Charm floated over the gate and way up out of the reach of the dopples, though they stretched and tried to reach her. She noticed the winged knight follow behind her, and was grateful she read him correctly. "I think the longer we wait on those girls, the harder it is to get my friend back." Charm noted. Leif didn't say anything back, but glided along with her. He was quiet, oddly serious all of a sudden, his posture and face looking much more determined to fly and find the one now calling herself DV. Guys look so different when they are serious. They noticed a loitering figure dressed in blue armor below, and landed quietly. "I'll try to talk to her. I don't know what you plan is...but I'll get out of the way if need be." Charm said. "Hey, Hydro!" Charm called to her. "I need to talk to you." DV looked daggers at the Angel Imp. "What? Why do you show up when it's all of a sudden good for you? What do you want, Charm, I'm busy." "Busy with what?" "There is an energy below this town. One that will soon surface and tear this place apart. I'm trying to get these people evacuated, but noooo people won't listen to me. They never listen...." DV's head was cocked to the side as she talked. Charm thought of a marionette as she rolled her head to the other shoulder. "My master is trying to prepare this place for it's eventual change. Foolish senshi sealed her with energy long ago and now the seal is faulty..." "That doesn't matter! I came to help you." "She says you aren't. Go away, Charm." "Please!" Charm pled but DV turned her back to her. Charm, desperate, threw the locket at DV's head, and it bounced off of her. "What the hell is this?" DV looked at and grabbed the locket. "It was supposed to be a gift from your father."

While Cae was busy in the kitchen, Cel tracked Lunette down in her temporary reading room sanctuary. Cel didn't bother to knock. She opened the door to find Lunette standing at the window, arms folded across her chest in brooding silence as usual. The young woman radiated anger.
*sigh* I can tell she's going to need constant redirection and monitoring, Cel though as she crossed the room.
I don't want to be bothered right now, Lunette said, not so oblivious as Celestine had thought.
I can see that, but isolation is not always the answer. I have no idea what happened during your first training session, but obviously things went a bit south. Caelen is busy and not really in a frame of mind to talk about it at the moment, so I think you had better fill me in, Cel said with some degree of authority, getting straight to the point.
Lunette scoffed and replied dryly, Not in a frame of mind? I bet. Not enough of a conniving sadist is more like it. I'm through dealing with him.
If Lunette was hoping to be left alone to seethe, she was gravely mistaken. Cel wasn't one to just give up. The crystalmancer strode over to where Lunette stood stiffly by the window.
I have known Caelen far longer than you, and on a much more intimate level. I can say with absolute certainty he is no sadist. He hates what he is with a passion, so much so that he refuses to use his abilities for the most part. He's not one to act without a good reason.
No good reason? Oh, so viciously attacking me and messing with my head is justified? You know, I thought you were halfway sane, but I guess that demon has you fooled too. He's just another lowlife Hellspawn looking out for number one and getting his kicks off of fooling everyone here. He doesn't care about anyone.
That statement was sharp, and struck a nerve, which didn't happen often with Cel. She grabbed Lunette by the arm, forcing her to turn around and look Cel in the eyes.
I put up with an awful lot as a high priestess. I can deal with the nay saying and idle gossip of others directed at me, but under no circumstances will you take such a judgmental and callous attitude toward Caelen! You have no idea what his life has been like, the Hell he's gone through in trying to do what is right, only to have both mortals and his own kind alike wish him dead. You have not seen how hard he has worked to try to get the leaders of Barton to understand that he is here to protect them. All he gets in return is scorn and fearful glances. I'm sorry that things did not turn out quite right in training, but perhaps instead of blaming him for all of your misfortunes, you need to stop and consider your own faults and attitude. You have a bad tendency to only see things form a very jaded point of view and not look at the bigger picture, and then you blame others for what results. That is going to get you nowhere real fast.
That mouthful said, Cel stepped back a pace to let her own emotions settle. She had been dealing with the negative attitudes directed at Caelen ever since she met him. While she did not want yet another person to cast their vote on the negative side, she also needed to get through to Lunette so she'd give Caelen another chance to help her train. Cel rubbed her temples in frustration.
Lunette turned back toward the window. She stared out on the grounds lit by the late morning sun. Her petty side just wanted to let the crystalmancer's words go in one ear and right out the other, but the part of her that was better than that knew she had crossed a line and made unfair accusations and conclusions with no basis. Lunette spoke after a long silence.
If he's so blasted benevolent and kind, then why did he outright injure me?
Cel raised an eyebrow and gave Lunette a once-over, not noticing any physical damage.
I see no injuries on you.
That's because he voodooed them away. Lunette replied, annoyed.
If he took the time to heal any injury he inflicted, then it means he felt great remorse at having hurt you. He does not heal those he he dislikes and has quarrel with. Believe me, he would not have hurt you if he knew the damaged could not be undone. He likely also knew the greater damage would be emotional, and risked a rift between you two because he deemed the bigger picture to be worth the emotional strain and lost trust. He wants to fight the darkness as much an any of us. He wants you to be prepared to battle as well. The saying goes that you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. The deeper into this war we go, the greater and more frequent risks we will all have to take. Lunette, please give him another chance. I guarantee you, he's angry at himself for going to such lengths. However, you are one to resist much. You've got to start letting go of your insecurities or you will never learn how to be a warrior...or a good friend. Caelen is really the only one here who can help you, so I suggest you not be so hasty to push him away.
Lunette continued to stare out the window, mulling it over for a few minutes.
You really believe that? Lunette asked as she turned to face Cel once more.
Celestine smiled and nodded.
Yes, I really do. Come on, let's go to the kitchen. It's still a bit early for lunch, but I'm sure Caelen feels bad enough about the whole ordeal that he'd fix a feast if you asked. Besides, I could use a cup of tea.
I'm not really hungry, but I guess tea is OK, Lunette said and shrugged.
Cel and Lunette left the reading room and headed toward the manor kitchen.

Feeling it was necessary to begin sooner than later; Lorelei went over to Seren. "It seems as though you're ready? Would you like to be the first to volunteer for this test? The first task is to focus your energy within, so that you may transform. Once you have completed that task, we can proceed with combat training." She looked back at the other girls, making sure they were paying attention. "Remember, the sooner we can have all of you fighting, the better. The dark waits for no-one."

With the majority of the manor guests outside for lessons, the inside of Barton manor felt almost empty. Had it not been for the fact that Caelen and Miss Kagura were in the kitchen busily attending to whatever tasks they had chosen, Lunette would have been inclined to think she had been left alone in that vast fortress. And of course there was the mysterious crystal mage. If time permitted at some point, Lunette was interested in learning more about this "crystalmancy” Celest had mentioned the previous day. Lunette had let her thoughts, not to mention her eyes, wander so much that she nearly ran straight into the kitchen door. Celest’s attention span was thankfully much better, thus allowing her to open the door wider when she saw that Lunette was on a crash course for wood in the face. Uh, not to interrupt your thoughts, but it might be best to pay attention to where you are going. Teehee! Celest pointed out to Lunette, unable to contain a small giggle. Lunette did a double take and looked confused. Huh? Hey, how’d I get in here already?! Cel lost it. The mage laughed so hard that it would have been impossible for Kagura and Caelen, already in the kitchen, to not take notice. Caelen chuckled at Celest’s child-like laughter, but the moment he noticed Lunette standing a few paces away from Cel, the butler’s grin disappeared. He silently returned to working on the lunch prep. It’s amazing how one solitary event can change the whole atmosphere of a place. Silence might have been the domineering essence of that kitchen had not one small, but relatively routine thing occurred at that moment in the kitchen. Caelen had a habit of leaving the window just in front of the large counter area open to let in fresh air, especially if he was working with ingredients that had strong odors. It was nice for letting in a good breeze on a day much like that day, but it also meant other things could get in too, and as luck would have it something did get in. A small object floated in through the open window from the back gardens. It buzzed around for a moment at the counter where Caelen was chopping fresh tomatoes but lost interest and caught sight of Lunette….or rather her mass of black hair. The object zipped over to Lunette and flitted excitedly around the girl’s head. Lunette swatted at the object thinking it was some sort of oversized bee. The object dove suddenly and landed on Lunette’s head. Lune squeaked in fright and grabbed whatever it was that had alighted on her, holding her closed fist at arm’s length as she opened her hand to see what critter had the nerve to land on her. Eep! What the heck is this!?!? The thing in Lunette’s hand was not a bug, but a small person, no more than three inches tall. The poor thing looked a bit worse for wear having been caught so roughly. The tiny being got itself back together and then angrily shook its miniscule fist at Lunette. It flew up right in front of Lunette’s face and blew a raspberry, then flitted off toward the dry goods pantry. Cel had been stifling a giggle behind her hand the whole time, and Caelen had seen the reflected image of what was happening through the window glass. Even he had to admit it was funny. Shaking his head in mild amusement, Caelen took the chance that maybe Lunette had calmed down enough to not start yelling again. That was a sprite. It’s not unusual for them to fly in through the window on a regular basis seeing as there is a colony of sprites living in the back gardens. I discovered this by chance not long after I began to work here. I left a window open and one of those little things flew in and started buzzing around. Inevitably it went for the dry goods pantry, which up until then had always been kept locked. That day I learned that common locks are no challenge for sprites. They have an uncanny ability to open locks. From that day on the door had remained unlocked. Anyhow, they come in to look for food. It really isn’t a problem since they are such small creatures and one little grape will have them stuffed in no time. Strange though, they’ve been going for the provolone cheese lately. Either that or we’ve got a mouse problem. Caelen looked toward the pantry, a quizzical look on his face. True to what Caelen had said, the little sprite flittered out of the pantry. It wasn’t flying so smoothly this time though. It wobbled like a plane that couldn’t make up its mind whether it wanted to go left or right. The sprite made an odd little squeak, twirled dizzily toward the open window, and fluttered out. Eheh, those grapes may have started to ferment a bit. Poor thing, hope it’ll be alright, Caelen said, scratching the back of his head in a guilty sort of anime manner. Even Lunette had to laugh at the whole scene. I really shouldn’t laugh, but that was too funny. At least now we have a sure way to tell when it’s time to start pressing the grapes for wine Cel said. Lunette shrugged and gave a half grin. Cel went and sat down at the large kitchen table, giving Caelen a pointed look as she passed him. Caelen sighed, getting the hint. Um, Lunette? I… Caelen paused, not really sure how to say what he needed to say. Lunette cocked an eyebrow in curiosity and looked at Caelen. The butler seemed conflicted. Finally, he sighed and bowed his head in resignation. There isn’t much I can say besides I am sorry. Even that will not change anything. I know you don’t know me all that well and therefor have no real reason to trust me. I will not deny that. But I can honestly say I don’t want you to feel stuck or incapable of fulfilling your part in this struggle….or achieving your goal. I want you to succeed. Please, allow me to have another chance to help you. I will not engage in combat until you feel you are ready for it and then only on your terms.Lunette cocked her head sideways, considering what the butler had just said and what the crystal mage had said earlier. Stubborn may have been Lunette’s defining characteristic on the surface, but it wasn’t the sum of who she was. Beneath that cold wall of indifference was common sense and enough humility to admit when someone else was right, even if it took a long time. Straightening up and going into her more normal indifferent stance, Lunette looked cockily at Caelen, but her grin was genuine. Tea. was all she said. Caelen looked a bit confused. He glanced over at Cel to see if she had any inkling as to what Lunette meant. Cel merely winked. The wave of relief that washed over Caelen was almost tangible. Returning Lunette’s honest and forgiving grin, Caelen bowed and happily set about making tea.

Lorelei nodded gently to Seren. "Alright, can you think of anything in particular that you would readily carry with you? Perhaps a trinket?" Her eyes traced the area for anything that stuck out. She noticed a small charm on the girl's bag. "Where did you get that charm?" She pointed. "Is it of significance to you?"

Oh this? Seren asked in surprise, as she reached down to unhook it she continued Well yes it is kinda important, my grandma gave this to me the other day. holding out the charm in the palm of her hand she showed it to Lorelei It's from the village she's from and one of the few things she has left from there.____________________________________________________________ Kagura watched the scene in the kitchen with an amused expression on her face, it was good Cel and Cae in better spirits. And it appeared Cel had gotten through to Lunette after all, though she was sure this would not be the end of it but she hoped Lunette could see they were all here for her. Oh tea sound's quite good, I have a nice variety of scones in the back if anyone want's some as well

Leif floating delicately in the air looked at Dv with a slightly cocked head before looking skyward and speaking as if addressing a passing bird. well your master maybe foolish but is prudent enough to push an agenda. that said ive spent long enough idly watching the waves and clouds to let anyone reshape things in to darkness. . . . closing his eyes and sighing with a bit of a bitter tear running down his face Leif touched his eyes with a hand that began to pool energy and shimmer the with last bit of light his tired eyes would see.
so id like to make a request if you get rid of those pesky dopples ill help you evacuate this town either-wise ill be forced to expunge that darkness from your heart.

((I have a bit of a jump here because I don't want to write out Leif's and DV's fight without Bru, so I'll leave it open if he wants to recount it himself. The important things are there, and he did write Leif's parts I am just posting them)). Charm looked up, dazed, and looked at her hands. Something had happened, and she couldn't see what right away. She had her full form back again. That probably knocked her out, the forced change, but that meant someone unbound her form. Everything was still coming back into focus. Gentle feathers floated in the air....then a form came into view... ~ After his last round of Energy, Leif descended to the ground with a solid thud; His ears were ringing in his head like wedding bells as his vision went double for several moments at a time. Trembling before falling to his knees Leif spoke in a soft hushed tone before shutting his eyes trying to clear his vision, "I . . . I hope she's still standing after that. though to be honest I'm not sure anymore...please... please be all right friend, I wish not to have struck you down but have burnt that darkness from your heart." Slowly opening his eyes Leif was welcomed to the darkness of the sightless abyss. Quickly tears formed in his eyes as Leif's hands trembled collecting the tilled ground underneath him a soft whisper like voice came from him. "If this is the price i must pay to bring you back, then i shall gladly bear this burden. Though it pains me so much to never see the smiles on my friends faces...it will be inconsequential...please forgive me Lorelei...I don't know if you're at the manor, worried sick but I'll be home soon." Falling to his face as his body gave out Leif lay in the tilled ground, breathing peacefully as his amber eyes turned a soft blue as if to proclaim there lack of use anymore. ~ Charm shook the unconscious's man's shoulder with her hand. There was no waking him. "Please, please be okay. I couldn't stand if another person got hurt because of me." And her full form had been returned to her. She didn't know why or how. But at least they could get out of there, she'd carefully look over Leif for now, for all the help he'd just given her in trying to reach Hydro. Who wasn't around by the looks of things, there was quite a bit of rubble. What had happened? Charm couldn't recall, but it seemed Leif had indeed been in a fight with DV, because there was her, armor worse for wear, stumbling toward them. ~ DV moved out of the rubble, coming out of a daze. "Ugghhh, what the hell." She stood, very, very unstable and moved. Her swords were gone, and she clutched the locket, the one Charm had thrown at her head, in her hand. She began to walk over to Charm, and the unconscious young man. She lifted her arm and intended on using it as a blunt instrument, her eyes wild with mixed emotions. NO! Stop! Please, I beg you, don't! Please, don't hurt him! Please think of the kindness of this world. Remember your friends! Remember the little dragon you love so much. Please, don't hurt these important people!DV halted, stopping and looking around. A different voice, not the one of her Mistress. It rang with desperation, and she lowered her arm in her response. DV looked at Charm and the tattered mask fell off her face. "Charm? Is that you? Where...where is Yin? Where is he?!" A compassionate voice befell the dark warrior's mouth, "ahhhh," she grabbed her head with her free hand. That is nothing for you to be concerned about, my pet.DV shook her head, and turned and ran all out, her mind full of confusion. ~ "Dammit. Leif, we almost had her." Charm said, trying to help the man to his feet. Even unconscious, she could at least move him out of the rubble over to an alley way where they could take shelter for a bit. She waited quite a bit for him to rouse, but when he did, she helped him walk, her strength greater than a normal human's but not quite strong enough to keep Leif perfectly steady. "We almost had her. She asked about Yin, that's the old Hydro I know...we're so close." Charm was wondering why she was granted her proper form, and it would be something she'd eagerly look into as soon as the kind man was back in safer hands. "Someone is going to scold us for sure." She noted aloud and they stumbled back to the manor. ~ Slowly shaking his head in protest Leif gave Charm a look as if to say though 'I cant see you, I can still talk a way out of this, just follow my lead and let me sleep for now'. Gently climbing the stairs with his eyes mostly shut and a fair amount of help from Charm, Leif slunk back in to a bedroom he was occupying before digging in to his bag of stuff. Curiously, Oscar noted the lack of vision in his larger companion and kept brushing against his hand as if to give a bit of a pointed direction; though slightly painful Oscar had lead Leif to what he was looking for- - a bit of coal and even applied it to his face gently before wiping his paws in the chips. As far as anyone would really know, other then Charm, Leif would look like he was shoveling coal most of the day. ~ Charm stood at the door a moment, "Thank you, Leif." Poofing back into her smaller form, Charm fluttered off to find a phone. She needed to call home. Something was very wrong if she were allowed to return to her proper form without serving out her penance.

Feeling the cave shake as small stones fell from the ceiling, Nyk instinctively curled his wings in a sphere around Melinda and himself as a few larger rocks caused a serious depression before the arch demon struggled to toss it away. A deep growl came from the dusted and roughed demon as he snarled. "I can feel a shift in this place, What ever that was... it had tremendous force to it. id bet this might be able to take a few of those but not many more... Though the real question is are you all right?" it was clear it took a second for Nykyrian to ease back to a rather passive state as the dust settled and the cave returned though slightly more damaged then before. a small new pocket had been formed on the outer reaches offering a tempting notion. Melinda was most startled by the fact Nyk bothered to shield her with his wings. She was only passively trying to influence his mind, so she didn't know what to expect in terms of tempering his mind to be loyal to her. So far, it hadn't been much work or resistance. Still, trying to control a demon's mind was playing with fire and she was being overly cautious. However, as far as the structure starting to collapse, this was good news. So she smirked at him, feeling more confident as her plan to break the seal on her was starting to bear fruit. "I am fine. I am actually pretty good right now." And she started to laugh manically for a moment. Speaking in a soft knightly tone, " Well if only we could figure out what that was and deal with it in a timely manner. but right now shall we retire to the main chamber in case the volley continues?" Nykyrian feeling feathers fall to the floor gently swaying as the arch demon used one of his wings like an umbrella to brace as the Arch demon kept his thoughts to a meditative stare as the demon toyed with magic and felt it struggle before taking a fluid light bounding between the demons hands as if fascinated by it. "I hardly care about it." Melinda said, "This structure is only a flimsy shell that's been in the way. I need to get to my energy nest proper so I can channel up the last parcel of energy to my little soldier that'll finally create an opening."Suggesting something rather devious with a sense of tact used, "Why not incite one more good swing of the hammer to knock down the wall. Right now I can manage a bit of trickery on the surface but it will take energy I do not have but i think we can work together to achieve." Nyk simply kept his head down as if patiently waiting an answer. Melinda placed a finger to his lips. "Timing." Melinda said simply after thinking a moment. "It's all about the timing." The structure shook move violently and more pieces were falling. Melinda presented a small gem in her hand, it shone a soft blue. Then, compressing her choatic energy around it, she transported it to the surface. She staggered, feeling faint. "I've given her the last piece to break it...now...we...just need to be ready...." Melinda didn't want to collapse in front of this demon, and fought to stay conscious. "Honestly, I need you to keep whatever strength you've got." She didn't want to say it, but she was starting to rely on him.

(Huge time-skip after training, receiving all knowledge of powers/awakening/transformation; now at dinner) Lorelei re-sheathed her sword and smiled at the young girls. "Okay, I think that's enough training for today. I'm certain you all are hungry. I am as well, how about we all head inside for some dinner?" Even though Prim was not under her guidance, Lorelei motioned for her to go as well.

Rolling off the bed with a thump and a loud growl in his stomach as the tired man got to his feet. Oscar, i think its time for dinner . . . . now the real question is can we still cook something edible? ah well will figure it out. picking up his small stalwart companion and resting him atop his head Leif * quietly * plan to slink down stairs before tripping and rolling down to a stop at the bottom with oscar sharking a tiny head as if asking " what did you think was going to happen after the first step went wrong!?". feeling for the bit of sass from his companion leif took the cue to try to act somewhat more rational and get some sort of food from the kitchen which was resulting in a large tablespoon of cinnamon and a disapproving hedgehog wondering if now was the time to tell his partner or never.

Charm was still thinking about the encounter with the giant cat woman as she'd searched for the phone. She nearly leaped out of her feathers when she saw her, towering over. Even if Charm had been using her full form, that one would've towered over her still. She flew away as fast as her little wings would take her and swore off the downstairs for life. "Why is the world insistent on scaring me out of my wits today," she muttered under her breath. She'd all but forgotten the fact she wanted to get to a phone. "Let's see, though, I don't have a lot of my potions left over. Maybe Caelen would allow me to make more for teleporting and all that. I'd like to give some to the girls if at all possible..." Charm sighed, wondering what was going on at home now that her wits had made a return. She heard a playful squeak and saw Yin holding onto what looked like a sprite. Charm came over and freed the tiny thing and took Yin with her tail and began to rock him like she'd done before. It was getting late and certainly he needed to be calmed down a bit for some sleep. "Maybe I shouldn't call home...I'm still worried though. What is going on?" Unlike Charm, Yin wasn't ignoring his stomach and flew back to the kitchen to find a bite to eat. Charm floated, wanting to retreat to her thoughts. DV wanted a retreat from her thoughts. "Get out of my head." DV whined, clutching her temples. "Now, now my pet we're so close to finishing this.""No! I won't do it." "Now, now, I have a little gift for you."A blue stone appeared before DV's eyes, and she could tell it was full of the negative energy. Enough for another negative point to be created. "That will create the last dark energy point. That way I can come up there and control the energy. You won't have to worry about your gatekeeper duties any more after that.""But you want me to betray Ayel."

Lorelei made a glance to Leif whom had just entered. She went along with his act, but knew full well it was a charade. She would question what happened to him later, but for now she kept her calm. "Ah, Leif. Glad you could come. I was worried when I left you. Could you not have at least washed up for dinner?" She poked. She was slightly joking, but was also a bit serious. He looked like a wreck. She was worried, but made light of it. She didn't want to start a panic in front of the girls. It was bad enough DV was still out there, and with Hydro captive. Prim's stomach had growled something awful. Right now all she could think of was food. She patiently waited for everyone to be seated, and for dinner to be served. It was killing her though, she even started to chew her napkin in anticipation.

trying to fight back a few tears as leif set down the spoon and slowly felt his way to the sink to wash up a sad and rather self-evident truth came forth with out a single word. struggling to keep his optimistic tone of voice S ... Sorry i cant seem to stay out of trouble, this one seems to have a knack for it. he said with a soft laugh and sneeze at some of the cinnamon wafting around the kitchen. turning slowly to face her after having washed up with a small spot on his cheek his once clear amber eyes had turned to a function-less sky blue as all he could do was smile and try to be brave as his facade slowly started crumbling down like a snowman in the first warm days of spring
