Micheal could only stare at the two of them with a kind of abstract shock. These shinigami were barking mad. He supposed it would make sense to Otori, but his tenshi was out cold still. It seemed that Watari's offer was resonable but obviously wouldn't be accepted. Otori would have probably offered the same out of selflessness. It was tempting however to make the offer on his part, there would obviously be an increase in his own personal powers. Since he was already a demon it would be more of a melding of the two personalities rather than one dominating the other. Whoever heard of a possessed demon anyway.

He leaned against the doorframe and regarded them all thoughtfully. There was a time when he would have jumped at that idea. . . but revenge on his master aside, what would be the point? Tsuzuki had after all rejected all of his ideas so far. Micheal decided that he wouldn't volunteer his services and let them in turn solve their own problem. Unless he was asked.

He hadn't expected that reaction.
Sure, a bit of protest but THAT?

"Honestly, Tsuzuki-chan, I was useless in life and I'm pretty much useless in death if you haven't noticed." the scientist replied, amber gaze fixed on the glowering shinigami. "I blew myself up for gods-sakes and, now that I'm dead, I seem to have a habit of incinerating my lab at least once a week! Tell me that the office wouldn't be better without me spiking everyone's coffee with a gender swapping potion, or without 003 trying to make nests out of important paperwork, or without the smoke and sometimes semi-toxic fumes spewing out of my lab?" the blond couldn't help it but he stood up and paced around the back of the sofa.

"I can hold a demon far easier than a mortal, and you know it. We're DEAD, Tsuzuki. Yeah, it might take me over, but at least the dungeons of Emna-sama can hold an entity with that much power. Believe me... I've been in them..." Watari looked away, sighing slightly as he tried to come up with a better reasoning.

"I constantly annoy Tatsumi with expenditures, I drive Bon nuts with trying to analyze his curse, and I keep turning you into a guinea pig for my own experiments. You can all live without me, probably quite better to be honest... and you'll get your doctor." his glasses glinted, the blond looking back to his friend. "It will save an innocent life... a life that could probably do a helluva lot more good on Earth than I can in the afterlife. And you know it."

"Useless!" he repeated the word as if it physically hurt. "Useless! What is wrong with you, Warari?!" Tsuzuki all but stomped his foot at the blond.
"I...I can't imagine the office without all those things! If you weren't there, if the lab weren't being blown up, if I went a week without taking a nap on my desk and waking up with 003 living in my paperclip cup or a plate of freshly baked cookies that have been spiked with your potion du jour, it would be miserable! Don't give me your useless talk. Yeah, you could do this, but you wouldn't come out of it. When Saagatanus possessed me, you remember how it was. I just about didn't survive that. It was only by a miracle that I was able to push that demon from myself, and only by virtue of your medical treatment that I survived it, in case you forgot! Maybe you annoy people every now and then, maybe you drive people nuts on occasion. We all do. All that matters is that you're important to a lot of people, especially me. You're my best friend, and, well, I love you, Watari Yutaka." Tsuzuki reached across the back of the couch and pulled the scientist over it, both of them now leaning over Muraki, as he delivered a demure peck on the lips to the mad scientist.
Stepping down from his proverbial soapbox, Tsuzuki grinned a bit, tousling Watari's golden locks.
"So...all this stress has me kinda hungry, ya know. How bout we go into the kitchen and use Jason-kun to make a couple of sandwiches!"
When it boiled down to it, no matter the situation, Tsuzuki was, and always would be, Tsuzuki.

That, was honestly, the first time in Watari's shinigami life that he'd actually been kissed.
By anyone...

The scientist blinked, staring at Tsuzuki in complete shock... and he silently wondered if his jaw might have hit the floor.
Which it hadn't, but that's about how he felt right now.

"While I appreciate the concern, Tsuzuki-chan... isn't there some part of you that knows I'm right?" Watari asked softly. "You want Muraki back, don't you? Use me... use me and lock me away and this ma," he pointed to the unconscious doctor. "Can go about helping people and loving you. I'm dead, Tsuzuki. You're dead. We're shinigami and we're supposed to protect the living who's time hasn't come, and help the living who's time it is to finally die. Besides," the scientist smiled softly. "It will be a temporary solution at best. You can find a way to seal Saki away, probably with Otori-san and Micheal-san's help. I'm just a walking encyclopedia, Tsuzuki... they are the ones with power. THEY and YOU are the ones who can fix this. Not me... This is all I can offer you."

"Muraki wouldn't want me to sacrifice another life to save his, even if you are already dead. You're still alive in one sense, if not by the strict definition of the word. I guarantee that there is a way to do this without costing anybody their very existence." Tsuzuki said simply, making his way to the kitchen.
"Do you have salami? I'm really in the mood for salami..." Tsuzuki called over his shoulder, fumbling through a cabinet before pulling out Jason-kun, Watari's cute little slicing invention. It was a strange looking contraption, but it could cut the thinnest slices of meat and cheese you'd ever hope to layer on a sandwich.
When in doubt, eat.
That had gotten Tsuzuki though a lot in his time. It helped him think, too.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 02, 2010 8:30 pm

"It wouldn't threaten my existence." Watari replied, following after Tsuzuki into the kitchen. "Think about it... we regenerate anyway, meaning with Saki in me instead of Muraki, we get a longer amount of time to figure out how to seal him away for good. At the rate Muraki's going... a few years, maybe, until his life's completely spent?" the scientist spoke softly. "A year is probably even too much to hope for, especially given the severity of his personality changes right now. That seal you placed will last a few days max, then what? You exhaust yourself to place it again and hope you don't stop Muraki's heart in the process? You're lucky he survived the first sealing, Tsuzuki... and you know it."

MEANWHILE....

'You fool! If you had obeyed me in the beginning, this never would have happened!'

'You wanted to destroy Asato. How could I not stop you? He's not your toy.'

'But he is! Don't you remember? You saw the photographs as a child, you KNOW who he is. Deep down, you know that he was the greatest mystery to your grandfather. And now he's right here, right in front of you, the perfect test subject. The perfect lab rat.'

'Haven't you destroyed his afterlife enough, Saki?'

'You can't hold me at bay forever. Neither can this shinigami's spell. Sooner or later the spell will weaken and I'll be free again... and I'll just keep killing and killing until your poor Asato comes and begs me to make the murders stop. He's fragile, you know... so very fragile...'

'Stop it! He has nothing to do with this!'

'HE HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THIS!'

With a sudden jolt, Muraki's grey eyes flew open and he gasped. His hands immediately went to his chest, tearing the blanket off of his body and sitting up, trying desperately to draw air into his seemingly starved lungs.

But then the pain returned... just as it always did... a dull throbbing behind his right eye... piercingly painful, a stabbing that only worsened as the seconds drew on.
Wincing, Kazutaka curled himself into a ball where he now sat, knees pressed against his chest, one hand over that agonizingly searing eye.
And his forehead... how it pounded... like fists banging and banging away, trying to break free.

Saki...

He just had to be right, didn't he. Watari was always right, in the end, in a roundabout sort of way.
Still, it was true. There wasn't much time. At least not enough. Tsuzuki was lucky that he hadn't killed Muraki, or injured him seriously in his attempt to perform that exorcism. To do it again...would be murder.
"But...he could destroy you, Watari. I couldn't...I just..." Tsuzuki cut himself short as he heard a loud gasp come from the living area. Pushing the meal he was about to prepare to the side, he nearly galloped the few steps back to the couch, falling to his knees beside the doctor who was in a disabling amount of pain.
"Watari...help him, please! Do something, anything!" the shinigami begged, forgetting everything when he saw his lover awake and in pain.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 02, 2010 9:31 pm

Dashing after Tsuzuki, Watari stood behind the armrest, reaching out and carefully unfolding Muraki until the may lay back down. His amber eyes quickly took stock of the situation.
"It's Saki... his eye's hurting, and no doubt his head as well." turning, blond hair flying, the shinigami whistled. "003, I need my little yellow bag."
The tiny owl hooted then left the room, soon returning with a small yellow draw-string satchel. She dropped it into the scientist's waiting hand, and soon Watari had a syringe filled with morphine.
At least it would stop the pain...
Quickly, he injected the liquid into Muraki's arm. "Muraki? Muraki Kazutaka?" he spoke carefully, rubbing the entry point carefully to dull the sting.

It was a few moments later that Muraki was able to finally calm down enough to realize... he wasn't outside anymore.
That, and there was a strange blond hovering over him near Tsuzuki.
"A... Asato?" the silver-haired doctor whispered, confusion evident in his features.
He pulled his hand away from his right eye, blood evident on his palm and fingers.
"What happened?"

"You woke up." Watari said with a light smile, carefully checking the eye. "And the angrier Saki is... the worse your eye will hurt."

But Muraki really didn't understand what was happening nor who this blond was.
Though he seemed vaguely familiar...
"Asato... where am I? Did the exorcism work or..." then the doctor paled. "He's still there... in my head... I can feel him pounding away..."

"Saki..." Tsuzuki growled, clenching his fists. He couldn't stop the b*****d from hurting Muraki, even now. The best he could do was watch as Watari administered drugs.
When the doctor called his name, though, he responded instantly.
"I'm here, Kazu. It's going to be ok. Just relax. The exorcism failed. I...did all that I could. Gomen." the shinigami kissed Muraki's knuckles, then his forehead, then gently pressed his lips to the doctor's, just as he had Watari's a few moments before.

"Asato... this is insane... just... kill me and drive him out..." Muraki whispered, just before his lips were claimed by the amethyst-eyed shinigami's own.

Sighing, Watari shook his head. "I've administered morphine for your pain, Muraki-san." the blond spoke softly once their kiss had ended. "But it's not going to help for long... there's little we can do unless..."
Oh how the scientist wanted to tell Muraki his plan, to tell him that they could transfer the man's deranged demonic brother into the blond shinigami...
But he couldn't say it... he couldn't even give voice to the option because he knew how badly it would hurt Tsuzuki if he so much as suggested it to the doctor.

"Iie, iie, Kazu." Tsuzuki said as he pulled back. "You know I can't do that. I...can't..." he turned his head, squeezing his eyes shut, fighting back tears. Seeing his lover suffering like that, it reminded him of all the agony and pain he had witnessed, and beared, in his so very, very long life.
"W...Watari...I don't know what to do. I'm scared. I'm so scared." he looked up at the blond, completely helpless, and hopeless.
PostPosted: Sat Jul 03, 2010 12:23 am

"Then let me help him, Tsuzuki..." Watari spoke softly, reaching out one hand to lay on his friend's shoulder. "Let me take the transfer... it will buy you time at the very least..."

Muraki's eyes widened slightly at this and he looked from the blond to Tsuzuki. "Saki can't become someone else's burden... he'll drive you mad..."

The scientist shook his head, "We don't have any other choice. Saki is destroying your body from the inside out, Muraki-san... and until we know more about the type of demon Saki is... we have NO OTHER option."

"Oh my god, what do I do?!" the shinigami broke down. He felt so pathetic, so pitiful. To have been hailed as talented and powerful for so many things, he felt as though he were the most useless shinigami to ever come into existence. Perhaps he could understand how Watari felt now...
To have Watari telling him it was ok, that it was the only way...
Then to have Muraki, his lover, reject the idea.
And Tsuzuki, to be placed in the position to choose, do I let my lover perish, my best friend take on an impossible burden he may not live through, or let the demon come into his body, which could withstand the possession...if he didn't slaughter everyone he knew and loved in the process.
Maybe he was strong enough to fight Saki. Maybe, just maybe, they could subdue him until Saki could be destroyed. Tsuzuki could live through the ordeal. He knew he could.
but the risk to everybody else...iie, surely he could do this.
"I can do it. I'm sure I can take the burden. My body will survive, if you can just find a way to keep me down until he's gone."

Micheal listened to them argue back and forth. And he couldn't really help it, he started to chuckle. From there it proceeded to grow in volume. He hadn't really intended on it being quite that loud, but at this rate it seemed they would argue back and forth until the point was moot anyway.

"There is one solution, I suppose." The demon spoke up, putting aside his resolve not to tell these Shinigami the thought that occured to him. It was a mad thing for a demon to suggest, but he'd been called worse. Maybe it was Otori's influence that caused him to put forward an offer of aid that didn't involve bloodshed. "Put this Saki in me if you can. Then have your little exorcism. If there is anything like a soul remaining from my tenshi's meddling I may become something like a human. If I don't survive, I'll take your little demonling with me to hell."

He didn't really expect any positive response to his offer, but at least Otori couldn't fault him for that. At least if he were awake enough to say anything. "Or if you prefer, make a pact before you try to transfer Saki. I might even be persuaded to help make it airtight so to speak."

Amber eyes flashed as Watari's gaze focused on Micheal. "While I appreciate the offer, Micheal-san... putting a demon into another demon's body isn't exactly something I want to do."
There were too many things that could go wrong, after all.
"If Saki is powerful enough to wrest control from you, then your power increases, Saki's power increases, and we have a bigger problem on our hands than before."
He wasn't really going to voice the fact that demons couldn't be trusted. After all, Micheal hadn't done anything TOO bad since the blond shinigami had met him.
But one could never be sure with demons...
Especially with an oddity like Micheal...

Sighing, the scientist turned his attention back to Tsuzuki. "And you're not going to get him exorcised into your body either, Tsuzuki-chan. First off, that's what Saki wants. Secondly, yes your body might survive, but not your mind. I'd rather not drag up painful memories... but you remember your last full out encounter with him in Kyoto... you know what happened then. This time, Bon might not be there to pull you from the flames."

It went without saying that Watari understood Tsuzuki's mental instability. In fact, he was the one, as that basement room burned, who had to snap Tatsumi out of his 'decision' to respect Tsuzuki's want to kill himself!
Selfish feeling or not, Tsuzuki was still with them... and if it hadn't been for one angry scientist... well... shadows may not have pulled out the amethyst-eyed shinigami and his partner in time.
No... Watari didn't want to see Tsuzuki go through that again, let alone explain to Bon and Tatsumi what had happened to their sugar-loving friend.

"Besides, if something goes wrong, I don't have the power to save you, Tsuzuki... nor to destroy you. You, on the other hand, have enough power to do what's necessary to protect the people you love... if Saki is within me instead."
