Hel was probably about to lapse into a review of all that had happened so far as well. She was probably about to start brooding as well, until clink sound of spurs invaded her thoughts. Well…there was only one being in the group who had those! The song died on the valkyrie’s lips as the foot steps grew louder and closer, and she lifted her head off of the wall as Mot came into view and then…took a seat beside her?
Thus Hel went down the road of bewilderment.
The reaper’s brows furrowed as he uttered her name, and her mind oh so helpfully supplied her with you’re disgusting, while her stomach seemed to plummet. Had to give her credit though…she was quiet, and she was listening, and further down the road of bewilderment she went as her eyes widened before she blinked. He was…apologizing? Hel was stunned and she didn’t know what to think or feel at this moment, but the feeling of petals against her fingers shook her out of the stupor, and she glanced down at the flowers he pushed at her before looking back up at him, her brows furrowing more. Weird…he was…giving her flowers…her fingers absentmindedly reached to touch more of the petals.
“…You…” Hel started in a hushed tone, more than fine to keep this conversation between themselves as well. “…You can…tell me I disgust you with your hat off…but…you must have it on now?” Why was she nitpicking about the hat now? Because she could.

Mot gulped, waiting for Hel to finish her thought. The point she brought up was a good one, and Mot all too readily removed the hat from his head, the crown still stuck on it as well.
"No, I don't.." Mot shook his head, setting it down and turning himself to face Hel properly. "You aren't disgusting Hel. I'm disgusting for ever having called you that." The reaper spoke with complete honestly, bashfully staring into Hel's eyes to assure her he meant it.

Lost was the only way to describe how Mitsu felt at this moment. She stared at the concave side of her mask for a long while before she gaze shifted to Shun once again. He still hadn't turned around, still hadn't looked at her. She felt ashamed for a crime she hadn't even known she had committed. What should she do or say?
The words were lost to her, this situation was too new, she had no experience with it. All she knew was that in her hand lay a small key to escape. "I'm...sorry." She whispered. What she was sorry for she wasn't entirely sure but she felt the need to apologize even if it was barely audible.
Just as Shun had summoned his daggers to tend to Mitsu brought her mask up to her face replacing it after such a long time. It felt odd now, almost like it didn't belong, but she was unwilling to take it off. Especially now that the tears had started to run down her cheeks again. At least now they couldn't be seen and she was sure to remain quiet as she took a seat on the floor drawing her knees up to her chest. She wanted to go home.

Further down the road of bewilderment she went! She was baffled by how quickly and readily Mot took off his hat, as she had expected some kind of hesitation, but none, what so ever. He even turned more towards her, and Hel just harbored a surprised look on her face at his words and expression. She found herself locking gazes with him, and feeling…bashful as well? They were talking about feelings…and he was looking at her…eyes were the gate way to the soul and all that blah blah blah.
She stared at him before the hand that wasn’t touching the flowers reached up to rub behind her neck. “…Bah…” Hel glanced away from him for a moment. “…Let’s not…get caught in that cycle of…who is and who isn’t…because I…don’t think you are, either…” She…should say more…wanted to say more…just…wasn’t sure how to say more yet…she was working on it though!

Mot smiled, a real smile. His eyes scrunched up from the sheer wideness of it, a small twinkle, a glimmer of happiness returning. "You don't, huh?" He seemed relieved, and chuckled lightly. "I was so worried you were mad at me. I like you Hel, and I don't want you to be upset with me."
Truly, losing a friend was the reaper's big fear and worry. His friends, all of them, were just too precious to lose. Having gone for so long in the house believing he might have lost one made him sick with worry.

And there he went smiling, smiling so genuinely that it touched his eyes. For this moment, the house, the hunters, the horsemen, this field trip…it all seemed to take to the back seat for now. This was also making her stomach do weird things. The reaper opened her mouth to speak, and what came out was no where near intelligible. Oops, Hel just word vomited! The ghoul scowled softly to herself, pursing her lips for a moment before shifting so that she was facing the cowboil as well.
She took a moment to recollect her thoughts, which had just leapt at her all at the same time. “…No…I wasn’t mad…I was….” What was she? Sad…yes…hurt…yes…when Mot said he liked her though, well, a small blush couldn’t help but pop up on her pale side and she glanced away again. Er…it probably didn’t mean anything but…yeah. The reaper fell silent again for the moment. She wanted to say something…but…saying I’m sorry didn’t seem to fit with her right now. What was she sorry for? Did she mean it? Ah wait…the Lizzy comments…yeah. She…wasn’t sorry about those though. She did mean them, as spiteful as they were…but…it hadn’t been with the sole intention to hurt Mot…she had been lashing out because she was upset. Hel sighed, deeply.
“…Earlier…in the main room…ah...I wasn’t laughing at Mitsu…because I was mocking her I was laughing because…I felt touched by her efforts...I tried to explain this to you but…you overlooked me.” For Lizzy. Hel’s brows furrowed. She was going somewhere with this, honest! “…Er…” Hel huffed. “…I…never meant to cause you harm.” Err well...she did...but at the same time she didn't? It was hard to explain.

Mot listened quietly to Hel. He'd almost forgotten about that incident. It had been one of the original cases of misunderstandings between them that day and everything. He did feel bad. He'd misinterpreted Hel's laughter, and then went and made goo-goo eyes at Lizzy. Mot's mouth pulled into an embarrassed frown. His fondness of Lizzy had caused him many problems it seemed.
Still, Hel seemed like she was apologizing, covering with a clearing of a misunderstanding. But, this meant that she wasn't making fun of him, right? "I see.. Sorry. I jumped the gun on that it seems as well." It wasn't like Mot to jump to conclusions. This house, did it make him lose his senses? Or was he to blame? A serious lapse in judgement all around. "But, that's good I guess. I honestly thought you were picking on me for a bit."

Was she picking on him?
“…”
Well, about that…
Hel reached up to rub her forehead with her palm, grimacing, before she lowered it to look him in the eye. He was being rather courageous right now…apologizing to her and such…she owed him the same, no matter how awkward it made her feel. “…I was picking on you as well.” She muttered sourly, and did look ashamed by it. Now that she was calling herself out on the act, it did make her feel bad…and Lattice’s words from earlier rung true as well. Ugh…that was a whole other topic she didn’t want to tackle right now. She was quiet for a moment longer. “…I apologize.” She meant it…and everyone…had been right. Digging that stuff up to toss around during times like this was a poor…poor, poor choice.

Wait.. so she was picking on him after all? It figured, really. Mot seemed disappointed, his gaze dropping. That kind of stung. But as his eyes lifted, Hel seemed shamed of her actions. This was assured by an actual apology.
It seemed like Hel admitted and accepted her own mistakes. For that? Mot was stunned, and also proud. She was a stubborn ghoul by nature. To do this was a big thing.
"I forgive you." Mot replied with a soft smile. "Thank you."
A big weight had been lifted. He wasn't fighting with Hel anymore. Being stuck in a room with no exit and annoying ticking was no longer the death sentence it had been.

Oh…he was disappointed…but…he had every right to be? For a moment Hel felt like this conversation was done, and maybe he was going to stop talking to her now but…no such thing.
Yeah, you know, getting Hel to admit that she was wrong was usually like pulling teeth! But when conversing with Mot…things came forth easily…too easily. This concerned Hel. To hear that she was forgiven though? Yes, it was an immense relief as well, and the reaper quietly sat in that feeling of having Mot’s forgiveness for a good few minutes. “…There is no need to thank me. It was what I owed to you.” Hel muttered, glancing down at the flowers now, brushing her fingers against the petals. She was suddenly at a loss for words though, which was odd. There was…a lot she wanted to say, but here wasn’t the place for them…and she was still reeling in the relief of having the air cleared between them now.

It was difficult to say exactly how long they had been there. "They" being two statues made out of copper, standing on raised pedestals set between two doors. The statues had the bodies of dogs and the heads of lions; they were Fu Dogs. Each one wore a different collar decorated with skulls; one had a collar that was red, the other a sky blue. Each Fu Dog had one paw raised, resting on a sphere. Or is it a skull? It is difficult to tell. They move, their paws tightening around their treasures as you approach. "Well met," they greet in unison. "Your trials are almost over, Students of Amityville. What you have gone through is a sample, a mere taste of what is expected of some on a daily basis. But you are not here for that." They fall silent, looking down and studying each student carefully. The one with the light blue collar speaks first. "Your last trial awaits you. It will not be easy." "You will get to choose," the red collared one says, "This is a choice for each of you to make." "Not as a group." "Not together." "But individually," the two say in unison gravely. "You may only go through one door. Once you have made your choice and gone through it, you cannot back out." "The doors are locked for now," the one with the red collar says. "They will unlock when the time is right." "For now, consider your options," the sky blue collared one says. "You may change your mind before entering, but once you go through a door you cannot return." The statues fall silent as they exchange a glance with each other. "To determine which door you pick, please tell us... Are you the type of person who would rather watch a performance, or be the one performing?
I'd rather watch a performance.
I'd rather be the one performing.

By the time the statues had spoken up, Riyo had finished feasting on her fish, leaving nothing but the bone in her wake. Fish and catnip. What a beautiful thing.
Her ears stood up at the sound of two new voices speaking at the same time, an awestruck look on her face as her eyes darted to the source. Talking statues! The second set today! Wow, the house must really like them.
What they spoke... Was strange, though.
Up until now, it seemed that everything was encouraging them towards cooperation (even if they hadn't been listening). So... Why now were they being told to make their choices alone?
The thoughts seemed to sober her up, subconsciously covering her nose to prevent the inhalation of more catnip. Watch a performance or be the one performing?
At first, she took it literally. Truly, the ghoul didn't go to many performances. She was too busy with her own affairs to break away and sit down to something. Then she thought about performance as a means of doing one's tasks instead of watching someone else do them. A sneer crossed her lips as her thoughts flew back to being worked to the bone as a child while Mr. Lyle sat back and just watched, that never-changing grin on his lips as he leaned back into his comfy chair.
No.
No, she didn't want to be like that. She never wanted to be like that. Just watching wasn't an option. Whatever this was, she would be the one doing, and not just an onlooker.
"I'd rather be the one performing." She was always in some kind of performance. Some kind of sick performance to appease those who were too lazy to do things themselves. No need to change that now.

The silence hadn't bothered Mot. He'd said what he wanted to say. He simply basked in feeling that things were somewhat okay again.
And then another set of choice making statues broke that silence.
Mot stood up after putting his hat (WITH CROWN) back onto his head, making his way to the statues as the others did. This time, it was up to them as individuals to choose a door. Well, at least there would be no fighting within the group as far as decision making went.
Normally, and certainly before he had come to the house, Mot would have readily chosen the option to watch and observe. However, now he felt like he had to better himself. Simply hanging back was all he was good at. When he tried to do something, it didn't usually work. No, he wanted to do something. He wanted to be proactive. He was in no mood to sit back and not have a chance to be a part of something.
"I'd rather be the one performing, too." Mot chimed in after Riyo.

Shun had been silent the entire time. He paid no heed to anything else that was going on in the room with the others and continued to keep to himself, just as he usually did before he came to the academy. There was a sense of frustration he had because of the weight in his chest now. If he had continued to be how he normally was, this likely wouldn't have happened. But at the same time....
His thoughts were interrupted as two statues spoke up. Where and when did they come in? Finally turning around, he stared back at them. Their final trial... Shun had a feeling this will be different than everything else the house had thrown at them thus far. At least, he hoped so.
The use of the word performance did not throw him off so much. If this were a theater, he would not be the one on stage for sure. This wasn't exactly the case. He was certain this was a metaphor for something. And seeing how useless he felt already, there was no way he was going to just sit by and watch everyone else do the work.
Standing up, he turned more towards the statues to give his answer.
"I too would be the one performing," he said before finally shying a glance towards Mitsu. For a moment, his eyes widened as he saw that she had put her mask back on. Wait... why was she wearing it again right now?

Mitsu barely made notice of the statues as they began to speak. Honestly there wasn't much more this house could do to surprise her. They had already had talking statues after all.
Eyes glancing up toward them as they were presented with their choices Mitsu grimaced biting at her lower lip as she tried to think. Honestly after all of this she just wanted to sit in the background and be forgotten. She didn't want to take center stage of anything....but everyone else had chosen a different answer.
Slowly her eyes passed over her group until finally....they rested on Shun. Instantly her ears fell back the hurt feeling welling up in her chest. It was then that she glanced over and saw that the source of her crime was gone. So why didn't that make her feel any better?
For the moment she held her tongue, her mind still going over the options. While it felt safer to sit back and watch there was still that strong urge to stay by Shun's side. She had promised after all. The lycan would have his back. Was she willing to break that promise because of what had just happened? "I...." She trailed off unable to make a decision.
