I don't think I mind not being able to take home a skyfish. I'm still trying to learn how to take care of the one I have. It likes to get into places it really shouldn't be. But that is their nature. I'm hoping to build a small tank for it to hide in. At least so it has a sanctuary from my pumpka."
When they arrived at the game to test one's strength, Nashira waited patiently for her turn. She didn't expect to do well. If she could at least get past "wimp" she would call it a win. At least the pair running the booth seemed nice. The guy handed her a mallet while the girl talked her through the rules. And with that, she took a swing as hard as she could and hit the hammer on the target pad. The little weight bounced up, just outside of wimp and into "Mama's Boy." The pair couldn't understand why Nashira was so happy. They handed her a skull candle holder as a consolation prize. "I made it out of wimp. I am quite pleased. Do you want to give it a try now?"
Kingston:
"Oh? I hadn't heard any of that." Kingston remarked, oblivious to the fact that Vanna was trying to be spooky... or perhaps just didn't pick up on the fact he was teasing his sister. Either way, Kingston thought it was more like a history lesson. "You could tell me more of this later? It sounds quite interesting." He nodded.
When he heard a squeak, Kingston looked back to Mai. "Oh! You seem to be attracting all sorts of little friends today. You really are the charming little lady." He looked at the revenant. "I wonder if I should have brought my own revenant with me. I think he would have enjoyed the festivities." Of course, he hadn't forgotten about his little fennekit still pearched on his shoulder. He tipped his head to gently nuzzle it, and the wisp that was in his bucket, possibly eating any magic on the candies.
"Hey, someone dropped a bag of chocolate skulls." He bent and picked it up just as he spotted Ren coming out of the bathroom. "Hey Ren. You alright now? ...You... what's with the plushie. You and Vanna in a competition to see who will get more?"
Vega:
Vega wanted to play all the games. He had just tried one, it had little ghosts floating in water and he picked one up and got some green gummy poo. It could have been worse. The boy before him had gotten a tooth. Who gives out teeth? He was about to sit down and sort his candy when he kind of tripped on something that shrieked at him and he dropped his bucket. What in the world...? He picked up what he thought was his red pumpkin bucket, but instead found he'd picked up a red and black pumpka. "OH! You looked like my candy bucket. Sorry." Even after putting the pumpka down, it followed Vega.
Meadow:
"Huh? Oh, you want to play skiball? Alright." He followed her eagerly, giggling a little as they went. At her boast, Meadow was about to say he didn't believe Aurelia would make the first ball in the 100 point hole... but was very glad he hadn't said anything as she did sink the first ball in the hundred... wait, the ball came back out. THAT was weird. "What did you do?" He asked softly as Aurelia tried another ball, then another, and they each came launching back out. Then a ball of light shot out at Aurelia's face. "AAAAAAH!" He jumped when she shrieked and grabbed the closest thing he could. He grabbed a green vespercat plushie and tried to smack the wisp off of her face. Woops... Wait a second. Did he just hit her? "Aurelia! I uh I'm...!" he flailed his hands trying to explain himself. The person running the game felt bad for both of them and gave Vega a glove full of popcorn too so he could match his friend. The guy was probably glad the wisp was not going to cause HIM any more problems...
Charon:
Haunted Hallows really was the best holiday. Charon found himself laying on a blanket with a couple girls and a pretty cute guy. They were taking turns feeding him candy corn. In a little while, he would probably trade positions with someone to lavish them with affection, but for now he was content like this.
Keahi:
Now that they'd had dinner and lots of sugar, Keahi found them self rather thirsty. Where was a drinking fountain when you needed one? Oh well, at least there was a stall that had cheap goblets of punch, juice, and water.
Newcomers!
Parfait:
This was her first Haunted Hallows, and Parfait was already loving it. She was running around from person to person with her bucket shouting "TRICK OR TREAT!" before running off, not realizing you needed to wait for them to give you something. Finally, someone was fast enough and before she was able to run away, dropped a cute little bracelet into her bucket. Free stuff? Woohoo!
Fiona:
Fiona was a little more reserved then some of her classmates who were running around SCREAMING at people. She wasn't totally sure what to do with her cute little green bucket, or the lamp she had been given. As her classmate was running around like a lunatic, Fiona walked up to a senior and held up the bucket. "Trick or treat?" She asked hopefully. this earned her a hair ruffle and a cute little bracelet as well.
Naosu sincerely hoped that wasn't an actual skull in her pail. She supposed she could decorate the house with it if it was fake, since Ichiru liked creepy things, but good grief! At least she could take home a plushie as well. That made this less terrible.
LOLLYPOP! Essei's eyes nearly bugged out of her head and she coveted her lolly as if worried someone would take it from her, then tried to fit the whole thing in her mouth at once. Ohh boy, lolly!
Ichiru was a bit jealous of Essei getting a lollypop, especially when his treat was a candy apple and just not as good, but he dutifully nibbled at it anyway and reasoned that at least it didn't taste too much like an apple.
Tobias took one bite out of the chocolate bar and found himself involuntarily yelling; "THIS IS THE BEST CHOCOLATE I'VE EVER PUT IN MY MOUTH." Mortified, he dropped the bar on the ground and tried to slink away as quickly as possible while everyone stared at him. Twelve help him, that was supposed to be a treat?!
Ryker grinned as two of his daughters flanked him. "What do you think girls, are you excited for the festival?" he asked as he grabbed a pink bucket and a lantern. "What do you wanna try first?"
Effie snickered at her dad and grabbed a bucket and a lantern for herself. "It's definitely exciting. And you're a super dork, daddu," she said and gave her younger sister a high five. "Let's start with a booth, huh?"
Parfait nodded and grinned. "That one! Right there!" she said and tugged her sister and dad toward the first booth she came to. She pouted a little when they both won a plushie, but her dad made it better by buying her a lollipop. "Thanks, dad!" she beamed and tore into it.
Ryker's Prizes
10/11: 3, Trick! And a Plushie! 10/12: 10/13: 10/14: 10/15: 10/16: 10/17: 10/18: 10/19: 10/20:
It was festival time yet again and Zeta was drawn out into the fray by morbid curiousity. She supposed, anyway. She picked up a cauldron bucket and blinked at the rattling inside. Reaching into it, she pulled out a rock. "Well, I guess that's my first trick," she muttered.
Dressed as an elegant skeleton, Pallas grabbed a bucket and a lantern and made her way to the first trick or treat booth. She took the paper bag with a smile and a "Thank you~!" before walking away to peek into it. It was a jar of...slime? She was definitely thinking trick for that.
Bobbidi was super excited. This was her favorite time of year! She quickly grabbed a bucket and a lantern and tried her luck at a game of chance. She lost, but the vendor handed her a prize anyway. When she grabbed it and it bent easily, she pouted. "Guess it's a booby prize," she huffed.
