Amelia Frances Joan

User ImageAt the mention of mice, Amelia carefully moved her friend from Transfiguration from her shoulder to her deep pocket. She definitely didn't want her mixed up with the other mice....in fact she didn't want any of the mice to be used. Still, she knew the students wouldn't be allowed as test subjects so mice it was. Praying that everyone's potion worked properly, Amelia began to write down the directions. Carefully, using Aguamenti, she measured out three cups, one at a time, pouring them into her cauldron. Lighting the fire with a quick Incendio, she took her seat once more, listening to the water start its dance.

Liviana aimed her wand at her rusty old cauldron and whispered, "Aguamenti." A thin jet of water filled the pot. Pointing her wand a second time, she silently used Incendio to heat the cool liquid.

Arranging her ingredients, she let the water boil as she minced her lacewing flies and measured out exactly what she needed. When the water was gurgling happily in her cauldron, Liviana added a dash of unicorn horn and the tablespoon of acromantula venom.

Sighing, she began to stir counterclockwise, hoping she would remember to add the clockwise stir. This was always the part she had the most trouble with in potions. Why should which way one stirs have anything to do with- oops. Was that the sixth stir or the seventh? Better go clockwise just in case. Liviana's cheeks flushed. Hopefully this didn't mess things up too badly...

Adding her minced lacewing flies, Liviana took note that this potion took some of the same ingredients as the Polyjuice potion. Odd. Even odder still, her potion had taken on a bile-green color instead of the acid-green look it should have. Hopefully it would be okay!

Liviana put out the flames under her second-hand cauldron to let it cool and cleaned her workstation. After watching some of the others test their concoctions, Liviana returned to her runny batch and added her dragon blood with some annoyance. It fizzled and instantaneously became a turquoise color. No exactly what she wanted, but it would have to do.

User ImageAs the water boiled steadily, Amelia reread the next step. It made her nervous, thinking about the venom beside her. She was careful to hold her hands steady as she measured the acromantula venom. Holding it in her right, she pinched a bit of unicorn horn between her fingers of her left hand, then dropped both in simultaneously. A loud hiss issued as the two made contact. It looked as if the venom was writhing in pain. Raising her head sharply from the cauldron, she went to the next step.

She stirred slowly, counting under her breath. "one...two...three...four...five...six.." she almost continued into the seventh, but switched directions quickly to add the counterclockwise stir. Then again. This was going to be a long five minutes. It was her fifth time through that she realized she hadn't checked what time it was when she started. Though her eyes widened, she continued to stir. Each stir seemed to last a full second. She was on her sixth now. That would be forty two...three...seconds. She continued to count until she reached a minute. With that she glanced at the clock, remembered the time and started to stir calmly again. The pattern wasn't so bad once you started.

Liviana brought a sample of her potion to the center of the classroom where her other classmates were waiting. She gently picked up a mouse, who was attempting to scurry away, as though he knew the concoction was questionable.

Liviana took a dropper and made a line on the table out of the noxious liquid. She set the mouse down, and it instantly let out a squeak and ran in the opposite direction of the line. Suddenly, the potion made a fizzling noise and began eating away at the table. Blushing furiously, Liviana called, "Scourgify!" and the substance disappeared.

Looking woefully at Professor Akahana, Liviana said in a sheepish voice, "I guess that wasn't my best work." She hoped the good professor would not take any points away for the destroyed table.

User ImageSliding her knife underneath them to cleanly pick up the minced bugs, she poured them into her potion. After a quick stir, she blinked surprised. Yes, yes, it was what she would consider acid green, reminding her of DIP, however, there were purple, yes purple simmering fumes. She must have done something wrong. Right? Purple is always worth mentioning. Raising her hand, Amelia waited calmly for the Professor to come to her. She was so good at potions she’d probably be able to tell her exactly where she messed up. It was something Amelia admired, to be that good at something.

Sparrow rushed into the classroom in a panic. She tried not to attract much attention to herself. She had fallen asleep in the library working on all her work. She was getting so stressed out. Her hair was a bit of a mess at the moment giving away her distress. She walked up to the Professor and said, "I'm so sorry i am late Professor. I just got caught up when i should not have. What should i be doing now?" She cursed herself in her head. The professor was sure to take points away for her tardiness.

((Lol just realized I failed to post in this class yet again... I'm erm here now!!))

Ayamae blinked at Liviana's table where the potion had eaten it away.

"I'm going to take a guess and say that you used a bit too much venom. Now you all know why this potion is dangerous and extemely hard to brew. However, it did achieve the desired effect...10 points to Ravenclaw."

She hated docking one of her star pupils five points, but the potion probably would've eaten away or burned the mouse.

Ayamae then turned to the panicked Sparrow with a sigh.

"5 points from Gryffindor. See that you aren't late again. We're working on an anti-pestilence potion. You can find the directions up on the board."

Ayamae then saw Amelia's raised hand and noticed the purple fumes issuing from her cauldron.

"Oh my...that is most odd...I think you added too many lacewing flies. I think you're going to have to start over again, dear."

Sparrow nodded and the Professor. Trying to tell herself that the points were rightfully taken away, but she hated herself for being the cause of the loss. Even if Gryffindor was still far ahead in points it was still unacceptable. Sparrow looked at the board and got out the ingredients.

After collecting the ingredients Sparrow began the potions. She added three cups of water to her potion and lit beneath it to allow it to boil. After the water was boiling, Sparrow took the unicorn horn in one and and the acromantula venom in the other. She added them at the exact same time as the instructions said to do. She then got her spoon and stirred the concoction as told. Counterclockwise with a clockwise every 7 stirs.

After the Five minutes were up Sparrow looked at the board for the next step. She collected her lacewing flies and dumped them into the potion. She looked at the color afterward. It wasn't exactly the right color, but was close and the fumes seemed right to her. She nodded to herself hoping that the potion was correct or close to correct and she allowed it to cool.

After if cooled, Sparrow poured in the dragon blood. She nodded again to herself when she noticed the potion was a blue-green color as the board said. She was glad it was or she would probably have to start over. After completing all the steps Sparrow raised her hand and said, "Professor, does my potion look correct?"

Avona Lachelle Glace

Ava tensed up. She sighed and came closer to the professor. Ma'am, I hate to tell you this, but, well... Ava stopped for a moment noticing how other students were passing her in the process. She should have just waited. But, she had to tell the professor now. Professor, I have a secret that I hate to tell people. I'm actually completely color blind. She spoke this very softly to hope that others would not hear her. Potion making was one subject she was phenominal at, and she loved it dearly, just not when it came to seeing the color of the potion. She hoped the professor would understand.

Amelia Frances Joan

User ImageAmelia looked crushed. Horrified. Embarrassed. Her face was bright pink as she mumbled her "Yes, ma'am." It took her a moment to remember the incantation for the vanishing spell she'd learned in Defense Against the Dark Arts, but once remembered, she cast it with ease. This time she made sure she picked out six lacewing flies, all of equal size. She minced them quickly, glad her knife was sharp enough to go completely through instead of squishing them. Returning to her cauldron, she filled it three times with Aguamenti, making sure it was three cups. A quick incendio produced a flame underneath, and she waited for it to boil, collecting the rest of the ingredients again. She frowned as she started to notice her potion supplies were running low. Hopefully they'd last until the end of term.

User ImageHearing the steady boil, Amelia quickly measured out the venom carefully, then pinched the unicorn horn between her fingers. Holding them above the cauldron for a moment, she released them both in at the same instance. Immediately she began stirring, knowing the pattern she didn't have to think to count. She also remembered to check the time, not wanting to make the same mistake again.

Lena

Hearing Professor Akahana’s voice, Lena quickly put her book away and wrote down the recipe for the next potion. She fetched all needed ingredients and tools and began by pouring three cups of water into the cauldron and setting fire to its bottom. After it came to a boil, she added the powdered unicorn horn and the acromantula venom at exactly the same time. She than stirred the mix according to the recipe and added the lacewing flies. Carefully looking into the cauldron, she made sure it was acid green and had shimmering fumes coming from it, as it was supposed to be. She was a bit surprised when she noticed it was as desribed in the recipe and she smiled happily. As she allowed the potion cool down, she put away the tools she wouldn’t be needing anymore. After a while, when it had cooled down, she carefully poured in the dragon blood and again checked to make sure it was the correct colour. As it was the blue-green it was to be, she filled a eyedropper with it and poured the rest into a glass vial, which she labelled, and put everything away where it belonged. Using the eyedropper she drew a circle onto her desk’s top with the potion. Lena then walked to the teachers desk and carefully took a tiny little mouse in her hands, which didn’t bother her at all as she was used to handling them, having had a few as pets when she'd been younger. Being extremely careful not to drop it as it was moving quite a bit and being very uncooperative, she walked back to her desk and carefully set the mouse down in the middle of the circle, hoping it would stay away from the edges and it wouldn’t somehow get hurt if she’s made a mistake and something went bad if it went to close to the liquid. She stared at it eagerly and cheerfully put away her notebook as the little mouse approached the side of the circle but quickly backed away, staying in the middle. Professor, can you come and see? I think my potion works.
