"Property? Did you just call us PROPERTY?!" Azrael roared, his claws were fully extended and sought something to rend. The eyes of the werewolves assembled glowed with violent intensity. When Kayla stood between them, however, Azrael did manage to contain himself somewhat. "There's no misunderstanding. I understand completely about these people, powered by arrogance and stupid fancies." He snarled, wishing that Kayla would not stand between them so. He planned to rip out the Human commander's throat. "I would ask that you please find a safer place to be Kayla. You are doubtless capable, but I would not want one of my guests to come to harm because of the arrogance of others."

The commander puffed his chest out in an attempt to look as if he was mortified by the indignity served him. In truth he was more bewildered by how uncivilized these creatures were. Did they not have a ruler? With the attitude the werewolf leader had displayed, apparently not. "All learn their place. Even beasts like you have a place." He said, trying to use a more pacific tone, as the monsters clearly did not understand anything about proper society, though he wished he had a proper servant to explain it. A peasant conscript like the ones he led would not do. "You've no cause to be upset. You should be crouched in thanks that someone with authority came to teach you manners and place."

Logain stopped near where Loki had taken the young woman from the human scouting party. He did not walk in however, he would wait for the girl to come out, unless he sensed another development. Loki had needed to feed, and the humans picked an inopportune time to send scouts. He would have liked to think that way, but Logain knew that those thoughts would bring things to piece, though this time he knew interfering would only cause problems. What a mess this had all turned out to be.

The pup barked and jumped up, running after Shera at full speed. This one was faster than the one Shera had run against the last time, and he picked up speed quickly, though he panted at the run he had to keep up to make the pace.

As the pups played, three adult werewolves crept into the passage unnoticed through one of the other entry-ways. They were visibly older than the other members of the tribes, and their fur was long and braided with red and blue feathers. The Elders of the Garoh tribe.

The Elders, one male, two female, entered the room dignified yet subtly. Two of them went off, one to talk with the two nursing mothers, and one to take up a quiet corner and watch the children at play. The third however, the oldest of them, walked up to Miluel and sat down. "How fare you Alpha?" Inquired the elder of Miluiel.

Alunn let out a sigh of irritation and stood up, motioning with his hand. "Friell, go see what the humans are doing" Alunn ordered, the elder shade nodding and moving out of sight. Alunn easily caught up with Elizabeth, lifting his foot he pressed down hard on her back, forcing her to lay flat on the ground. "You. Need. To. Rest" he ordered "roughly half your blood is gone, and if you get to far away the remaining toxin will turn rancid, and you will die. Do you understand? Now either sit still for a little while, or I will tie you down and force you to. Okay?"

Kayla felt a bit of a panic overcome her. She wondered if she was mad but the person that took her in to warm from the cold was about to go to war with humans due to haughty words and insults yet she was here between both forces. "What of your families then?" she called out trying to keep her composure. Azrael was working into a frenzy and the others likewise were beginning to froth with lust for battle It made her feel smaller then she was but told Logain she would handle the situation. She didn't realize the gravity of the problem though. "I may not have been here very long but if you throw negotiations away then you will only cause trouble down the line. Hate spreads like wild fire. Why do you think the great war happened years ago?"

Kayla was sure she was going to die because she did not move but instead tried to reason with Azrael. At the very least she might have been greatly hurt but if she let Azrael kill these scouts she feared not only blood shed hear but much more in the future. Her knees felt weak but she did her best to be brave. After all she might have skills but there was no way she could stop armed werewolves and humans from killing each other.

"Please don't drag the children into a new war sir I am begging you." Kayla said as her voice cracked. She felt strongly having little memory of her childhood save for some times Celeron and Shera. She swore she would make amends and if she did not stop this she could not forgive herself.

Kayla's words hit Azrael like strike to his stomach, and grimaced, a menacing look indeed on a werewolf's muzzle. He growled, but his claws retracted slightly. The others with him did not follow suit, but they did each take a step back. He did not want to fight a war, what he had been about to do was a one way leap into one. He needed Miluiel, he had been foolish to send her off. He hadn't anticipated they would find the village so quickly, and Miluiel was far more level-headed than he was. And to think he had sent her off, thinking like some weakling southlander. He would beg his wife forgiveness, and he almost wanted her to strike him, deliver some punishment for impertinence and foolishness. "We will not fight here." Azrael snarled, pointing a clawed finger at the Human's leader. "You will take your men and wait outside the building on that hill." He told the humans, now pointing at the hill the Long House was sitting on. I will come out soon and we will discuss this in a reasonable manner. And are you going to help your compatriot?" Azrael gestured to Canor, "to think that some cultures will throw the lives of their own people away, and then call us savages." His last words were growled mutterings to himself.

"Brinaff, Nevana! Escort these outsiders to the long house." Azrael told two of those with him. The two werewolfs nodded and moved closer to the humans, visibly forcing themselves not to leap at these outsiders. They would not attack first, though, now that the Alpha had decided against fighting. Azrael looked at Kayla, "If you would want, I'd like you to come with me. If you know where the tall one, that Logain, is I'd like to have him here to." He told Kayla, before he started to move off back to the village.

Secretly, the commander was relieved that there had been no fight. He had the distinct impression that they would have lost against these creatures. They were at least capable of making decisions, though that strange woman who intervened would need to be talked to. He blinked when Azrael mentioned Canor, and bit his lip. "You three!" He pointed out three of the conscripts, wait here with him while the rest of us deal with these creatures. Keep an eye out for Marie as well. We cannot leave here with out her." The general would have all of their hides if they did not at least return with a body. He let the two beasts lead them through the village of ramshackle huts and hide-tents. They were built strangely, the wood seemed to have been pulled apart into strips, and still had bark on them, and were bound together with what appeared to be bone and crude iron nails. Despite all of that they seemed, the huts seemed sturdy. He shivered subtly at the situation.

Elizabeth cried out as Alunn placed his foot down on her back, forcing her to the ground. She panted softly, exhausted with a lack of energy. She nodded and curled up, whining softly. "Okay." She muttered softly into the dirt.

Shera galloped as fast as she could around the circle. She knew the pup was closing in on her, but she couldn't let him get ahead. She was growing tired. She raced still, faster and faster until the end came into sight. She took another leap at it, hopeful that she could gain the spot.

Miluiel sat up quickly as the elder approached. She had been watching the children tiredly. She blinked a couple times and lifted a paw to wipe the sleepy dust from her eyes. "I am worried." She confessed softly. "It kills me not knowing where Azrael is, or what he is up to." She looked to the elder. "How fare you Elder?" She asked softly, hopeful that none of the children would hear her worries.

((Sorry again for the wait! College is a killer!))

Kayla let her breath loose. She wasn't even aware she was holding it as she prepared for a war that she would have been crushed between either side. Of course she had her magics to survive the worse blows but that was only a last resort. Now it seemed that her words had an effect on both sides to a degree or another and her knees finally gave way as she fell to them in relief.

"Thank you sir for allowing talks to occur. If there is a chance for peaceful talks then perhaps no blood will be spilled in the snow this day." Kayla said to Azrael with a bit of a nervous laugh in her voice. Although it is a distant memory Kayla knew she had her fair share of blood on her hands and the minor victory today not only made her happy for the lack of further spilling but because she was able to help Logain even in the smallest of ways.

((Don't worry about it. I know what you mean.))

"Azrael will do what he thinks is best, though that might not be as good as it sounds." The elder commented quietly. "If I had not heard of what had happened at the Tribal meeting, I would be questioning why you are here. I'm sure Azrael told you to come because you were both anxious for your young ones, and I suppose it makes sense to have an Alpha to keep the spirits up, but we could have managed them. I've managed the young for years upon years. I think that you should have refused his suggestion to help Veral, all be told. In fact there are many times when you should refuse his suggestions. You are Alpha as well, and besides, he should not be secluding you like a southlander... though forgive me for using such words, about your origins, Miluiel." The elder said.

Azrael helped Kayla up and led her to the house and his family inhabited. "Here, I'm going to show you something that I'd not show other outsiders," he said, leading her inside and into the storage area. Azrael lifted a hidden trap-door, and squeezed himself down it. "It is a bit steep!" He called from the cave below, "close the trap-door before you slide down." He told her, as he waited for her.

The pup tried his hardest to keep up the speed he had gained earlier, but the sprint had drained his energy quickly. Seeing that Shera was far ahead of him, and going to make it to the spot, he tried to make a final lead. He managed to get into the air, but did not get any distance, resulting into him bumping into two other pups, who both yelped in surprise and then began to wrestle playfully with the fallen pup and each other.

Miluiel felt a stabbing hurt in her chest. She turned to look at the children playing. They seemed fine. What was she really doing here? "It is a clash of cultures Elder. Growing up I was schooled by my people. The adjustment is still needed." She mumbled softly. It was no excuse however. "Shinn looks alright, doesn't he?" She asked softly. "Elder, do you think I should leave and go back to see what is going on?"

Shera collapsed tiredly in her spot, panting softly. She had made the spot, and now it was her time to take a break.

Kayla took his hairy hand gratefully as he lead her to what came to be some sort of secret doorway amongst the foods and other supplies. It was so well hidden it was like part of the floor just opened magically at his hand. If it was magical Kayla was not using her ability to see such things as Logain tried to teach her earlier. She just assumed it was hidden extremely well since magic might be detected. Kayla took the door in hand and pulled it closed behind her as she watched her step.

"It is a great honor to hear that sir but may I ask why you are showing me this place?" Kayla asked with a little awe and a little worry. Was he thinking the negotiation would fail and he was trying to hide her so angers did not retaliate against her for stalling the flow of blood?
PostPosted: Thu Dec 09, 2010 6:02 am

Azrael grinned. "Because this place is, in some ways, the heart of this village. I show it to you because I am very glad that you intervened. I was never a good negotiator." He told Kayla as he directed her through the caves.

The elder sighed and laid her paw-like hand on Miluiel's comfortingly. "I did not mean to be judgmental. You must do what you think is best, but also know that you must decide whether you want to do what is best for yourself or for the best of all." She said as she watched the children playing for a moment. She then sniffed the air and smiled. "It seems like you'll have an easier time making that decision."

Azrael emerged in the central chamber, after he had guided Kayla to it and went over to Miluiel, whom was with the elder. Azrael's tail was dragging the ground and his ears were lowered in a fashion that denoted regret and apology. "I have belittled twice today, and I did not mean to." Azrael said, reluctant to make eye contact, expecting her to be quite upset. "I am sorry for recommending to see you off. I should have realized that I would have needed your help. You were ever the better speaker than I." He shook himself and then began to clarify. "We encountered a group from one of the human warbands. The situation almost began irreparable, my fury would have gotten the better of me, if Kayla had not intervened as she had," Azrael said as he gestured to Kayla, graciously. "Their manners and attitude were appalling and I could not think of anything but retribution. We managed to get convince them to talk, we would all be best served if you were heading the negotiations on our behalf." Azrael said to his wife softly.

Shinn looked over to the spot where Shera had gotten into, and howled cheerfully at her victory. While concerned for his sister, he knew that what she need most right now was to rest for a little while. She had ran hard and ran well, and he was very proud of his little sister.

Miluiel nodded in agreement with the elder. Her head was spinning. She had decided that she would leave her children in the care of the elders and with Veral and go find Azrael. She was stupid for leaving him and coming down here. Shinn was alright now, which is what she wanted. Miluiel nodded and moved as if she was going to get up. Just at that time Azrael arrived in the underground chamber. She jumped to her feet and rushed towards him.

Miluiel paused when she saw him, with his tail down and his ears pulled back. What was wrong? She felt a rush of panic move through her. She also noticed that he had Kayla with him. At first she was curious if he was speaking to her. Miluiel tilted her head curiously to the side. Her heart was racing. Her husband was not making very much sense. After a moment of trying to listen to his broken statements Miluiel realized that he was indeed talking to her. She stepped forward to comfort him.

Her head rubbed gently against his, up until he began to explain himself. Miluiel took a step back. Her face was the perfect expression of surprise and alarm. She sat before him silent for a moment. It was a lot to absorb in such a short time. Once she had recovered she stood up. “Are you harmed dear?” She asked Azrael. Her dark eyes fluttered over to Kayla, “And you dear, I am very happy to see that you are safe. You disappeared so suddenly, you gave us quite a fright.” Miluiel looked back to the ring of children playing their games. She easily picked out Shinn and Shera. Shera was tired, but she was fine. Shinn was watching her too. “Come dear,” She said to Azrael, “Let us take this away from the children. Let us go back into the tunnel to talk.” She got up and began to lead the way.

Shera’s breath was beginning to catch up with her. She saw Shinn’s excitement for her, and she felt good too. She sighed and felt a little better. Sitting up now she looked around for her mother. Miluiel was nowhere to be seen. Then she caught a movement out of the corner of her searching eye. It was both her mother and her father walking out of the room. Tiredly she stood up and began to wonder from the circle over to Shinn. “Shinn, do you see them? Where are they going?” She asked.

Kayla felt a little embarrassed standing in the tunnel. She was not used to being praised so and seeing the werewolf lover's being very touchy hit a slight nerve. Recent events made such emotional touching from a moment of realizing she could never do anything like that to excitement to the thought of being touched like that one day.

"I had a moment of sleep walking. It was the strangest thing." Kayla said saying the only thing she could think of. The other two might get to trouble for abducting her temporarily. Of course clues to her past were best left buried as well. "Luckily Master Logain found me and helped me come back in time."

Shinn turned to look and his parents moving out of the chamber. "They're probably off to do something, it's probably got to do with what's been goin' on." He said to his sister. "They'll be back before too long, Shera. Just stick with us down here." Shinn nuzzled his sister and grinned. "You ran very well both times. If you hadn't gotten caught on a mat, you would've gotten in the first time." He said, changing the subject.

Azrael nodded and led Miluiel and Kayla out of the chamber. He nodded respectfully to the Elder as he moved off. When he arrived their he restated what he had said about encountering the humans, and how they were waiting to meet with them to try conduct some form of negotiation. "You are a far better speaker than I, as well as more experience and patience. They are more likely to be convinced by you than I. Having you there to represent us is the best thing we can do for this. After I have their leader set in the Long House for discussion, I can watch the children in your place, or do anything else you wish me to, as always." He told her deferentially.
PostPosted: Tue Dec 14, 2010 12:01 am

Kayla felt a little like a third wheel even though she was fundamental in breaking the tension. Of course the fact she managed that was nothing short of a miracle. Perhaps neither side wanted her to get hurt and maybe she somehow she gained a little respect for her reckless behavior.

"I'll come with you too if you go mam."Kayla said loud enough to echo slightly in the underground tunnel. She didn't mean it that loudly but it seemed like a god idea to support Miluiel since Azrael thought she would be able to further calm hostilities. Of course it didn't alleviate the embarrassing echo any regardless of intent.

Shera nodded and sighed. She couldn't help but feel anxious. She wanted to know what was going on. "Yeah." She said softly and lifted her pay before her face. "I think I broke my nail. It kinda hurt, but I got over it." She smiled at Shinn. "Since we've both gone, and there are so many others here who haven't, should we sit out of the circle, perhaps just until momma and papa come back?" Shera asked her big brother.

Miluiel listened to her husband speak. It really had not been long since they had come down into the underground tunnels. The mother nodded in agreement, "Okay dear, I will go up and speak with them." Already she was beginning to have ideas in her head of how this could go. "Are they waiting now, then?" Miluiel asked. "Perhaps if we approached them in our human forms they would feel less threatened."

As for a response to his last statement she nodded once more, "That would be fine, if that is where you would like to be, unless you wish to be in the meeting room with us." Miluiel wasn't sure if they would try to feed her or any of the others poisonous words. She knew from experience that there were people who could talk and make anything sound good. She didn't want to be swept away by this sort of talking.

Miluiel looked over at the young woman and nodded, "Thank you dear, I will be very appreciative of your presence." She smiled at the girl. "It is good to have you back." She said softly to her.
