"I... actually have an idea for that, but we'll need to head to the jewelry store," Phobius mused.
Harry soon joined Hermione and exited the store with her, obediently following her since he had no idea where he was going.

"I was just going to get him a chocolate cake," Harry freely admitted.
Phobius entered behind her before starting to look in an aisle marked "Traditional Courting Jewelry".

"It's Pureblood tradition that, when a male intends to court someone, they give their would-be girlfriend a piece of jewelry that has the birthstones of the two would-be lovers - in this case, a sapphire, since Hermione was born in September, and a pearl, since I was born in June... though I'm attempting to find one with a black pearl, since frankly a normal pearl represents purity that I don't have. It's also traditional to have the would-be boyfriend's family motto somewhere on the piece of jewelry, but I haven't decided whether to do that one yet. If I can't find anything, though, I can just get the stones and have Mitis do some last-minute metalworking - he's good with metal." He glanced over Katherine, adding in case she didn't get the long explanation, "Basically, I'm getting Hermione a piece of jewelry that essentially makes our relationship official in terms of Pureblood tradition and will also serve as a 'hands off, she's taken' to anyone who does know said tradition."

Phobius smirked slightly, firmly ignoring the faint blush he was sporting at the mention of him being 'sweet'. "Well, I figured I might as well dumb it down for you a little just to make sure you understood - Hermione and I are the brains of the group, after all," he replied neutrally, only his small smirk and the amusement in his eyes revealing that he was teasing. He soon found what he was looking for, a gorgeous silver necklace; in the front was a lovely crystal matching Hermione's eyes, and on either side of the crystal were two sapphires and two black pearls.
Harry, meanwhile, had found the cake section. He glanced over at Hermione questioningly. "Er, do you think I should get him a regular cake or an ice cream cake?" He asked uncertainly; granted, he knew Phobius would probably enjoy the ice cream cake more, but there was always the chance that the Stasis Charm on the frozen treat might wear off ahead of time and cause it to melt.

(PMS special? Are you aware of how that sounds? xd )

"It's a good thing I wasn't lying, then - after all, I seem to recall a certain someone and her boyfriend pulling some rather idiotic stunts during their first flying lesson, not to mention a certain scar-faced boy shoving his wand up a troll's nose... and I don't mean Mitis," Phobius said airily before smiling faintly. "And good - I refuse to have my first Christmas present to my girlfriend be anything less then perfect."
Harry nodded before doing just that, buying the cake with a small smile.

Phobius just smirked slightly and nodded before heading up to the counter... and then staring blankly. "...Mitis? Weren't you at the wand shop a moment ago?"
"Why yes, yes Mitis was. Mitis fail to see Minion Boogeyman's point," was a certain pyromaniac's cheerful reply.
Phobius stared blankly a moment longer, then shook his head and chalked it up to Mitis being... well, Mitis. He proceeded to pay for the courting necklace, Mitis taking the money with his usual cheerful, crazed grin and putting it into the cash register.

Harry blushed, but nodded firmly with a small, shy smile on his face.

"When he pulls off stunts like this, it's best not to think too hard. Just go with 'it's Mitis' and try to minimize the mental scarring," was Phobius's flat reply.
Mitis tilted his head, blinking innocently, though the giant mallet/sledgehammer he always carried over one shoulder rather ruined the image. "But mental scarring fun... not as fun as fire, but fun."
