Angilwingz I don't like the idea of re-making the giggling pear, but i guess it makes the most sense to do. Anyhow. Just don't delete the other one, whatever you do! Put it in the Archives, but dont delete it! And then I say it's ok to remake it. And as for event threads, we have an event forum, and planning for the Halloween Event is currently underway, so please go there to give your input, and we can decide the best tasks for you there, k? Also, it'd be great if you PMed me to discuss some secret stuff for the event... ninja Archives would be the best place for that thread. It's up to the mods on whether or not it should be re-made. I was really just throwing up ideas. I didn't mean event threads more like Weekly mini-events. Already put some ideas and comments in that Event forum about Halloween. *takes a hint* Thanks Celestial

Off-Subject a bit: Should there be a rule about repeat threads in the Discussion forum?? I've been browsing there and a good bit of the threads ask who will die and what not. Repeat threads just annoy me. Thoughts?

I'll add a rule specifically about repeat threads on my Discussion Guidelines just to make it clearer.
I don't think that particular rule on the Entrance Hall is obvious enough. It seems to be overshadowed by the big giant "NO SPAM" lettering O_o It's like saying "DON'T SPAM!...oh and repeat threads, don't make em either..." *cough* Doesn't really make it look important enough.

I agree here. If they know there is a rule on repeat threads they have been ignoring it or maybe haven't noticed it. It will be more clear if it's posted in the Discussion forum
*again it's just me throwing up suggestions*

I have two new ideas, but since one involves the mods only I'll voice that one at a later time. How would you guys feel about A Student Message Board Sticky? This sticky would make it easier for all the members to see what the other members are doing elsewhere in gaia. For instance: if someone made a new shop, or quest thread, or will be going on Vacation or something. this would be a fun and convenient way to let people know stuff. It's an idea in the works, but that way we wouldn't have to have the quest thread, Hogsmeade and all the other threads to check for different updates and stuff. We could also post the new events there and any other Need-to-See things., and whatever.. Again idea in the works which means it has plenty of room for modifications What do you guys think?? Don't worry this is my second to last suggestion so far sweatdrop

idea
I've been wanting to do this for a while now... I was wondering whether anyone thinks we should award house points for posts. You know, so people will visit the guild more, be more active... Not like one point per post or anything like that...I have two ways we could do it. For both of them the only real calculations need to be done at the end of the term when we would just figure how many posts each student has made at the end of the term (doing this by also taking note of how many posts they had at the start, which I usually do anyways) But I admit that it may be better to cut it off the week before term ends, so everyone knows who won the house cup. Now, I don't care if you use one, both, a mix, or none...but, if you all do like this idea, then I would love to have it for this next term. Well...here they are sad keep in mind that all numbers are flexible...this is just my general idea)
first way
Awarding each student points for their posts. Use a scale or grading average or whatever you want to call it. But this would have a steep curve...like so: 10 posts= 1 point 25 posts = 5 points 50 posts = 15 points 75 posts = 30 points 100+ posts = 50 points
second way
Making it more of a term competition... Student with most posts: 50 points Prefect with most posts: 20 points Junior-Prefect with most posts: 20 points House with most posts: 30 points ?House with most posts/per/student/average: 50 points (?Maybe? Head of House with most posts: 10 points and then this idea could also include... ?Student with least posts?: -25 points ?House with least posts?: -25 posts
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On that note, I was also thinking that maybe we could do a similar thing for the elves, but give prizes...maybe the elf with the most posts will get a donation letter or maybe even a donation letter from every month the term falls in (usually 3). Or maybe 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes...first will get first pick of the three, second gets second pick, and third gets what's left.
Anyways...you can all poke, prod, and tear apart the idea and make into whatever you think is best...I just think it's a good idea to get members to be more active...
I was also thinking that maybe we could start a fund and give the students from each term's House Cup a prize...be it gold or item...but the reward be better for each older student...to encourage members to stick around...

KT: I think that would be great. I like the second one best. 3nodding I'm not sure exactly why, but there is a reason! sweatdrop
Also, maybe a prize for the top poster or something? Sort of a bigger incentive to post more frequently. I dunna know. I'm so tired my logic explaining is out the window right now. Maybe you even said something like that already.

I only read the top half of KT's post about her new idea and nothing else
I like Option 2 only because it will be easier to calculate point totals because it would be for particular students and not every student who met the requirements.. Get me??
I just read Reese's posts (thank!) Basically what she said Top Poster overall gets a prize as well as house points.
And KT that's alot of prizes and donation letters to give out which is expensive other than that it's a good idea!

I thought you only read the top half? sweatdrop
anyways, I know it's alot of prizes...I don't expect us to keep all the ideas...I definately want to do the top elf posts thing. I'll donate the three letters per-term myself. Let's face it, our houses are tiny and we only get about 10 members elligable to be sorted out of the 30-50 or so members that we accept each term. And I don't want to compromise the sorting requirements.
As for easier calculating: I'd need to calculate every student's number anyways, because some of the awards are "Most posts this term" and I don't want to get rid of those because then only the oldest members would get prizes. It's not that hard to do the math, it's end of term post number minus start of term post number. And there are currently 35 sorted students and only about 8 or 10 elligable elves. It's not bad at all when you have a calculator and a copy of the lists excell file. And as for elves, we wont need to go to the extent of top posts this term because the top posting elves from previous terms will have almost definately been sorted, making a fresh start for the next term's elves.

Last time I was the top poster but was not counted because of my mod status. And I don't want to figure out how many points each student deserved... So let's do option 2, but less extreme.

I like your idea KT biggrin I also like option 2, and I do think we should do it for the house elves too.
